Pixi's Diary

Hi all,

Not been on here for a long time... About 4 years actually! In that time a lot has happened and I've been under a massive amount of pressure. I have gained an extra 11lb too (less than I thought but it's all on my belly).

This year things have to change.... There will be lots of changes in my life and I'd like my health to be top of the list of the ones I can control.

I did do Atkins in 2010 but only for a month as I wasn't really supported at home. This time the husband is also ready for a change. We started just over a week ago and I lost 9lb at first weigh in. A pleasing start!

Feel I have done a really good job of meal planning - we've eaten really well. I do think I've had too much veg each day tho so I should prob start weighing it out!

Yesterday we had:
B - omelette with courgette and spinach
L - lettuce, radish, cucumber, avocado salad with prawns and oil/lemon juice dressing
D - steak with spinach, mushroom and half a baked aubergine

All these foods are taken from the induction section of the Book (2003 version) but I know everyone has their own experiences of things that work.

Although most of my reasons for this are important and life changing I do have a short term goal...
I am going on a trip with some family in May and I would really like to get on the plane without worrying about asking for a seatbelt extension I know the airlines don't mind but I do... I see the looks of other passengers and I don't want to embarrass my family.

So, a silly goal but important to me!

Ciao for now

Hi Pixi, welcome (back) :)

That's not a silly goal at all! I think it's fab you have a 'mini' goal to work towards. You can do this!
Your menu looks really good too, very yummy.

Well done on your 9lbs loss. What a great start.

My hubby has also been doing atkins with me this time round...And it's been so much easier. We've been doing it since 01.09.14 and between us we have lost almost 4 stone (Nearly 2.5 for me and he has lost 1.5)

We are loving it - and are finding that doing it together has been so much easier. :)

thanks for the reply. It is so much easier with him on board.

This morning was filled with ironing etc then we went for a walk in a local nature reserve. Only 2k as it is freeeeezing! Then off to the supermarket for the week ahead.

menu today:
B - mim
L - salad with chicken drumsticks
D - chicken curry (chicken cooked in curry paste made of fresh ginger, chillies, garlic, coriander and some ground spices) with courgette, spinach and some cauli rice.

Yum, your menu looks delish! Especially the Curry. Well done on your walk too. x

Hi Pixi and welcome. Agree it's much better when your partner on board:) a warning though they may well lose lots while still sneaking naughty biscuits - very frustrating!

Personally I don't think limiting green veg is necessary - it's pretty hard to overdo them and they make a great filling part of the meal. I like 2/3 of my plate to be veg:D

Good luck!

Thanks Katie. He has a lot less to lose and is already annoying me by looking slim and handsome!

I'm a bit down today. Had a mim for last three days for breakfast but concerned it has taken me out of ketosis. I've been really good with everything else... Mim is the only thing that changed but I was desperate for more fibre!!! (Not that it's worked yet :grumble:)

good day at work today. Now home and off for a walk before dinner.

B - mim
L - ham salad
D - cheeseburger in lettuce wrap with red/white cabbage coleslaw.
W - ~3l

Me again...

long day today! Work busy but nice.

B - mim
L - ham salad
D - sea bass with ginger, spring onion & chilli, spinach, leeks and broccol.
W - loads!

weigh in tomorrow but not expecting great things this week.

Hi Pixi, dinner sounds yum:)

I found I had to keep mims down to only half a day, otherwise they stalled me! Other ideas to keep things moving spinach and physillium husk

Thanx ☺️ Will give anything a go really!

2lb off this week. That's 11 in two weeks. Does this sound normal? I'm pleased :) but would like to see some bigger numbers again!

Planned menu:
B - 1/2 mim
L - roast beef salad
D - lamb kofta with veg and cauli couscous (with feta, olives, cucumber and spring onion)

hopefully a a walk too. Been looking for a gym that will let me just have a swimming pass. Local pool full of my pupils!!

have a nice day all :)

11lbs in two weeks sounds normal to me. Well done, that's great!
Again, ur menu looks lovely :)
Have a good day. X

Thanks we both love cooking. Yesterday didn't work out quite as planned. Had a tummy ache all day so didn't eat until the evening. Koftas and cous cous worth the wait tho.

Today's menu:
B - cheese
L - sliced beef and salad
D - chicken stuffed with blue cheese, kale and baked aubergine
W - loads

been wii boxing with the husband... Nice workout if he let me play long enough before knocking ME out

Evening all,

It's been a funny couple of days. Still suffering with a tummy ache but it's better than it was. Good day at work yesterday then a quite relaxing day today. OH at work tonight so Ive been busy cleaning and doing some cooking.

Yesterday was was a pretty standard day with salad for lunch and steak and veg for dinner. Did a bit more boxing on the Wii... Really is a sight to behold. I shut the curtains in case any of my pupils are passing.... They always like a good look in!

Started today with some weights and boxing with OH. Then menu as follows:

B- eggs, bacon LC sausages, half a tomato and a mushroom
S - half a min and a cup of coffee
D - I've had a whole chicken in the slow cooker all day with some leek, fennel and celeriac. Had a chicken breast for dinner with fennel and courgette and have blitzed the slow cooked veg and stock from bird for soup.

planning to warm it up with some cream for lunch tomorrow. There is quite a lot actually so it will do a few lunches I think.

i was delighted this morning when my tshirt seemed to be hanging off me but something I've eaten today or yesterday has stopped ketosis again! Had no cheeky extras... Only foods from the list in my book but maybe too much cream in the sauce I made? I'm blaming the tomato.

Hope me everyone is enjoying the weeknd

Shattered this evening! Been working all day :-( we also walked to supermarket for the weeks shop. Going to try and eat a little simpler this week.

Today we had:
b - bacon and scrambled egg
l - the chicken soup I made yesterday
d - roast pork, cauli cheese and spinach

thats all for now!

P x

Food sounds great. I do find that the simpler I eat at the beginning the easier it is to stick to. I only get adventurous from time to time lol. :)

Oh what a frustrating day! I love my job but sometimes it drives me to distraction!

Not it had much time for food today. Now tired and grumpy and still working in my pajamas!

Breakfast was a cheese stick and dinner was cod with green veg and homemade tartre sauce.

Hoping tomorrow row runs a little more smoothly!

See if u can prepare some 'grab' snacks in advance. Boiled eggs or some cold meats and cheese to keep u going. I find them to be a god send...hunger does no good for me :) x

Well done tho for staying on track despite not having the time :) x

Thank you :) I've not been off plan once yet but I'm normally ready on Monday morning with cheese, salami, eggs etc. this one took me by surprise!

Yesterday a better day work wise. Had cheese for breakfast, roast beef for lunch and lamb chops with veg for dinner. 2 mini salamis as a snack.

weigh in this morning... Down 2.5 lb today. Pleased with this. Only 1/2lb from a stone tho... Frustratingly close!

Right I am clearly procrastinating... Work awaits.

have a good day

Good morning hope everyone is well today.

Yesterday was was fine diet wise but a long day of paperwork. I would have liked to be on my feet a bit more.

breakfast was cheese, roast beef salad for lunch and dinner was chicken salad.

Another long day day ahead but hopefully a more active one. Have made myself a coffee and have eggs boiling as I type. Supposed to be seeing work friends for dinner, blizzard withstanding, so I'm nervous about making choices. Indian should be fine tho right? Grilled meat and a veg side? They are super skinny so never order starters or desert anyway! I can't control what is in marinades etc but I also can't stay in the house forever!

Keep warm

Indian is fantastic Pixi - easiest meal out while on Atkins I find. Enjoy! KWIM about being close to a stone - I HAVE to lose a pound this week to hit it too!

Don't bother with the ketostix, they're notoriously unreliable - they've always messed with my head. You know what you're eating, you clearly know how to count carbs, so trust the diet!

Your menus look fantastic - stealing ideas already! :)
