Anyone know anything about Shin Splints??

Hello does anyone know anything about Shin Splints please?

Ive been running on+off for a few weeks now (over 12)and since my run on Sunday, which i found pretty hard going and not even a long distance 2miles tops,i have had painfull legs all down the shin area?
Is this know as Shin Splints and apart from resting is there anything i can do?
    Thanks muchly xx

Hey, I have suffered with SS for about a year.... it's a tricky one... unfortunately rest is the only cure.... You can get shin splint braces to support the area but the best advice is a decent pair of trainers... are you running in cheap trainers? I know that sounds a bit snobby (really isn't meant to be), it's just when I don't wear my Nike runners, I have hell to deal with...but when I wear them....95% improvement...

I get shin splints AFTER a day of running or walking around, but rarely when I'm actually running or walking. It is weird. Shin splints stink!
