At 33, enough is enough

Hi all

i originally joined this site in 2008 when I was doing lipotrim. I weighed 25.13st st the time. I have tried every single diet known to man - SW, WW, Rosemary Conley, all about w8, Cambridge plan, lighter life, lipotrim, Atkins... You name it I've tried it. And I've failed every single time.

well this time I'm going to succeed. I recently came back from holiday. I love holidays, however, there's a lot of things about holidays that makes me miserable... Having to pack massive clothes, case always being overweight, squashing in the seat on the plane then having the embarrassment of having to ask for a seatbelt extension, sweating, being terrified that the subbed won't hold my weight, feeling like everyone is watching me in the all inclusive restaurant.... Need I go on?! But this time one more thing got to me. One night there was karaoke on, now I can't sing to save my life but the entertainment guy asked me to get up and sing with him. Of course I said no, but it suddenly clicked that I wasn't saying no cos I couldn't sing or that I would make a fool out of myself... I was saying no because I couldn't stand anyone looking and saying look at that fat cow on stage, she's massive. It was at that point that I decided I had to make this work.

i came back off holiday on fri 24th cot and on sat 25th oct I made a start. I didn't want to wait until Monday because, well why?!

I weighed myself on the sat morning - 23.8st. Not as bad as 25.13st but still unbelievably wrong.

ive since been following the slimming world diet at home. I can't bring myself to go to a class but I seem to be able to find everything I need online. I have so far lost 12lb in 3 weeks. I'm very proud of myself. My 1st target is to be under 22 stone by Christmas. Then I want to be under 20 stone by end of March. I go on holiday in June next year and I'm hoping to see a huge difference.

Also, my friend gets married next year and is having her hen party in July. Part of it is quad biking which at the moment I am too heavy to do. I'm hoping to have lost enough weight to do this with ease.

having read the diaries on here, I love the motivation that is given and the stories shared.

i will try to update this diary each day if I can.

I'm sure you can do it with the support of the lovely girls here :) and hopefully in the future you will go on holiday and enjoy all the things you couldn't this time. Can you eat unlimited fruit and veg on Slimming World? because if so you should consider getting a nutribullet blender. I got one after reading about it and its amazing, Ive never been good at eating fruit and veg but now I make smoothies and they are lovely, even if they might look a bit odd colour, but its all fresh raw food and is so good for you and so filling as well. Ive lost 20lb in 4 weeks, if I get the slightest bit hungry I just knock up a nutribullet smoothie and that fills me right up, I feel great too. I generally make mine with a good handful of spinach, then about 1third fruit and 2 thirds raw veg, I always add some root ginger to give it a bit of tang.

Yeh, i to attend class but I work 2 jobs and find it difficult to get time to go. Plus it's £20 a month that I can't really afford. Xx

Aww thank you. Yeh defo reached breaking point. Never ever felt as motivated as I do this time. Got my June Hol on my mind. Like I said I love holidays but certain parts of them make me so miserable and it's time that changed. Been reading the diaries on here and the support is amazing!
 
Welcome Rach - here to support you too. Agree with waffle - you sound like you've reached your limit. I can tell in the way you describe your holiday that it must be so hard and I can't really pretend to understand some of those things. But I do know how hard it is to lose weight, what its like to be completely unfit and feel generally unhappy with how you look.

Couple of positives though - you weighed in 23s not 25s, you're about to get your stone award and you didn't wait until Monday to start (a great sign!).

Well done Rachel, I am starting out too, I have gained some weight the last 2 years and its really depressing especially when you didn't see it coming on. I met a family member shopping yesterday and she said 'Wow I didn't know you with the weight' I said THATS IT time to get back to my old self !!!!!
 
Thanks all. Having a good week and went to the Christmas markets last night. I avoided the large (very large!) hotdogs that looked and smelt amazing! And walked constantly for approx 5 hours. My feet were killing me but I figure it's done me good haha!!
