Hi!

I am terrible at introductions, so I'm just going to jump right in and explain why I'm here.

I'm 26 years old and I have 18 stone to lose. Awful, right? 18 stone! That's a whole other fat person! But, it's the start of a brand new year and after the ups & downs of 2013, I feel like this is the right time for me to finally do this.

I'm not an official paid up member of the Weight Watchers club as finances are pretty tight at the moment and I can't really afford the meetings or the online membership. But I am following the points system as I think it allows the most flexibility.

I really want to do this. I've recently started Fluoxetine for depression, but I think losing weight will help me feel better about myself and ultimately help me cope without meds.

Other than general weight loss, I have a few other goals I'd like to achieve this year, such as getting fit enough to join a gym and complete one of the free British Military Fitness sessions. But I'm going to build up to that. I want to see the weight coming off first. :)

I'm hoping that by posting this, I'll be held accountable and forced into sticking to it instead of giving up like I have in the past.

Good luck!!! It sounds like you are in the right frame of mind and feeling positive about your goals!
I don't go to a meeting either. I get the support from here and use my value diary ap which is great for tracking.
Good look..maybe start a diary on here xxx

Thank you!

I'm nervous about starting Weight Watchers. Last year, I lost about 20lbs in 6-7 weeks by going low carb, but I fell off the wagon completely around the middle of November due to depression. I'm hoping that now I've started taking medication and I'm not feeling as low, I'll finally succeed in losing the weight.

Part of me wonders if Weight Watchers will work for me, though. It's not that I doubt the plan itself, it's more than I worry that I'm incapable of losing weight, no matter how strict I am with myself!

But, I know low carb works for me, as does cutting out wheat/grains, so I'm going to incorporate that into the Weight Watchers point system. Lean meat, healthy fats, good carbs, etc.

I really want to look back at the end of this year and be like, wow! I did an awesome job!

Hi I'm also new well I did come here briefly last year but I'm committed now. I'm sure if you want it enough you will hun just be strong and my advice is always plan head plan your meals for the week it always helps me ( I've lost 2st on ww so far) good luck xx

Thanks!

I'm sure if I follow the plan the way I'm supposed to, it will work for me. I just get nervous about failing. I tried Weight Watchers once before but gave up. I've enquired about weight loss surgery but cancelled my appointments out of fear of the operation. I've tried Atkins, counting calories, meal replacement shakes and low carb. The only one that really worked for me was low carb, but like I mentioned before, my depression knocked me off the wagon.

But this time I'm going to stick to my points, stick to low carb and plan my meals in advance and hopefully seeing the scales go down will help motivate me to stay on track!

I'm also going to speak to a doctor about starting Orlistat, or maybe even getting an exercise prescription. I don't want to seem like I'm taking advantage of what the NHS has to offer, but I would rather get as much help as possible now so that the weight comes off and stays off, rather than waiting until it starts to affect my health.

I will post a food diary ASAP.

Get all the help you need to get that weight off, their are great recipes on line that everyone can eat ( my hubby doesn't even know he is eating ww meals some times) you don't have to buy expensive foods either there are great foods that are low in points and price,
Anyway good luck I look forward to following your successful weight loss story

Get out there Hon and grab WHATEVER help is available to you. We are all here for the same purpose and no ones "journey" (X factor moment lol) will be the same. You do what you need to to get you to your goal and in the meantime we are all here when you want us.

Welcome and good luck, just take it one week at a time, if you follow the plan fully it will work for you we are all here as support, i have stopping going to meetings too as money situation not good either so now just weight myself once a week in local chemist and i know that will keep me on track physically going out to get weighted rather than doing it at home.

I have noticed how many on here are not going to meetings due to cost. I am paying the monthly pass thing which helps but I do understand that this is still money that's needed for essentials for a lot of people. I think the cost of the classes needs addressing. Afterall the WW fund is down to their products surely, not the actual attendance fee. More people would attend if they re thought this. My class is a good one with leader really putting effort in with meals etc that she cooks however I know this is not the same for a lot of classes. Once again the cost can exclude people who genuinely want to lose weight and not everyone has online access either. Not wanting to cause a riot.... wouldn't have posted this on other sites lol

Hi I'm new too started yesterday! Still trying to get my head round everything :) depression is a horrible thing it's like a vicious circle it caused me to eat which then lead to putting the weight on then I'd feel bad and end up eating again! Good luck!

Over here we only get a choice of going to class no online membership, its €10 a week with and we dont get any real offers at all just maybe a class fee if you pay for 6 weeks. Our leader isnt great only got one recipe off her the six months i was going and we dont get any weekly booklets like i think ye do in UK so no point spending that much money when i dont really get anything out of it. They def should address the cost of meetings its a rip off when they make a lot of money on their products etc

I can find all the info I need online and I have a tracker app that's great, so I can't see any reason to pay £6 or whatever it is a week just to have someone else weigh me.

I did go to meetings about 6-7 years ago and to be honest, they bored me. And I spent too much money on the products they flog!

I Agree. I downloaded an app for about £3 and use that. It's great x
