Blimey - that was a week ago!I'll have to continue this later.. as Sarah needs the pc.. so.. part 2 of NYE to follow! (sorry - I know it's a lot to plough through.. but I want to get it all out.. lol - there's stuff about my first hub..about 'Eric'.. about my step-sister.. and that's without the events of the evening!!! Arrfgh... no wonder I've put it off!! See you later xxx thanks for hanging in there with me on all of this.. xx
Ok... potted history time!! (if that's even possible for me!!)...
31st Dec was first hubs' (the one who died) birthday, so always a bit of a lump in the throat so that made me a bit emotional and we (the girls and I) talked about him a fair bit.. lots of lovely memories though of bygone parties.. cakes baked (I used to do novelty birthday cakes.. all kinds.. kiddie ones to um.. adult ones).. past friends.. family..etc etc. So a reflective day..
In the morning (as you know) I visited my mum and darling stepdad.. not sure he realise who we were but he is a poppet. Think I told you all what my mum had to say and how chuffed I was.. ahh.. Eric! Eric lives about 10 miles from my mother so I called him and asked if he would be in as I had his Christmas presents with me and was planning to drop them off.. he was out visiting family so I said we (the girls and I) would leave them in his porch. He suggested that we meet up for a drink in the new year so I can give them to him in person.. I said ok if I didn't have time to deliver them (knowing full well I was gonna drop them off and skedaddle! lol). That's what we did.. the girls and I, having left mums we shot over to Erics and left the parcels on the doorstep. BEFORE that though I managed to spend some time with my stepsister 'P'. She is going through a dreadful divorce at the moment. Very complicated - lots of stress and not aided by a snotty family, unsupportive stepmother (my mum, who is doing her best it has to be said, but has no compassion for P at all... she has her reasons..but it makes for a hard environment as P is staying there at the moment!! - how complex this all is! lol).. anyway... P usually lives in NZ but is over here trying her level best to sort out divorce and I could see it's taking it's toll on her. So I managed to sneak upstairs and give her a hug and spend a few minutes letting her get it off her chest. She so desperately needed someone to talk to who understands how she feels.. she isn't a bad soul but is very misunderstood.. as soon as my abscence downstairs was noticed I was summoned so had to wish P well and exchanged email addresses so she can sound off at will! I feel sad for her. Her ex has poisened the kids against her and in a big way, despite their having lived with it all these years... anyway.. I feel for her. Right, onto the evening.. wore the sparkly top I bought with Mich, with a pair of smart black trousers and some dolly shoes (if you know what I mean). Not the most comfy footwear for me, but it looked smartish. Felt very fat though.. and not in the mood to go out. Felt I had pre-TOTM belly on me! Well, anyway.. picked up Lucy and went to the party! What a shock.. lol.. walked into this massive room to see loads of oldies! lololol Lucy (at 36) being the youngest there!! DJ was in his late 40's if he was a day.. and , well, it wasn't very inspiring but hey, we were there and determined to have a good evening!
We asked the barmaid to recommend a table (it was all 10-seaters and loads were already seated!).. as we didn't know a soul! We sat with a couple who were, as it turned out, the best company! We laughed loads.. they drank loads.. lol.. we heard all about their trip to the Erotica exhibition at the NEC.. (or was it Earls Court?) and what that involved! lol (checking diary now whilst I remember!)
Music was ok, bit too much of the old jive and rock n roll for my tastes, but, me and Lucy strutted our stuff with the rest of em! So much so my foot was screaming at me by midnight.. Auld Lang Syne was fun.. linked arms with a bunch of strangers but a lovely atmosphere. Just after midnight my mobile rang and it was Mr K.. I scuttled into the chair cupboard and had a lovely chat and Happy New Year chat with himI was so thrilled that he had managed to call as I knew it wasn't going to be easy for him. Zoe texted me to say she had won £50! (turns out she had the lucky ticket for the door prize!).. that's my girl

Eventually we (Lucy & I) said our goodbyes to the couple we'd met and I took Lucy home.. she did look amazing in her red beaded bustier. I got in and Sarah was still up (she didn't go out because she was really sick with some bug!).. had a hug and then she went to bed! I jumped onto msn and had a wonderful talk with Mr K.In the end I put the web cam on (Sarah & I talk on it all the time! lol) and he was so complimentary, so he has the advantage now.. he knows what I look like proper! I only have his photo and, it now transpires, it is an old one!!! So really - I haven't a clue what he looks like!! There was also a love poem waiting for me in my email..

I was so moved.. it was lovely. Got to bed, finally, around 3am!
New Years Day... can't really remember it much to be honest.. Mr K rang me first thing in the morning... made me smile. Then I got the call that you know about. My lovely friend Debbie had a stroke. I can't say too much or I shall get upset again.. but you will recall it was (and is) a massive shock to all. None moreso than Debbie! In the afternoon I logged onto MSN hoping to see Mr K when I got a message from an old contact from last year.. asking me what I was doing . His name is David. He lives somewhere in Norfolk and is full of flannel.. lol.. if I were to give him a nickname it would be towelhead! (coz of all the flannel).. he whittered on about what a lovely day,.. would I like to go out on his boat for the afternoon.. blah blah blah.. well, to be honest... I can't even remember talking to him that much.. and it was yonks ago..and it was just msn for a day or 2 and I didn't have him on my msn list.. so not altogether sure how he messaged me??? Anyway.. not interested in anyone other than my Mr K so blew him out.. lol Think he was a bit taken aback (flannelheads tend to be that way if you don't just do what they want, or so it seems.. tendency for macho arrogance there!).. so wished him Happy New Year and did the offski (blocked him from seeing me online.. lol). I could hear mutterings eminating from the living room by this time.. SKY had stopped working!! Oh quelle horreur (or however you spell it)..
Sarah was NOT a happy bunny.. so.. everything switched off and the good old reboot thingy done and all was restored.. just in time for Half A Sixpence.. I LOVE that film and am seriously thinking of buying it on video or DVD if I can get it. I could watch it again and again.. see, I'm a soppy mare!! Love a good story, musicals a fave, and romance too! Ahhhh...
Had a distressed call from my sis, her latest beau was playing silly beggars.. *sigh.. why does life have to be so complimicated!??
The rest of the day was spent on here, on the phone finding out how Deb was and then telly watching before going to bed and worrying about going back to work on the 2nd!
2nd January 2007
Bless him. Mr K woke me with a callWent to work in a bit of a daze, did sod all, when I got home I rang NTL to pay my bill and then moaned about the late fee they had charged me when I had already paid! They refunded me so that was ok in the end
(bit of festive spirit still hanging around I think.. lol)... to be continued....
