Hi all. My name is Barb and I'm 46. I have thyroid problems so weight loss is a big problem for me. I recently joined SW but only lost 2 lbs in 3 weeks :cry:so i started to do WW on my own at home last week and lost 2lbs :D

Reason I didnt join a group is because I'm having surgery next week so wont be able to drive for 6 weeks but will be unable to attend any class for at least 2 weeks. After that, I think I might join and get hubby to drive me :). He's pretty good like that.

Anyway, I'm so glad I found this forum because whilst sitting on my bum doing nothing whilst I convalesce, I need support from you lot to ensure I dont end up a huge heifer  Ideally, I'd like to come back to work in 2 months slimmer and sleeker :8855:(dream on Barb)

Thanks for listening/reading guys :D

Hello! im back today did ww a while ago and did well.... but have our holiday coming up in about 9weeks to need to shift a few pounds! :)

Good luck im sure you will do fine xxx

Good luck with the operation Barb. Know the feeling I am out of work since March 22nd with illness (kinda house bound at the mo'). Me, too I have thyroid problems too and am on medication for this too. Weight loss does seem hard when you suffer from this.

Hoping for a loss this week but not going to cry if I don't as I am on steroids this week from the doc (boo hoo).

Welcome and good luck

Just a bit of positive info. I have an underactive thyroid too and am on thyroxine meds. Alhough if your thyroid is out of sinc it can cause weight gain and make losses difficult, once the levels of meds are stable there is no reason not to lose weight. So think positive, it can be done. Oh I'm diabetic too, and am still losing

Thanks Ladies

I actually have an over active thyroid but sit in the 10% of the population who have symptoms of underactive.:wave_cry:
So I had the weight gain and the apathy etc etc. I'm now on carbimazole to block my thyroid function and levothyroxine 75mcg to replace what I'm not making myself :(. However its all being stopped September after I've recovered from surgery and then if I relapse, it'll be radio active iodine drink to completely kill my thyroid:8855:

Anyway, am trying really hard to lose weight which I've put on and know its going to be hard when I'm convalescing but judt dont want to get any bigger

Hi Barb welcome and well done for the positive weightloss goal :)
I know a few people who have had the op and they were much better after.
My Mum has a thyroid with not much umphh shes on a meds and did ww 2 years ago and lost 1lbs everyweek bar 2 or 3 she lost 50lbs in just under a year :) She used to walk alot,so hopefully when you felly well you could do that?
Ive polycystic ovearies and weight gain has been my baine since 1989 at 19 :(
We're a lovely bunch here like a big family :)

Good plan to get the weight loss started before any possible medical interventions. Thyroid is a strange one, colleague of mine has the same issue as you, she has had the treatment and is doing great.

Good luck
