On the F&H list, thar be crumpets, as a food you can have as much as you want of.

Crumpets??

How?

btw I am a Slimming World girl. I am looking at the comparisons between the new WW plan and the SW plan. I fancy a change.

Any stalwarts fancy convincing me? Can you mix and match the plans in the week? Any tips? Any SW deviants who have found the new WW plan better?

Well looking at the NV on my packet they're only about 80 calories which is 2PP. In terms of F&H I they offer good satiety for what they are. Like SW the F&H foods shouldn't be taken as "unlimited".

I've personally tried SW and it wasn't for me. I don't have 100% control of my cooking in the evening and not a huge amount of time at the weekends to make sure every meal made the most of SW free and superfree and the correct amount of HEX, so I very much prefer the flexibility of counting at the moment. I've done both (tried SW stuck with WW since February) so I hope I can help a bit although I'm not an expert on SW (or WW really).

They are both calorie restricted diets that work in different ways. WW "Filling and Healthy" is pretty similar to SW "Extra Easy" I think, but they have different lists of what is restricted and what isn't and WW have the 49 weekly extra points to use for flexibility not the 15 syns and small amounts of A&B per day but IIRC they work out at roughly the same in terms of calories consumed, its just which way you prefer doing it. There are a few posts from people who've switched over and liked it recently.

WW embraces a more "everything in moderation" approach than SW does (in my limited experience) fairly strict portion control of protein and carbs with veg counting as zero works better for me than "free" protein or carbs at the moment, but that's counting not F&H, which as I said is fairly similar to SW except there are no original or Green days.

You can certainly switch between counting and F&H during the week though, and that's helpful going both ways. I do try and eat 75-80% F&H even though I count and it seems to be working well for now.

Hey Featherhat, thanks for the reply!

Yes, it's the SW type feel which combines the portion control that really appeals to me at the moment. I like the idea of doing mostly F&H and combining with perhaps 2 PP days, eg if I want a Chinese, with SW I would just beat myself up because it would be mostly syns, with WWPP many Chinese meals are pointed, and I could just have minimal points in the day and have my Chinese guilt free once a fortnight or something.

I lost 9 stone about 5 years ago and have put around 6 back on. I did it with my own combo of SW and WW which sounds ever so much like F&H. I would be interested to see if this works as SW alone is not doing it for me at the minute.

One more question, if I may, as searching is bringing up several answers/opinions - blended frozen fruit for smoothies, zero points or PP? At the minute I am loving green smoothies, a handful of Kale, half a cucumber, a small handful of frozen blueberries and half a banana with some Almond milk. Would I have to point this?

Ah, that's the big question isn't it? Opinions do vary and it depends somewhat on personal circumstance. I don't point the fruit in smoothies. I didn't get over weight from eating fruit, far from it. I point any milk, protein powder, peanut butter etc I use but not fruit. Your recipe sounds delicious and within reasonable portions of fruit. If anyone was having 3 massive "zero" 500 calorie smoothies a day thinking they could "cheat" the system and still eat the rest of their points I would be concerned but you've got a good balanced smoothie there so I wouldn't worry unless you were also having a lot more fruit a day after that.

If you join remember to tick off the fruit and veg portions on the tracker and maybe consider pointing if you go well over that for fruit or have more than 1 banana a day. The old points system had people counting fruit but they realised if an apple was the same points as a cookie than a lot of their customers would eat the cookie, which might have similar calories but none of the health benefits of the apple.

One thing I bear in mind that my leader said a few months ago was to remember that blending/pulping fruit was fine to be counted as zero but juicing, even if you did it yourself and had no additives needed to be pointed as simply squeezing the juice left no fibre or many other benefits in the finished product, only the fructose.
