Diet: Weight Watchers
Height: 5' 11"
Start Date: Jan 09 2007
Well Ive got over my hiccup from Thursday and Im glad to say I didnt waver from my diet, although it was HARD!!!

Im really proud that I can say Im nearing the end of my 2nd week where I havent faltered even once. Im really into things now, and have saved some points tonight for a Chinese Take Away, Ive been promising it to myself all week, so long as I stuck to things.

My brother is being amazing!! Now hes spoken to mum and knows shes told me what he said, hes texting me every day to see how I am, not in an irritating way but a nice way. Stuart is a man of very few words so for him to get involved like this is totally out of character.

I dont intend to mention my diet when I go back to work, theres nothing worse that every mouthful of food you take being monitored! And ofcourse doing WW it may look as though Im eating things I shouldnt be. So Ill say nothing and wait until the results are evident for themselves.

I have however told my 2 closest friends, and obviously my family I think that the support is really important - and ofcourse being on here.

Sadly I think Ill be here long after youve all got to goal lol but hey thats ok... Ill get there too

I have one initial goal. The division I worked in sometime ago disbanded in 1997 - God I feel old realising it was so long ago - and a 10 year reunion is being arranged. I am NOT going there to have peoples one observation to be 'Hasnt she piled on the weight' (Especially since my ex and his 'current' wife will probably be there lol). At least Ive got til November til this happens.

So onwards and upwards, hope everyone else is having a good weekend too

Diet: Weight Watchers
Height: 5' 11"
Start Date: Jan 09 2007
Went to the doctors today to get my final sick line. He did offer me one for another week but Ive decided to go back on Wednesday this week. Going back then means Im doing a late shift for 2 days then off 3 then have my 7 day stretch, I thought that might be less of a shock to my system than waiting til next Monday and starting a 7 day shift and an early shift to boot. I HATE early shift!!

Anyway... I digress, which is most unlike me While I was there he brought up my weight. This is a doctor I dont usually go to, and have heard he has quite an abrasive manner so I was instantly on the defensive! Not that I needed to - he was LOVELY!! Weighed me and took my height, told me what he thought I should lose (50% of my current weight!) and described the loss in terms of Irn Bru bottles lol I tell you that was a sobering thought when I realised how many of those Im lugging about every day!

He reckons WW is the way to go and said to go back to him if I feel my weight is plateuing (sp?) as there are things he can prescribe to help. He also emphasised about exercise but again did it in a nice simple 'makes you think' kind of way.

He said if I needed any help to please go back anytime. I suggested I go back in 4 weeks for a weigh in to which he replied 'You know Id LOVE if you did' I think this is another incentive I need, to be 'answerable' to someone if I dont stick to it, and to know Im facing a weigh in. So, someone else, albeit a rather unexpected one, fighting my corner.

Had a good day points wise today. Went to my pals for lunch and resisted a cheese toasty and went for a ham one instead, not nearly as tasty but least I dont feel guilty

HI Sandy, well done you for finding probably the only doctor in existence who is actually supportive when it comes to weight loss...and is actively taking a positive role...really well done, I'd love to have someone like that and I do believe it can make all the difference.

Also good to know he thinks WW is the way to go.

Well done on making the healthy choice on the toasties, both of them sound yummy!

Joe

Well I finally went out today and met my friend from our postponed lunch last week. Its wonderful to have someone else so understanding. We had a quick lunch, which he provided, and it was all low fat or point free things. He even produced a WW Switch Handbook and Shopping Guide for me Hed had a quick read up of the handbook and has actually taken in quite a bit, knew all about saving my points, how they were worked out etc!! We had a long long long!! talk about how I was feeling, what I was doing, hoping to achieve and how he could help me. I got a bit emotional but a big hug made things better, arent big 'man size' hugs just the business lol

We went out for Chinese tonight, but I was very careful with my choice, had no alcohol and no dessert so feeling quite pleased with myself. All this support is just amazing, its nice to know people care. He really is my best friend

Not the most interesting read for anyone but I dont know about you all but I really find doing this daily helps too, I guess its another kind of discipline.

All in all another good day.

Hi Sandy,

Your so lucky to have a supportive doctor as it can make such a difference along with all the other support you can muster.

New research is showing that those who do diaries have a higher success rate in the long term.

I think doing a diary helps us to keep our focus and I think the sharing helps others to feel that they are not alone on their journey.

Writing down how you feel and things about eating out and being able to say no and so on do help others as we all have been in different situations or will be in the future and you never know what you say here might play a part in someones life down the line...awesome really when you think about it.

We can all learn so much from one another.

Love Mini xxx

Well done on being good for your meal out! If that was me I'd have probably eaten so much I'd have popped!...which is exactly the reason why I can't trust/allow myself to go out for meals when I'm dieting It takes real will power to go out for dinner and still be good, so give yourself a big pat on the back for that!

You're so right about the manly hugs! You've made me jealous, now I want one too! Lol.

I also agree with you about it being helpful to post on here. I started off posting in my diary every day, but now I don't seem to be so strict with it...perhaps that's why I've started to struggle on occassion? I think I'll take a leaf out of your book and get back to posting every day, it helps keep me motivated and it's always nice to look back on it too eh.

Anyway, I shouldn't probably get to bed before I hit the kitchen cupboards (hehehe!) so well done on your progress so far and I'll catch up with your thread tomorrow.

Ta ta for now

Definitely keep the diary up Marie, it makes a difference and if nothing else it keeps our little WW part of the forum active, and hopefully the activity will keep increasing

Hiya honey

That's wonderful news about your doctor. Someone should clone him and put him into every practice in the country I reckon

As for having to be 'answerable' to someone else, I can think of at least two people apart from your doctor who are fighting your corner and who expect weekly updates (clue: I'm just one of them *lol* )

Glad you had such a good time with your best pal yesterday too

Take care, and have a great day!

Love

Well done on going out to lunch and being good, that is my one downfall, I eat everything I see when I go out, thinking its ok I'll get back on track tomorrow, but tomorrow doesn't come for weeks!
