Hey everyone! I thought I would give this whole forum thing a try! I have never really been on a forum before but I really think the support from other people would help me a lot, I do have a lot of support at home with my boyfriend and family but i have said about going to lose weight that many times they kind of think that I will do it for a week and drop it but ohh no defiantly not this time!!

So I got prescribed Xenical by my Doctor a few months ago but never bothered to take them until one day it really hit me how bad my weight is! :(..

I have tried a lot to lose weight in the past.. Slimming World.... The gym..... Wii Fit.. Swimming.. But nothing ever seems to work for me and my weight has just kept creeping up.. In January I was around 15 stone then when I went to the doctor and he prescribed me the Xenical i was 16 stone and now 2 months later I am 17 STONE!!.. I really did not think I was that big :( but now it has made me more determined than ever to lose weight!!

I have been on Xenical a week now and I think I have been very good in my diet. I don't like much vegetables so I have been eating a lot of fruit instead..

It would really be a help to me if some people could suggest some food for me and I would be soo grateful..

Thank you :) xx

Hi ShellyBop!

I'm another newbie, both to Xenical and to this forum...started both last week!

Like you I have tried almost everything else going...apart from the exercise, disability means I can't exercise......but with a healthy diet and the Xenical I'm going to do it this time - and you will too!

When you say you don't like much veggies - have you experimented much? There are some quite tasty ones out there and how you cook them can make all the difference! You can make some really nice soups...I make a divine curried sweet potato soup (sometimes I'll use butternut squash instead of sweet potato) and add beans or chickpeas to make a more substantial meal. (It's low in fat - lots of home made soups are - so I'm not going to have to stop eating it!)...if you like fruit, then try some of the milder, sweeter veggies - have you tasted fennel? grated with orange for a quick salad or drizzled with a little honey and orange juice and roasted as a veggie wth a main meal (fennel has a sort of aniseedy taste)...mushrooms, dry-fried , add some garlic, mix with a little low-fat yogurt (delicious on toast or as a veg with chicken)

(I rather love my veggies....actually I pretty much love all my food!)

Hi Shelly & welcome to the boards.

Scary isn't it how quickly it goes on. I always thought I plateaued at about 16 stone but when I started xen in Oct I was 18st 13.5lbs. But with hard work & the support of family, friends & the amazing members on here I am nearly 6 stone less. I would never have believed it I you'd told me when I started & I really believe if I can do it anyone can! I don't take xen any more but this is where I still get the most support!

We will be starting a Christmas challenge later this month so if you want to join that to give you something to aim towards, I've found them a great help!

Good luck, onwards & downwards x

Thanks for replying both of you :)

I really hope I can do it this time. I do a 3 mile walk a few times a week also and hoping to start doing it every afternoon.

Buttonboots, I like carrots and peas and that's really all I can stand unless I cant see it on my plate lol

Lexie what sort of diet did you have while you were on Xenical if you don't mind me asking

xx

hey guys i replied the other night and it said it would be posted when the administrator checked it but it hasn't went up for some reason..

I'm thinking of trying a vegetable soup and puree-ing it so I don' t see the veg Buttonboots :)

Lexie what sort of a diet where you on with the Xenical to get those results

Well I been on my diet a week today and I weighed in this morning and had 6 POUNDS off!! soo happy with that :D

Lexie was just following the xen rules we all follow but she was ultra strict! Absolutely nothing over the 5g fat per 100g passed her lips!! She has way more will power than me. However saying that I've still lost 5 stones with a bit of cheating. :) Lexie has never been tangoed but I have and it's not good. So the rule is don't cheat and you'll do as good as Lexie

Ah thanks Kat although I did have Bisto gravy which is nearly 6% I refused to go without gravy lol!

So as Kat says I was really strict but for me it was all or nothing as I'd failed so many times & had to go at it 100%. I've relaxed now & still lose albeit not as quickly as if I was on the 5g rule.

Fantastic first week, well done x

I'm feeling really positive now after getting through the first week! :D.. I was worried in case i would not have anything off and was afraid it might have made me lose faith but thankfully the hard work paid off..

I have been checking everything for fat.. so with Xenical is fat the main thing to look out for?

I am sorry for all the questions its just my doctor is more or less useless

We all found the same with our Drs which is why we ended up here lol!

Yes it's fat, no food you eat should have more than 5g of fat (not saturated fat fullstop) per 100g else you are risking what we call tango which is where the fat will leave your body often without warning!!!! There is a stickie thread on here that explains it all.

You've made a good solid start, think I lost 6lbs my first week too xx

oooooh right ok tango lol.. I have not had it that bad :p

yeah I have been watching what I eat and alot of fruit also..

I am trying to lose a good bit of weight for my sisters wedding in October which is not too far away

xx

I lost 2 stone in my first 12 weeks so you could do pretty well by October x

Losing weight this time feels a lot different to any other time i have tried.. I feel like I can ACTUALLY do it this time which is an amazing feeling!

I fancied some chocolate today as I have not had a piece in two weeks which is like 2 years to me :p.. I have become very concious now of the fat grams in stuff and oh my god the amount of fat in chocolate bars shocked me soo much! I ended up going for a milky way which was 3g compared to 9.9 for a mars which i think is crazy!

xx

Well done that's a big thing but just be warned the Choc could still react with xen as its higher than 5g per 100g.

I felt like you did that I could actually do it this time & so far so good....

Positive thinking will keep you focused x

I went for a 3 mile walk today after my volunteering, not sure it was that good of an idea in that heat. 28 degrees, im so not used to this heat but its brilliant to get it :)

hows your diet going Lexie?

xx

Well done for your walk, I like walking, especially with my ipod on when its about 20 degrees, any warmer & its a little too warm for me.

Diet is good Shelley, I like the fact with CC it fits in to every day life, its not a diet its a normal maintanable way of life. Its funny to think that in 2 stones time I will start having to try & work out what I need to maintain...

What day do you weigh in hon?

Dont apologize hun, I am sure i will pick it all up soon :)..

I thought I would post my food intake for yesterday up and hopefully I am doing it right :D

10.30am - tea with one sugar

1.00pm - red apple, green apple, grapes, banana and orange covered in muller light vanilla yogurt

5.30pm - lean mince and potato

Snack during the day - Weight Watchers angel slice (0.6g per slice)

does this sound like the right things i should be eating?

xx

Yes but watch the fruit intake.

Fruit is natural sugar and good for you but if you have too much it will do the same as other sugars, store as fat unless you burn it off.

The best way is to make sure fruit only takes up 2 of your 5 a day. The rest should be vegetables.

Veg is much better for you than fruit so try and eat as many as possible.

Right here comes the wagon drivers analysis ;o) where is your breakfast? Where is your protein at lunch? I eat a lot of fruit too but I know which are the lower & try to stick to berries... I'm a big protein fan, I find it keeps me fuller longer.

Are you on mfp? That will work out your cals for you, I don't think you look like you ate many calories & you should never go below 1200 or your body will go in to starvation mode xx
