Gastric Band Hypnotherapy
Hi I just thought I would update my diary so I can make a fresh starting point. I have been struggleing to get back into the swing of things especially since I am now struggling with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome / ME and finding it difficult to find any consistancy with exercise. I can lose 4-5 lbs, like over the last few weeks, and then put it all back on plus more the week after. I have found my body and mindset just yo yo's and I don't seem to be able to get back down into the 11/12 stones.
I have so many health issues that keep springing up and as soon as I get one thing sorted something else comes along.
I am now back up to 14st 10lbs and have been thinking and reading up about gastric band surgery! Then I came across a local hypnotherapist that offers Hypnotherapy Gastric Bands with a full support programme during and after as needed. I have spoken to one of the therapists clients, a lovely lady called Julie, and she has shown me evidence including photos and her weight loss journey since she had her Hypno Gastrc band last July and I have to say the results are impressive. She had her Virtual Gastric Band fitted by hynotherapy last July and she was then 18 stone, she is now 13 stone 6lbs.
I am aware that hypnotherapy does not work for everyone and there are therapist out there that are not qualified, but I have researched to find this one and am going to give it a go. I have no idea how well this will work for me but know I have only money to lose and that I am willing to take the gamble on this hynotherapist as he has a great track record and works very hard to support his clients.
I have now completed all my weightloss / health questionaires and await an appointment to discuss these before my therapist will then work on a programme tailor made to suit my needs. This is not a quick fix as it takes several sessions before I will have the Virtual Gastric Band fitted and also my therapist will talk with my GP first to check on the info I have given him about my health problems.
I think we are looking at getting started at the end of February and to be honest I can't wait. I think it is just what I need to support me to my target and beyond. I am so fed up of struggleing on my own and never reaching my goal.
I am going to try to stay here for my diary but may have to move it at some point. I still want to try to work the weight watcher programme into my maintainence if it proves suitable so will try to stay here!
Please feel free to leave your thoughts both negative and positive as you feel fit and I will try to answer any questions some of you may have. I'll write in here leading up to my Virtual Gastric Band and keep a diary going thoughout.
Hope everyone is well........ Jo xxxx

Jo, I'm so sorry you're having a rough time, it's not fair
I've had hypnotherapy for quite a few things. I've had it for fear of flying but I'm not sure if it worked because we and to cancel our holiday and haven't flown since. I also had it when I was carrying my little girl, I had hyperemesis ( what Kate Middleton was in hospital for ) I was so sick, I was in hospital for ages on a drip i couldnt loft my head it was horrid. A customer of my husband gave me 2 sessions and when she bought me round after the first one she asked my son if he wanted a sandwich, whilst I was Ill I couldn't even be in the same room as someone who was eating but I sat next to him whilst he ate his sandwich and I even asked for one, it was cheese and grapes on fresh grainy bread. I hadn't eaten anything other than ready salted hula hoops for about 10 weeks. That evening we went out for a meal and I had turkey pie and mash, it's mad that I remember exactly what I ate, I was still sick but it was like "normal" morning sickness. She gave me another session just in case as a top up.
I believe hypnosis works if you believe.
Sorry if I've gone on a bit but it was what should of been a happy time but it was awful, then it was turned around and turned into how it should've been which I believe was because of hypnosis.
Thanks hun for your post. Don't be sorry for going on, it was helpful for me to read your experience. You are right it should of been a time to remember , so thank goodness the hypnosis worked for you at such a precious time in your life.

I have a relaxation recording to listen too from the Hypnotherapst I am going to use for my Gastric Band Hypnosis. I am using it to help to get my head realdy to start my therapy at the end of February. It also helps to get you used to the person you are to have session with.
I have used it mainly in the evening and each time have not remembered all the way through. I remember to about just before half way through and then nothing else until I come around at the end lol. I have felt so relaxed after each ltime I have listened and just go to bed afterwards and sleep like a baby. My hubby Keith said he has even popped into the room to see if I want a cuppa but all he found was me out for the count :0) Jo x
cambridge Diet started 16 April
Week 1. -9
Week 2-3. -1 lb
Week 4. -5lb
DONT LOOK BACK
UNLESS YOUR PLANNING TO GO THAT WAY XXX
I'm glad you're relaxing Jo. Stress doesn't help with weight loss, apparently stress produces cortisol (I think it's that) which stops you loosing.

Yes your so right, we all feel much better if we are relaxed and therefore our eating is more lightly to be healthier rather that craving all the wrong foods when we are stressed. Jo x

One of the most exciting things I am looking forward to in my hypnotherapy sessions is working on the reasons behind my overeating / bad eating habits. I think the reason I always find it so hard to stick long term to any diet/exercise programme, is because I have never really addressed the reasons why I was obese / overweight in the first place.
An example of this is when I gave up smoking in 2008 I never looked at ways to cope with the void of not smoking. I still crave for something everytime I have a cuppa, I still crave for something after I finish a meal. More often then not I use food to fill that void.
I hope with having a opportunity to look at this during my sessions, I will not only of kicked the habit of smoking but also kick the unhealthy subsitutes I use to fill the void! Jo x

Just an update on my health issues. I have been still getting alot of pain in my abdomen and also my pelvic area, so GP referred me to a Gynae. I saw a Gynae consultant today and she is arrangeing for me to have further tests including an ultra scan. She said she thinks alot of my pain is probably due to the excessive scar tissue from my bowel & hernia operations. Also the conultant said that she would make sure there isn't any lasting problems from when my womb was perforated. On top of that she said that due to the large mesh that was inserted to repair the hernia I am more then lightly going to have on going discomfort.
The possitive that come from the apt was the consultant has prescribed some pain relief that will hopefully help when things are bad. Up until now no-one has given me anything strong enough to help. I am pleased that the consultant is going to get me properly checked out as I need to know that there isn't anything new gong on and then I can work on dealing with the pain if it is going to be long term. Its been a lovely weekend weather wise. The sun has been out all day today. It was a shame that Harley has been running a temp all day and feeling poorly. Thank goodness for calpol. Tomorrow we had planned a visit to my parents but will have to see how Harley is first. I hope everyone else has had a good weekend! Jo x

We have all come down with cold/ flu like symptoms. I think we are passing it to one another . Little man is still running a temp in between his calpol. Gp said she will see him again if not better by end of week. I hate it when Harley is unwell, hubs and I can cope but little ones find it hard. Lets hope he gets to enjoy some of this lovely weather before he goes back to pre-school next week. I have made some homemade chicken soup to see if I can get anyone to eat something.Jo x
