Diet ninja - 100 days and counting...

Dietninja

Mostly plant based
I have 100 days to shift some flab. I'm going on an adventure holiday in the south of France with 40 teenagers, and don't want to be worrying about my bod in wet suits etc. (although obviously I will, but I'd like to feel better than I do!)

Its a good amount of time and my aim is to lose 2 stone by then (2lbs a week)...obviously more would be fantastic! I have a total weight loss goal of 3 st 2 lbs, and i reckon if i stick to this, i can get to within a stone of that goal.

Im aiming to calorie count my way through, with 2 daily targets

- stay below 1600 cals * (exercise cals already included)
- do half an hours exercise a day

(* there may be the odd day when I save up cals for a night out etc.)

Ive bought myself a little treat...a tassimo coffee maker as I LOVE coffee so now i can have a little treat at less (and cost) than the lattes I buy from costa. It has meant, of course, that I have spent lots of calories today trying the different coffees! If I do well in my first week, my treat is I get to buy and try the costa caramel lattes. Yum!

Im not planning on fasting (although if I need a boost later, that may come in to play), but I am aiming to eat when hungry, so if that means skipping a meal, or eating at odd times, I'm not going to stress.

So here's today:

B - skipped
l - tassimo cappuccino, wholemeal toast with avocado and smoked salmon
s - tassimo latte
t - Thai green curry (ready to cook meal from waitrose - everything fresh, chopped, just bung it in to a wok)
Total 0% yoghurt with strawberry, banana

Cals: 1110 (low today, but still full from my "going on a diet, must eat all junk food in the house" episode yesterday)

Exercise: 2 mile jog on treadmill, p90x3 DVD total synergystics, approx 370 cals

Oh, yesterday was a write off. I ended up in Pizza Hut with the kids when I was over-hungry :( I had chicken wings, an individual pepperoni pizza, some salad from the salad bar and half of DDs choc fudge cake... :( :( :(

still, i have confessed my sins and now is a new day. as penance (and because it needs doing) I am going to mow the lawn, and tidy the house. And a cardio workout this evening.

I'm also going to keep a running total of my mileage and aim to do 200 miles in the next 100 days...

so here's me wiping the slate clean [scrub scrub]

Day 1/100

Miles 2 / 200

B - coffee with milk
L - 1 slice wholemeal toast topped with 1/4 avocado and a slice of smoked salmon
s - 2 cappucinos!
t - left over Thai green curry with rice
total 0% yoghurt with blueberry, chai latte
s - Tomato cuppa soup, piece of wholemeal toast, mini cheddar

Cals 1280

exercise: 2.5 hours gardening, 30 min walk in the woods, 2 mile run on treadmill - 5 min warm up then pyramid intervals (3 min @ 11 min/mile, 2 min @ 10 min/mile, 1 min @ 9 min/mile) x 3

Exercise cals burned - approx 900

My next target is to cut down the cals from milky coffee....but we were out with friends and at least I avoided the cake!

Hello, you have done so well in your weight loss, tamaraabi...any tips?

I stuck to the dukan diet religiously and as much as I loved it at the time I was so strict and found it hard when I went back to normal eating, I think calorie counting is the way to go because you can have a but of what you fancy with limits and that's the way to do it in the long term :) xx

Thank you - that's great advice. I tried dukan, and really struggled...although it seems to work well for lots of people :)

I finally bought myself some jeans. I've been limited to one denim skirt for about a month now (ok, let's be honest, about 2 months) as that is all that would fit since I put on weight, and refused to buy any new clothes,. So I bought 2 pairs of jeans - a large 16 and a small 16. The large 16 fit comfortably now, the small 16 are a bit too tight, but will be a good stepping stone into the 14s. And I can't tell you how nice it is to have some clothes that fit properly. Has given me a real boost :)

Glad to see you have started your Diary :) I have found it does help.

Day 2

I was thinking of fasting today but it worried me as I knew I was going for a longer run with a friend. So in the end I had a snack before I went (and ended up eating more than I intended, calorie wise, but also running further). I think my I might try fasting next week, as I didn't find it too hard today and only ate at 4pm

B - black coffee
L - skinny latte
S - 20g walnuts, 1 slice wholemeal toast with tsp jam and almond butter, 1/3 banana
S - apple, coffee with milk
D - spaghetti bolognese with lots of veg,
S - chai latte

Cals 1275

Exercise: 5.2 miles run, av pace 11.2 min/mile (shocking to think I did the same . Run in 9 min miles a year ago, but was 2 stone lighter and much fitter!)
About 600 cals burned.

Day 3 & 4

I have been away visiting family, so unable to count calories. But I'm very pleased to say I've made sensible choices and carefully watched portion sizes - I really want this to be a lifestyle change as well as a diet.

Day 3 (saturday)

Am exercise - p90x 3 the warrior (34 min DVD intervals)
B - 2 eggs, 2 slices wholemeal toast, tin plum tomatoes
L - Starbucks tall soya latte, banana, apple
S - 50g almonds
T - chicken in breadcrumbs, half a jacket potato, broccoli, v small slice strawberry cake with 1 tsp creme fraiche, 330 ml lager, 1/2 glass red wine

Things I avoided: McDonald's at the service station, which the kids had, unhealthy snacks before tea (which was 2 hrs later than I'm used to so I was hungry!) And I significantly cut my portion size at dinner :) :) :)

Day 4

AM exercise 40 min jog, 3.5 miles
During the day: 3.5 miles walking

B - 2 fried eggs, 2 rashers bacon (no toast)
L - tuna, salad with vinegrette and avocado, one slice bread, 2 tbsp butter beans
S - small soya latte, Apple
T - roast beef (3 slices), brocolli, gravy, small slice apple pie, 1 tbsp creme fraiche, glass red Wine

Am very pleased to have avoided bread at breakfast, butter and the cheese platter at lunch, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pud, and large portions of pud at tea time. If only you lost weight in direct relationship to food you've avoided...surely that deserves at least an lb off!

But I am glad to be making sensible choices. Tomorrow is the drive home and that's always a trigger zone for me...tired, driving long distance, service stations full of sugary goodness...

My legs ache from the dvd. May have a day off exercise tomorrow.

Oh, quick mileage Update 10.5 / 200
