Day two... feel pants today. pants pants pants. I have what other South Beach dieters refer to as The South Beach Flu (although I'm pretty sure other people on other diets get it too) anyway, its a headache and general feeling of tiredness and lethargy, apparently its withdrawal symptoms from the carbs and should pass in a couple of days. My problem at the minute is that when I feel like this I just want to curl up in bed and wolf down a giant bar of cadbury's dairy milk.

I just made mixed bean salad for dinner. It was yummy. I made too much and left LOADS, but I suppose thats good... that I didn't just eat it for the sake of it. Now I'm craving after dinner sweetness... i may treat myself to a nice cup of tea!!!

I have a few recipes and I've ordered the actual South Beach recipe books for more ideas. It's easier because I'm not new to the diet. I know the basic principles and I like to cook and experiment.

I knew I would get the "flu", I did last time as well! I just can't wait for it to pass. And I can't wait for the cravings to go, and the evening munchies habit to fade. It'll happen soon enough.
Co-incidently I get the "flu" coming off the diet as well, when I start eating carbs so it's a good incentive to stay on, I hate feeling like this!

Hiya Silence, sorry your not feeling so great with the 'flu' it will pass eventually and then you will start to feel better once your body gets used to its new conditions. Your cravings will lessen with everyday as well, so keep going, tomorrow will be day 3 and brand new day.

A step in the right direction.
I got up early this morning and went for a little bit of a walk, just for walking's sake. There's a railway line near my house and a bridge across it with a load of steps on either side, so I spent half an hour crossing the bridge, using the steps. My legs are feeling a little tight, but I've done a warm down so I should be ok.
I'm quite proud of myself.
I've ordered a pedometer from amazon, so I'm looking forward to getting that. One of my aims is to work up to 10,000 steps a day.

Wow! That is hard work, so good for you. I reckon if you exercise in the morning it makes you less likely to go off plan during the day cause you dont want to jeopordise your exercise.

I bought some "running shoes" today (not that i'll be running in them any time soon... maybe trainers is a better word... heavens knows why the shop called them running shoes) because the only shoes I have are little pump type things and they're not very comfortable for walking. Hopefully these will be better.

Made the mistake of walking to the supermarket on an empty stomach this afternoon. TEMPTATION!!!! I bought a bottle of diet coke to stave off the hunger. "Flu" is a lot better today.
Had a lovely prawn salad for tea. Just got to overcome those evening munchies now!

And so another evening comes to a close. It's been a strange evening for me, I went for a walk, for an hour and did some thinking. I'm in one of those moods. Something is wrong and I'm restless.

I think it's because I'm impatient. I'm one of those people who likes to see the fruit of her efforts immediately and so this week is going to be painstaking for me. As are the coming months. I promised myself that I would only do my weigh-in once a week... and that means I have to wait until next monday morning to see if all my effort is paying off.

The other thing thats bugging me is the fear of failure. I don't think I can stand to fail another attempt at a diet. But I don't know if I can do it. I don't know if I'm strong enough.
I'm just feeling really really negative.

Hey Silence, well done on your walk this morning, that is most definitely a step in the right direction. You will find that the more you do it, the easier you will find it, and then you will start to enjoy it hopefully and actually want to do it. It won't be such a chore eventually, well thats what I have found anyway.

Sounds like you are getting serious with buying your new trainers and getting a pedometer, good for you hun, anything that helps you on your journey is great.

Keep that motivation going hun.

Day 4: today is a brand new day. I'm still feeling a little down but I'm trying to stay positive. Went for a walk to the supermarket this morning to buy more salad stuff.
