    No Regrets Wedding Day Bride

    Hi all.
    I decided to start my own Xenical Diary that i'm doing in conjunction with Slimming World.
    Since I went to university I have struggled with my weight gaining and losing the same two stone over a 10 yr period!
    So when my fiancée proposed this summer with the hope of getting married next summer it is time to take charge of my weight problem once and for all.

    I've tried every diet under the sun and sometimes I think with all my knowledge I could set up my own slimming club... I'm just not able to put it into practice! My new little blue pills are gonna become my will power pills and I'll continue to follow the slimming world plan but keeping a close eye on the fat content of food.

    I have talked to several brides over the years who regret not losing enough weight for their wedding day. I honestly do not want to look back on my wedding day with regrets. I have already been a bridesmaid several times and am unhappy with most of the pictures due to my weight.

    I weighed in at Slimming World today at 14 stone 4lbs.
    First goal to lost 5lbs to get into the 13 stone bracket.

    So I am 24hrs on xenical now and have been grand. No changes at all. Went out for lunch today and tried where possible to keep to salad stuff. I did have some feta cheese salad and i'm positive the dressing was olive oil! But that was three hours ago... Wonder how long it takes to get in your system?
    Also for dinner this evening we have guests over so i'm cooking one meal for them and another for myself and my sister in law (we're both doing Xenical together but we're not telling anyone yet, We both go to slimming world anyways)

    So I am three days on Xenical now and no side effects yet thank God!! I've had egg for breakfast each day and thankfully I'm not one of those who gets side effects from them.
    I had another family get together last night where my brother was cooking amazing curries loaded with cream. Thankfully they had another option of steak and veg for the slimmers. However I didn't end up eating in the end has I had a terrible pain in my stomach, didn't know what it was from to be honest. It might have been a combination of the tablets and my period being due.
    However afters when they were all drinking Baileys coffees topped with whip cream and chocolate, I did cave a little bit on slimming world side and had some toffee popcorn. I checked the fat content first and it was 4.6g per 100g so it was ok.

    Looks like I spoke to soon when I told you I had no side effects - my friend came round on Tuesday with a nice big slice of her wedding cake for me. She doesn't know I'm on orlistat, and it looked to good to turn down, so I served up half the slice with a cup of tea. I ate it, was fine. Wednesday morning came, I went to weigh in at SW. All fine. Came home - though 'well, I've had cake with no side effects, I may as well finish it...' - ate the rest of the slice. Wednesday afternoon, I felt very rumbly, passed wind involuntarily and leaked copious amounts of oil (sorry for TMI). And it continued until FRIDAY! Horrendous. I later found out that the 2 slices of bacon a day I had enjoyed Sunday - Tuesday were also prohibited (at 30% fat), so fatty bacon plus fruit cake made for a terrible few days for me. Learned my lesson anyway! No cake or bacon!
    I hope you've managed to remain symptom free.

    Sainsbury do be good to yourself bacon, and there are the turkey rashers .. Which from memory should be fine

    Been there with the Tango effect .. Not a good experience.. Once a food is eaten It can take from a few hours to 48 hours to get a response - it all depends on your metabolism and how fast/ slow it is ! The 5% rule is golden !

    Hi Lux and Mis-Behave (Love the name),

    So had my first weigh in today being xenical and slimming world and I lost 3lbs!Now I am delighted as I rarely get a big loss but i'm a tiny bit disappointed too because a lot of the first weight in was bloatedness from drinking at the weekend and TOTM. SO I prob would have lost 2lbs anyways. My sister in law only lost half a pound and she's devastated!! Hopefully it'll show for her next week.
    So I had a slight bit of the tango... no embarrassing incidents but enough to make me know I have to behave. To be honest I'm not sure what caused it. I had popcorn at the cinema one night (maybe half a small box) that was my only treat, the following morning my Fiancé made scrambled eggs for us and he swears he only but a scrape of butter in it (he was warned not to so I was annoyed) or the cereal bar I had in my friends house instead of the biscuits or maybe it was a combination of all 3 things in a 24hr period.

    Now if I managed to get another 3lbs next week I would be THRILLED!
    But.... I am going on a "food tour" with the girls on Saturday it's part of the food festival and I booked and paid my place months ago before I got engaged and started Xenical. I don't want to miss it. So when do ye recommend I stop taking the tablets? I was going to take my last tablet with dinner on Thursday so I'd be tablet free friday and saturday? or do ye recommend I stop on wednesday? There's 20 of us on the tour and it's an hour from home so I really don't want an 'incident'....?

    Enjoy the food festival!!. I've read it stays in your system potentially 72 hrs after the last pill. If you were certainly going to eat fatty foods on the weekend and don't want to risk it at all, I'd recommend not taking them tomorrow until 2 days after the fatty food.

    But if They're still in your system then if your will power gives up on Thursday/Friday you'll end up 'paying for it' on the Saturday when you're out! Eek! They should still work as a deterrent

    I would have your last tablet Thursday night and then have your 1st one when you eat your 1st meal back home.. Better to just get back on the wagon .. If anything happens "tango" wise better out than in I say lol

    I would also try and think about what your eating while your away as it's your eating habits your trying to change .. Smaller portions and no 2nd helping .. Salads with dressing on the side .. Ask for grilled meats .. Have only 2 slices pizza not more .. It's all about how you think about food.. Have control and don't go mad . Best of all have fun with your friends .. If they are your friends they will understand your reasons for wanting to eat less and to look good for your wedding .. Everyday of eating within the rules puts you a day closer to your slimmer self

    That's very good advice Mis-behave. What I think the food tour is, you go to the a selected few restaurants with your tour guide and each restaurant gives you a sample of their best dish and a small glass of alcohol to accompany it. There is probably 5/6 stops. Then most of the girls are heading out for the night but i'm gonna head home and save the hangover and calories! I'm away the following weekend too but i'll be able to control the food choices then so not too worried.
    K I've decided I'll take my last pill tomoro with dinner, so i'll have Thurs/Fri without, food tour saturday and back on them sunday morning with breakfast.

    So I was right about the will power leaving me. I took my last tablet with dinner on Wednesday.I'm sick with a sinus infection since. I'm on antibiotics and three different nasal sprays. Yesterday I was too ill to think about food. Today I've a path worn to the kitchen nibbling on little things. All I'm craving is carbohydrates. But dinner was a disaster!! I cooked two of this fab kievs by the Birdseye inspiration range (300 calories each!) and has them with three slices of white bread with butter and followed it with a loop the loop!! Feeling like a right piggy now and hoping if I'm to have any effects they'll happen before I go on the food tour. Feeling annoyed with myself but at least I know the xenical is a good deterrent because I didn't dare touch anything fatty for the 10 previous!!

    Oh my weekend was just a disaster! The food tour was disappointing, to be honest the food wasn't great and the portions were small enough. After 5 stops we were all hungry! We ordered a few plates of chips to share and I swear I ate a full plate myself!! I lost count of the amount of alcohol I had, but a small victory.... When my sister was getting a take away on the way home I was strong and refused!!

    Sunday morning woke up hungover and had a bag of chickatees and a can of coke for breakfast!! Had several sandwiches throughout the day and garlic mushrooms and chips.

    This morning I woke up and weighed myself and I was 5lbs up!!! Devastating! Now I know I bloated from alcohol but 5lbs is shocking!! I hope it's not true weight gain. It spurred me into action though and I went for a 30min brisk walk before my breakfast. I was meant to go to a fitness class this evening too but went my friend bailed on me I have to say I was glad! Was gonna go on my cross trainer instead but when I got on it the batteries were flat so no resistance. So didn't bother then. I'm well under my calories on my fitness pal though and back on the tablets now. As I type this my fiancé is sitting beside me eating biscuits and a fredo bar!! But I'll be strong cos I don't want side effects!!!

    I've slimming world tomoro but I think I'll take a holiday. I always go normally no matter the consequences but I really don't think I can face it for the first time because the gain will be massive. I'll decide in the morning.
