Em's new life

Hi everyone :)

I've been on my weight loss journey for a few years now and was 13 stone at my heaviest. I am now 10 stone and want to lose around 1 stone more to get to my ideal weight and then see how I feel! I am due to begin my career in August and move to the city so my life will change significantly. I want to be in better shape for that and I also just want to feel healthier and stronger. I am planning on simply eating healthily, calorie counting and doing lots of exercise.

I discovered this wonderful website a while ago but was never brave enough to post but I have recently gained a lot of inspiration from reading through the threads and seeing the amazing supportive community and success stories. I really think that it would benefit me to keep a diary and actually record my results regularly. So, here goes...

Had a stressful but somehow relatively good day today.

Had a small bowl of low sugar cereals and a banana for breakfast, a bowl of soup and an apple at lunch and chicken and vegetables for dinner followed by a few grapes. Also had plenty of water!

I managed to burn 995 calories doing circuit training and in the gym

Another good day today food wise, but not so good with the exercise. Managed to injure my leg at work and wasn't able to go to the gym as planned. Forever clumsy!

Nevertheless, food wise I've had a small bowl of low sugar cereal, a banana, an apple, 1 Thai prawn fishcake, roasted Mediterranean vegetables with honey glaze, peas and a low fat shape yoghurt.

Definitely hoping my leg has recovered by tomorrow so I can get back in the gym. Otherwise it might have to be swimming

Good day again. Food wise I had low calorie cereal, an apple, banana, sausage pasta (quorn sausages and wholewheat pasta), a shape yoghurt and some blueberries.

Still wasn't able to do a full gym workout but did manage circuits and went on a long walk this afternoon so all is good.

My work trousers are definitely feeling looser now which is a great feeling! I'm really surprised I've managed to keep off the chocolate as that's usually my downfall. Hope I can keep it up :)

Starting to get really frustrated now by the lack of exercise I've been doing. Couldn't get to the gym today. Wanted to go swimming but the only times I could go were when schools were in. Ended up going for a walk again so at least that's something. Hopefully I will make it either to the gym or swimming tomorrow.

Ive been good with food today. Had a small bowl of low sugar cereals, a banana, strawberries, salmon and veg in a tomato sauce with a few potatoes, an apple and one or two grapes. Drank as much water as I could but I really struggle in that department.

I am planning to weigh myself tomorrow morning. It feels a bit daunting as it will be the first time I've ever posted it publicly. Fingers crossed for a loss!

Still 10st on the scales :( really disappointed with that. Feel like I've ate perfectly with no cheats and I've been active yet still no loss. Beginning to think I'm never going to break that 10st barrier and get into the 9s

I was like that getting in the 9s. Looking back I'm certain it's because I stepped up the exercise and was converting fat to muscle. Then suddenly it came off.

Also I often notice the scales for me are a week behind and also TOTM adds 3lbs to my weigh in.

Hang in there - if you stuck to plan it will come off :)

That's good to know regarding the exercise. I haven't managed to do quite as much this week which is perhaps where I've gone wrong. Interesting about the scales being a week behind too - gives me some hope yet at least! I tend to get to this point and then start to think that I may as well not bother as I'm not losing. This is the most determined I've ever felt though so I'm hoping I can finally break the barrier.

I've had a skim through your diary and it's definitely very inspirational, your pics look amazing, well done! :)

Not a great day yesterday. Ate at the in laws. Had chicken, bacon and prawn risotto for dinner and treated myself to a chocolate bar after for the first time in ages. Otherwise I had plenty of fruit and just low sugar cereal for breakfast. Couldn't do any exercise although I did have to run quite a distance to make my train! Every little counts...

Went slightly off plan food wise in the past couple of days. I had to eat out one day as I was out from 7am until 11pm. Ended up having a chicken wrap and a few chips. Could have been worse I suppose. I had a ham sandwich when I got in as well as I was starving! Other than that I just had the usual low sugar cereal and fruit.

Yesterday, we went to my dads house for dinner and he made some creamy chicken pasta dish which wasn't ideal either. Other than that I had low sugar cereal and fruit. I did manage to get to the gym yesterday, did a 30 minute run and weights.

Getting back on it food wise today. So far I've had low sugar cereal, blue berries, a cereal bar and butternut squash soup for lunch. We are planning on having BBQ chicken fajitas tonight and I will be having wholewheat pittas instead of wraps, reduced fat sour cream and plenty of veggies. I'll probably end up having an apple or some other fruit as well. Planning to go to the gym later, hoping to burn about 1000 calories.

My weekend has been fairly good. I had some fantastic news on Thursday that I had achieved distinctions in my first set of Law school exams which I was not expecting. I managed to stick to plan and hold off the celebrations this week but I am going out next week so we'll see how that goes! On Saturday I had low sugar cereal, fruit for lunch and butternut squash with bacon, spinach, light cream cheese, roasted vegetables and peas for dinner followed by more fruit. On Sunday I had low sugar cereal, fruit for lunch and a roast beef Sunday dinner followed by more fruit again! However, I did had a small glass of sparkling rose with my dinner and I didn't manage to get any exercise done

I have been to the gym this morning and burnt around 750 calories. I had low sugar cereal for breakfast, I've just had a banana and an apple and for dinner I'm planning to have a thai prawn fishcake, vegetables and maybe some quinoa.

It's my second weigh in tomorrow and I am 100% dreading it! :(

Couldn't weigh in yesterday. We don't have scales at our house (blessing in disguise!) so I have to weigh in elsewhere. I was hovering somewhere between 9st13 and 10st this morning so I'm going to call it 9st13.5lb which is a 0.5lb loss. It felt amazing to finally see the scales below 10st for the first time since secondary school and it has really spurred me on to stay on plan rather than giving up.

Yesterday was almost perfect. Ate low sugar cereal, an apple, a banana, yellow fish, new potatoes, peas and strawberries. Burnt about 650 calories at the gym and was running around at work. Today has been good so far, had low sugar cereal with skimmed milk, an apple and a banana. Think we are having gammon, jacket potato and veg tonight. I won't get chance to do any exercise today though.
