Monday 5th January 2014 - New Year New Me

Ok.. here I go again. Have been a member for quite a while, always start my journey, always come off my journey. Always eat as much as I can the night before my journey commences. Sound familiar?

Anyway, being a school teacher we start back tomorrow so that was a realistic start for me. My goal is that I'm going to New York in the Easter holidays. I have never been out of Europe and I do not want to be sat in my plane seat, struggling to fit in and being judged, sat in Theatres, or at Bars cramped in seats with not much leg room not feeling good about myself or indeed looking back on holiday photographs where I should be happy but I'm not.
It used to be that I wanted to look good for other people but I realised that during the latter half on 2014, I was actually unhappy. I've always linked unhappiness to my weight but it just seemed to be even more so during the last couple of months. It's because I'm fed up of just throwing any old clothes on because non of my other ones fit at the moment. In general, just fed up.

If anyone else is starting tomorrow, or wishes to hi-jack this thread, please come and join me, or support or whatever. The treadmill has had all the stuff taken off it, software updated. The chocolates and beers are out of harms way.

I'll be updating the weight and goals when I go on the scales tomorrow morning. Daren't go on them now although it's interesting to see my start weight last year round. Wonder if it'll be the same this time.

Thanks for reading,
Ben

Good luck! I'm restarting again tomorrow too - lots of challenges - my focus is to get healthy and fit whilst minding the calories - so sort of back to front from my usual plan!

Thanks for the reply Lovehatecarbs and let's see how we do. I'll be weighing in in the morning but might not get chance to log in so will probably do that in the evening back from work.

DAY ONE
Ok so I went on the scales today and I was 14st 4.5 which is starting 5 pounds less than this time last year. I've been on the treadmill and walked a mile. Not much I know but 155 calories burnt. I'm a teacher of little ones so I am quite energetic at work which will help. I've also had my water intake today. Just got to decide when to have dinner. I'm trying to put it off so I've less time to be hungry later. Does that make sense?

DAY THREE

Hello. How you doing?
I have just realised that this has turned into a diary yet it's meant to be for weekly weighins so sorry about that. Just wanted to let you know that I'm doing fine. Drinking my water each day and I've been on the treadmill for the past two days, burning 200 calories. I'm eating chicken after exercising for the protein. I was good yesterday as before I used to have my yoghurt straight after dinner, this time I waited an hour before eating it!

Good luck :) It's good that you're starting your diet 5lbs lighter than last year. I hope you get to your goal for your New York trip!

I started well but had a funeral so needed to give myself a break - weight stayed the same this week but that's ok - back on track today

sounds like you've made a positive start, how have you been doing over the weekend? I personally find that's a more challenging time compared to the weekdays where we're in some sort of routine etc.

Taking regular exercise is also fabulous so you have been doing really well on the treadmill. Have you thought about carrying a pedometer on you all the time since you're a school teacher you must walk a lot? I have a pedometer and it even tells me calories burned so thats a good motivator! I also have a heart rate monitor for the gym which again shows calories I have burnt and tells me when I'm in the fat burning zone. Pedometers are quite cheap though so a good little thing to have! Good luck for this week, stay positive.... :)

Hello all you lovely people and especially Rachella, Bella-Slimmer and Lovehatecarbs who replied to me. I always think the calorie counting boards are going to be busier but they never are are they?!

I did try a pedometer out at work this week Rachella, I seem to do about 5,000 steps per day at work (it doesn't seem that many but I certainly put the effort in!!)

Yes the weekend, well fortunately my partner has decided to lose some weight as well so we are doing it together. I have hidden all the chocolate and beer in places I cannot see (Out of sight, out of mind I say!).
I have been on my treadmill twice this week and then it started to malfunction but fear not, I did a 45 minute Rosemary Conley workout after school on Thursday so feel quite good about that.

Thanks Bella-Slimmer for your post about starting lighter, yes great news. I did receive an invitation to a party though in February so that might be a little goal for me. I do realise that I cannot put life off but that's three weeks today so hope I can lose some more weight for that. Long way to go.. sigh.

Lovehatecarb - sorry for your loss. :(

Keep it up ladies, do it for yourself, if no one else!

Good look with your weightloss im thinking of switching to calorie counting from sw x

Give it a go pezzhealth and keep me company on here!

On a work day I can do less than 3000 steps so I'm really trying to go for a walk at work and get those steps up. Managed a reasonable food week but some adjustments needed but went to the gym twice so all in all not bad - weigh in tomorrow - eek

Weigh in tomorrow for me too. Yikes!

6 off! Very happy!

Day 15
Well I've stuck to my diet and made sure that I'm hitting my water intake and doing regular exercise. As I'm no cook, I could really do with some inspiration to cook different things during the week. Partner is also trying to lose weight so I can cook it for 2. But like I said, I'm no cook!
Currently I might have a piece of salmon or chicken with either a Jacket or basmati rice, with a WW yoghurt or Jelly for dessert.
Not the most exciting I know!
Keep up the good work and thanks for reading!

Chin up lovehatecarbs and here's to a good, healthy weekend before the Monday weigh in!
