    Hi all,

I've got to the point now where ive completely had enough of my weight and know i need to sort it.

At last weigh in at home i was 23st7lbs. Totally disgusted with myself for getting to this extent again.

Was basically looking for opinions to see if you think WW would be a good option for me and also if it'd be suitable long term as id be in for the long haul.

    All info appreciated.

Hi there! Sorry to hear you are so low. I did WW a good few years ago and did get into it and lost about a stone (ideally I would have liked to lose another half, but never mind). I followed it on and off roughly for the next few years, but when it changed to pro points I wasn't able to get into it any more and I lost the plot. I am now trying SW and can't believe the choice and the fact that there is no counting involved. It suits me as I like to cook from scratch and I love the variety I'm allowed.

To me SW seems more of a way of life and I know more people who have lost really large amounts of weight on SW than on other diets.

I hope you can get your head around it all again and things will seem more positive soon I'm sure.

Hiya... After doing both diets I must say I enjoy ww more I feel Sw was very restricting on treats and I'm a huge choc lover, also I have a tendency to over eat so tell me I can eat a massive bowl of pasta and I will cus I'm allowed I think I need strict portions find ww makes me feel better wheras Sw made me feel sluggish and tired all the time! It's about personal choice my friend did Sw and lost 6stone since august so it is a great eating plan that also works well, a lot of it is in the mind so make sure ur head is ready for change and that u feel positive which ever diet plan u decide to do! All the best with your slimming journey, kirsty xo

Hi , sorry to her your feeling low.

weight watchers is defo a way of life for me now after losing 2 stone and managing to maintain it over the years. Takes a while as it comes off healthily and steadily but as soon as you start to feel slimmer or you get your "have you lost weight" comments it will spur you on.
It changed my perception of eating and even tho I have some rough patches (putting on nearly a stone over xmas)I know I can always come back to it and defo lose weight so long as I stick to my points.

Good luck with your weight loss journey whatever plan/slimming club you choose to try

    Thanks all for the comments.

I've thought about this non stop since posting last night. Had a horrible nights sleep too.

My OH has said if i join a meeting he'll go with me as he wants to lose 3 stone or so which can only help.

I'm needing to change pretty much everything to get me back on track, i know i can do it though as i cant get any bigger. I'm 28 and struggle taking my 6yo daughter to school and back. My IBS is awful and so's the reflux. If i dont do it now i know the weight will end up killing me. Not being dramatic just honest.

How have you all found changing your eating habits? IE rubbish to more home cooked from scratch.

Hi, I started my journey 4years ago at 21st 7lbs. It's is a journey and you will need to choose a diet that you can stick to in the long term. Ww works for me (although my weight loss slowed down at around 13 st so I switched to dukan to get to my goal 2yrs ago).

I've put on some weight due to ill health and bad choices but I'm back on track now. Take the plunge, it will be the last time you'll see that weight on the scales (and all the other things, I remember always needing a extra large blood pressure cuff, being terrified of getting stuck in turnstiles, only ever buying clothes in Evans...).

    Good luck hunny

Im a fan of WW too as i find i need the points to tell me when to stop eating as i have no portion control and i know if i stick to the points i will lose weight whereas with slimming world i tend to overeat and end up puttin on weight.

It is great your hubby will do it with you as will make it a lot easier for you to have that support at home. Id say give it a shot and see how you get on what have you to lose? (other than the weight )

Hi, I don't post on here much but your message above really touched me as I think I can say that I was feeling the same before Christmas. I have tried every diet there is and seem to bounce (quite literally ;-)) between being 100% motivated and 100% depressed. I joined WW on 7th November 2013 weighing 23st 11lb, I now weigh 22st 2lb. It's only early days but this feels different, I didn't have a "final" gorge on everything bad and I don't seem to be getting massive mood swings. In the first few weeks you can have about 49/50 Pro points plus the weeklies, this means I have been focusing on my portion control but haven't had to make enormous changes all in one go. That means no crashing detox from sugar etc. I am using my dailies to focus on what i eat and when and keeping my weeklies for a Friday evening when i have a glass of wine and takeaway, i think i know the PP value in just about every curry now!! As the weeks are passing I am getting consistent loses of between 1 and 3 lbs. In the past a 1lb loss would have sent me off on self destruct thinking it wasn't worth the effort, when you have at least 137lbs to lose it seems impossible at 1lb a week but I am gradually accepting that it is going to take a long time and realising that being sensible about it gives my skin a chance to recover. I really hope you find the diet that clicks for you, WW and SW both have their benefits but one will fit you and just work. You are welcome to ask me anything (I think?!) if you would like a bit more info on WW and going along to your first meeting. Good luck xx

It definately helps to hear from others who know what its like to be over 20 stone. (i know we all have our struggles,it just helps to hear from people close to where i am)

Tbh i never actually considered SW as i have no portion control what so ever. If its classed as free then i'd say fair enough and pile it on!

I like the idea of having the weeklies extra if i want them. That way if i want a weekend 'naughty' i can and still be within points.

Im not a very good cook so turning to scratch cooking is going to be daunting but so long as i take it slow i wont panic.

Good luck with it - great that your OH is going too - will make it so much easier.

I was a WW girl for years and would never knock it as its a great eating plan. I now do SW - suits me better. BUT I'm so glad I did WW first as it teaches much more about portion control (still annoys me when SW leaders go on about these HUGE bowls of pasta you can eat - yeah right!!)

I wish you lots of success

Another wee update.... never got to the meeting on Sat morning. Our daughter toddled through early hours of Sat covered in vomit bless her. She'd tried to get to the loo but couldnt. Ended up having a jammie day with her instead. Turns out her teacher had put the kids packup boxes on a radiator to move them out of the way. Her yoghurts had gone sour and she said her ham sarnie was horrible. Not impressed and the school have been told. Plus side though i havnt overeaten and there is another meeting suitable on Wed night, saves waiting to next weekend again.
