152kgs second attempt at lighterlife VLCD

    Hello,

So a month on LL I'm 1 stone 11 pounds lighter. This is my second go at the diet having lost 6 and a half stone ten years ago.

I'm realising that this won't be a quick fix this time. The counselling sessions are making me learn about myself and this week I realised that I needed support. I'm so excited about sharing this journey and talking to people who understand.

    Hi Blondcat,

Thanks for the reply! They've included foodpacks now so pastas and currie and shepard pie. It sounds exciting but really it's boring after a few weeks!

I think that's part of it though taking the 'reward/comforting' feeling out of food.

This time I'm being realistic and have decided ahead of time that I will have a Christmas day/boxing day and new years day eating conventional food as it's important to me.

I will go on the 5:2 for the Christmas week or lite (food packs daily and one low carb meal) depending on how motivated I feel.

I haven't told my work colleagues about the diet as I'm in a new job and it just doesn't feel right. I've also chosen to eat at the Christmas meal. That was a tough decision but instead of going and 'cheating' and letting things spiral out of control. I've planned my meal choice ahead of time.

Goodness I can't believe I've written all of this. You can tell I needed to have a chat!

What are you doing for your weight loss journey?

It sounds like a good plan to me. Frankly I think anyone would be utterly miserable not eating for those few days over Christmas and probably wouldn't stick to it. Same for your Christmas meal.

I agree on the reward / comfort thing. I'm an all or nothing girl. So generally this is what I do:

Monday and Tuesday - 600 calories per day and usually burn around 1000 calories in the gym per day

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday - 900 - 1500 depending on what I'm doing. Usually burn 1000 calories per day exercise.

So far you must be thinking I'm some kind of obsessed Saint. Then we arrive at the weekend.

Saturday & Sunday - I offer eat btw 3000-4000 calories per day and often do no exercise. This is actually causing me health issues - on Saturday I ate 4000 calories and spent 3 hours being sick in the evening. This is the last part of my diet that is out of control. If I don't figure out how to reign it in before 2015 I'm considering hypnotherapy!!

I'm managed to lose 3 stone doing this and I'm in the best shape of my life but it's taken me two months to get 3lbs off so it's almost impossible to lose weight eating like this.

    Anyway sorry for the essay!!

I agree on planning the Christmas menu choices - I've been really good with all mine - lots of Turkey and white fish rather than pork belly or fried food starters.

    Hi Blondcat,

A 1000 calories at the gym is hard work! What a great effort. The weekends are always hard for me as I'm bored/used to the Friday takeaway. I've never done hypnotherapy does it work?

I hate that feeling of losing control to food and not bring able to make sensible food choices. Your last Sunday sounds mentally and physically draining.

Could you plan to go out for a walk or dance with friends in the weekend? I've had to think of ways to hang out with my friends without eating! Plenty of coffees, galleries and theatre visits.

I've never tried it but it's defo helped some of my friends - has to be worth a go if I can't do it myself ;-)

That's the problem on the weekends - I go out fri and sat night and head back to London Sunday night. Because I'm out of the house for 14-16 hours a day mon - fri I just want to sit on the sofa in sat and sun daytime. Need to recharge the batteries!! Although this Saturday I actually have an all day session in the pub. Although there are calories in alcohol, a bottle of wine is under 700 which is way less calories than what I'd eat on the sofa at home!! So that might save me this week - we'll see :-)

Honestly crap! I could list a number of reasons why I ate today after sticking plan so well for the past month. But the thing that did it was feeling angry at someone who let me down at work. I irrationally figured I'm angry at this person, this diet my stress sod it I'm going to just cheat.

In reality id been so busy going to client from client id not fit in half a bar in the morning, not drank enough water missed lunch and had to work late. I was that close to getting a kfc for lunch on my way back to the office but realised that I'd gone bloody well left my bag in the office. I could have cried if it wasn't so tragic!

The bad news came at the end of the day weeks of planning and back to square one. I drove home late and debated for and against. I managed to steer clear of kfc (I might have a slight addiction to that place!) But ended up in the supermarket and got two chicken thighs ready roasted and salmon and a seafood mix and made a pepper soup (a childhood favourite).

I don't feel guilty I just feel disappointed for not prioritising myself and letting everything get ontop of me to the point I couldn't make time to stop and eat or have a drink.

Wow I am rambling again - I should just said pants day but I'll try again tomorrow.

    How was the gym session?

Don't beat yourself up. You have to look at the bigger picture. You probably ate like 800 cals maximum of fairly good quality food (pepper soup and proteins). I know the point of this duet is to stick 100% to their plan so that you don't come off plan and lose the plot and go mad. But you didn't go mad. You had a small blip which would have done nothing in terms of weightloss and the psychological risk of breaking diet and binging for days has been avoided.

You'll be back on plan tomorrow and will feel even better that you brought it back to where you need to be and didn't spoil your great efforts.

Gym was good - hardcore day tomo - morning sesh, and at lunch and double dance class tomorrow night xx

Thanks for the encouragement! Just what I needed to hear.

You've inspired me to go to the gym tomorrow I've had my kit packed for a week in the boot of the car.

I'm building up the energy to go to boxercise class each week. The instructor knows I'm on a vlcd so will keep an eye and ensure I'm not overdoing it. The week before was my second week in and I could manage 15 mins on the bike, 25 on the cross trainer and a very slow walk uphill on the tred mill for 10 mins. In between each cardio I used the small weights for my arms. At the end I use the machine to tone my thighs.

I'm sure I could be doing it better but I'm still learning!

ANY exercise is better than no exercise! That's actually quite a bit of exercise - well done. Also very good that you used the weights, the more lean muscle you have the more fat you burn at rest and the better you'll look when you lose the weight. Everyone thinks it will bulk you up but definitely the opposite is true (unless you start body building!) I exercise on low calorie days - I just get an earlier night. Seems to be fine xx
