I am aiming to lose well over 200lbs and I will be posting my updates as regular as possible. Feel free to say hi and offer any advice you feel may help.

:D

Hi!! Yes you can do this!!! This is a great forum and you'll get loads of support and encouragement. I'm sure you will also be a great support to others!!

I joined this site in May last year and faffed about for ages until I eventually got my act together in November. It's been a bit of a rocky journey so far but I can honestly say that I have learned so much about myself and losing weight along the way.

My main things that I'm learning are -

1. Don't set unrealistic goals or get too bogged down in numbers - take half a stone at a time. I've disappointed myself too many times by saying 'I need to to lose x by y' - it never happens!!

2. In the past if I had a blip it would become a bad day, then a bad week and all of a sudden I'd be back where I started. I've learnt that one bad choice doesn't mean the rest of the day needs to be bad, or one bad day doesn't make a bad week. I'm slowly learning how to forgive myself and draw a line. I think this helps with self sabotage - which we are all guilty of!!

3. The last thing I've learnt and my top tip is that your body doesn't always do what you expect it to!!! I've had some poor weeks and had great losses, similarly i've had some of my lowest losses on the weeks that i've been an angel. Celebrate the bigger picture the weeks that you feel the scales are being unfair!! These are the weeks that I measure myself - it reassures me that I am getting smaller even when it doesn't seem like it..

You'll get loads of great ideas from other peoples diaries. Mine is achieving the unachievable - which is honestly what it felt like to me when I started!! Feeling more hopeful now and you will too!!

What plan are you doing? I'll stop rambling now haha xx

Hey, looking at your stats you are off to a roaring start :). It does seem a long way still to go at times, but if it does look at what you have already achieved and feel proud. I am back after a long time in diet doldrums, having regained nearly all the weight I so slowly and painfully took off, and will be needing a pep talk from time to time :). We are all in it together and together we will succeed :).

@Burstingattheseams I'm not doing any particular plan, just a balanced diet really. Lots of chicken, fish, some red meat, some cheese, pasta dishes, curry dishes, muesli, wholemeal bread, lots of berry fruits, boiled/poached eggs, I was having small portions of potatoes once a week with a meal, but I have cut them out now. For instance I would have usually had new potatoes, chicken and broccoli with gravy, but now I have that meal without the potatoes.

Thanks for the words of support. :)

@Lass31 I have also been in the diet doldrums, I was a lot lighter a year or so ago, but I gave up on my diet and now I am even worse off than before. I was a member here before, but I completely forgot my username. I definitely feel it helps to sign up to a forum like this, because like you say we are all in it together and we can support each other on the road to success.

Thank you for your kind words.

Welcome 88.

On the iPhone so can't see your stats but if say the one thing I've noticed with the girls on here that have a lot to lose and are actually doing it is they don't plan to far ahead and set crazy goals dreaming of bikinis in 2 months and then have a bad day and give up because it seems like to big a mountain to climb.

Also they don't pressure themselves into losing too much weight too quickly. They post a pond weight loss with a smiley. Some people regard that as a failure and it seems to derail them.

But everyone is different, that's just my observation :)

Nice to have you here and good luck x

Lol just realised my top 2 tips are 1 & 2 on bursting's list!!

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement Blondcat, I have my overall goal of losing what I need to, but I don't take set time limits too seriously as long as I am going in the right direction. I take 1 day at a time and I have managed to reach my 60th day today.

Today's food intake:

I missed breakfast today which isn't something I do usually, as it sets me up well for the day.

For lunch I had a slice of toasted brown bread with cottage cheese on.

For tea I had chicken, mashed carrot and swede, broccoli, stuffing and topped it off with gravy.

Apart from missing breakfast I am happy with today, most days I have some variety of fruit but that was missed today as well.

How's it going? 60 days is great - have you lost all that weight in 60 days? You're motoring girl!! You will be seeing a big difference in no time at this rate!! X

Yeah, I've lost that in 60 days, thanks for the kind words, I must say I'm male though.

Day 61 and 62 food intake:

Breakfast: a bowl of granola and half a grapefruit

Lunch: Tuna sandwich(brown bread)

Tea: 4 Chicken thighs in a paprika seasoning, with rice.

Snack: a small bowl of blueberries

Breakfast: a bowl of granola and half a grapefruit

Lunch: Cheese sandwich(brown bread)

Tea: 4 Chicken thighs in a paprika seasoning with cottage cheese on the side

Snack: a bowl of mixed berries

As I only weighed myself a couple of days ago, I will probably do another weigh in next Sunday and keep it on a Sunday from thereon in.

Haha! That did actually cross my mind when I was typing!! Still just as amazing! Go on yerself Sir!! X

Nearly 3 stone in 60 days is impressive work! Well done you.

Are you following a plan or just generally eating better?

I can't give any more advice than what has already been said - just one day, one pound at a time :)

I'm looking forward to following your weight loss and welcome to the forum (check out WeMITTS - it's where most of us with lots to loose hang out).

I'm just eating a lot better, I have tried plans in the past but I didn't stick to them, this way seems to have stuck though. Thank you for the kind welcome.

Today's meals:

Breakfast: A bowl of Granola with skimmed milk and then half a grapefruit

Lunch: Cheese and anchovies on a wholemeal bun

Tea: Pasta with pesto and chicken

Snack: Mixed berries

Day 63 done, the first few weeks felt like they were going to last forever, but once I got past them it felt like there was no stopping me. I'm determined to finally change my life for the better.

Today I had my first real 'treat' since starting my diet, I wasn't sure if I would feel guilt ridden or not, even after eating it I'm still not sure, lol.

Anyway, Today's meals as follows:

Breakfast: A bowl of granola with skimmed milk.

Lunch: A battered cod from the chippy

Tea: A bowl of mulligatawny soup and 3 ryvita's

The worst thing you can do is attach guilt to food!

Looking at the rest of your day I reckon you didn't do any damage, so I hope you enjoyed it!

Dropped in to say hi and welcome, and that I started at 26 stone 7.

Are you weighing the granola and aware of the calorie count? Mine is horrendous!

Helena

A good choice - I'm a huge fish and chip shop girl. There's actually less calories in battered fish than you might think - a large (and I mean large) is 700. A regular size is around 450. I weighed mine once as an experiment to see how many cals and cross referenced it against the official fish fryers association nutrition page. I'm such a geek!! But my point is - you had a treat and made it a sensible one.

You are an inspiration with how well you're doing :)

Thanks for the welcome and well done on your weight loss. :)

I haven't been weighing my Granola, I have just been taking a guess at how much is okay to have, I should probably start weighing it out in the future.

Thank you so much. :)

I did google how many calories were in a battered fish lol, that's what made me decide if I was going to have a treat, then that was probably the best option.

I only wish I had the will power to be able to do this years ago, but it's better late than never.

I think today has been another successful day:

Breakfast: A bowl of muesli with skimmed milk; and half a grapefruit.

Lunch: An egg sandwich( wholemeal bread)

Tea: 3 chicken fajitas

Helena is right - granola is crazy high in cals - it's the amount of sugar in it. But it is yum yum yum. I don't have it as a main ingredient any more, I have frozen berries and overnight oats with unsweetened almond milk (150 cals) and one big spoon of granola (50 cals). If I'm feeling very indulgent add half a banana and some raisins for another 100. One of my fave breakfasts :)

I'm drooling just thinking about it!!
