    I had this problem in the chemist yesterday, my chemist rang round and found some for me eventually and I have to wait till Monday afternoon to collect them. She also said they had changed names, she also said that towards the end of each month its harder to get the prescription due to them only distributing certain amounts at the beginning of each and every month?
    First Attempt at Xenical - September 2011
    Starting Weight was 274.75 - 19 St 8 and 3/4
    Second Attempt at Xenical - Starting 2nd Jan 2012
    Starting Weight was 269lbs -19st 3
    Dieting Without Xenical due to Shortages from 26th March 2012
    Weeks 1 - 4 -7.5lbs
    Week 5 - 8 -2.5lbs
    Week 9 - 12 -5lbs
    Week 13 - 16 - +1.5
    Week 17 - 19 - 3.5lb

    When I rang to get brochure, Roche company told me there was a fire in the manufacturers, and that there would be a short supply of xenicol but alternatives would be there

    have you had a chat with the chemist you usually get your medication from. sometimes they will liase with the doctor for you. its worth a try. i have known a pharmacist give me my medication without a script when they know i have it regulaly and have not had the script. i realise this wont work with xenicol but if you have the script i would have thought they would deal with it.

    Doctors should really prescribe drugs by the proper name of the drug (orlistat in this case) and not the brand name (ie Xenical) so then the chemist can give you any brand as long as it says orlistat on the box. This is why doctors (mine anyway) don't prescribe "Calpol" they prescribe "paracetamol elixir" or whatever. Just doing it to confuse us I reckon.
