Hello and Happy New Year Everyone!! :)

I wish I could say I'm new on here but I wrote a similar thread back in 2012 and unfortunately I've regained the bit of weight I lost since then and I've not been on here in ages and ages!
I used to love coming on here and found it incredibly inspiring to chat to such lovely, motivating people! I really hope to make friends and chat with people like that again this time, in the hope we can support each other :)

I know it's probably a massive cliche jumping on the 'new year/ new you' band wagon. But I honestly feel motivated to make this year count! I don't want the numbers on the scales to keep creeping up and up each year! I'm starting to get scared about the way my weight is going! I can't get my head around the horrendous fact that I'm very nearly 30st! I'm shocked and disgusted with myself for getting to this! Something needs to be done! I can't keep going like this!

My plan is to combine what I've learned from various diets/advice I've done and followed before. Such as, always eating a healthy breakfast (as I never normally have breakfast), eating smaller portions, keeping under 1800 cals per day, planning all my meals, shopping online to avoid temptation, daily exercise & drinking plenty of water!

I so hope this time around it works & I stick to it! I feel like I have no life at the moment. I'm just stuck in a rut and trying to eat my way out is certainly not working! It just makes me feel worse! Please God let this time work!!!!

I look forward to reading other peoples posts and to recording my hopefully successful journey on here!

Here's to 2015 and here's to us achieving and succeeding!! ????

Hi trim - welcome back!!

As you've been here before I'm sure you know about the WEMITTS section which is for people with quite a bit to lose. They are very supportive and there's some inspirational stories there, Tracey lost 11stone and is really smart and kind when it comes to advice.

But you'll get loads of support here too - the girls are amazing and I have some great buddies on this board and some people dip in and out if the two.

I'm looking forward to seeing you lose the weight and supporting you along the way xx

Welcome back, hon. :) As Blondcat says (thanks for the kind mention, BC!), the WEMITTS section is a fab place for those with a fair bit to lose - it's an active part of the forum with a lovely bunch of supportive folks. :)

In terms of your calorie goal, 1,800 is a bit low for your stats. I'd recommend working out your BMR and setting that as your target for starters. That's from my personal experience and that of a lot of other people I've followed on here. :)

Happy new year and good luck! :) xx

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for the kind welcome! I had forgotten about the wemitts but ill defo be checking out the posts! Thanks blondcat! :) I actually feel better and more motivated already just being back on here! Thank you for that!!! :) Thanks for your advice Tracey! I've had a quick look on google and my fitness pal and they are saying between 2200 & 2500 cals a day. I will certainly follow your advice and increase my starting allowance of cals! You have done so well! Congratulations on your weight loss! Well today I've started as I mean to go on and I had breakfast (well brunch given that I was a lazy so & so and didn't get up till mid morning lol). I had porridge with honey and a handful of grapes. Very nice it was to! How are you all doing? X

Just a quick question. I've just reset all my stats on mfp and now it's saying daily cals of 2800. That seems a lot? I just wondered what you thought? Is that too much or am I way out with my calculations? :) thanks

Yay we're at the same weight!!!! It actually horrendous lol but it means we are diet twins :) x

Hahaha never heard someone pleased to be the same weight as me before lol!! Yay! Like being a diet twin! We can do it Hun! Forget the last time! We have learned from it and now's the time to succeed!! Xx

It's difficult to say, really, until you try it. I know that's a useless answer, lol, but it really is trial and error. I started on 2,000, but I was "only" 21.5 stone, so I'd expect yours to be a bit higher, maybe in the range of 2,200-2,500. Did you tell MFP you were going to exercise, is that maybe why it gave a higher figure? :) xx

Ah maybe that was it! I'll have another tinker with it lol! Sorry for the silly questions lol! I'm just so desperate to get it right this time! Thanks Hun! Xx

Not silly! Tracy definitely right, if you are too aggressive cutting your calories your body is going to be like "what the heck?? Where's the pizza?" Im like that when I do too many low cal days in a week.

I'd tell MFP that I'm not exercising and get your BMR calculated based on that. Then you won't beat yourself up if you don't do any and will be a bonus in terms of weight loss.

Hershey how you getting on? Hope you were better than me over christmas and new year! I've been so naughty :-(

Very wise words!! Lol my body would defo be asking 'where's the pizza' before too long! I've just completed my mfp diary and I had 2089cals today and I'm full! Great to know I had over 300csls left to play with (and that's before exercise)

How you getting on? How much are you wanting to lose Hun? :) x

Well done on a good day :)

You could save up cals for a treat on weigh day so you could have pizza and not feel guilty :) x

Before Christmas I got down to 8st 13 - I reckon I've put on at least 8lbs in December. 6 boozy all day drinking sessions, 4 days in France, 20 nights out, christmas and new year. IMPOSSIBLE!!

I know it sounds a bit ridiculous but I really want my dream body, abs, slim arms, good butt. Don't know if I'll ever get it but have to fight and at least try. Goal is to be back where I was by the end of January.

Well done on today - New Year's Day as well! A great start :)

Ooh sounds like you have had a fantastic December! As long as you've enjoyed it don't beat yourself up about any gain! You will soon lose it again!
It's not ridiculous! I think a dream body sounds good! I would want the same :)
I bet your back where you were by the end of jan! Plus it's good having a goal to work towards. What exercises are you doing if you don't mind me asking? I'm not fretting too much about ecverise yet! Want to get the healthy eating ingrained first. But eventually I will need to increase my activity and attempt to tone up lol!

Day 2 is going to involved going shopping and stocking up on healthy foods!
I need to plan some meals and make my shopping list! I know it prob makes me a loser, but I'm excited to plan my meals lol!
