Weighing food and calories

Hi all, im a bit new to this cc business. When you weigh food, do you count the calories of the cooked or uncooked weight, such as pasta or frozen chips. Im guessing the calories would be slightly different as they are heavier uncooked

Pasta and rice are heavier when they are cooked as they absorb the liquid they are cooked in. Use the dried weight which is on the packet.

I made a list of the portion size of all the veg - fruit - pasta - rice etc that I eat and keep it by the scales then I can refer to it straight away.

Good Luck with your Calorie Counting.

So would that rule apply to frozen chips too?

Yes - look at the calories for 100gms - decide how many you want then work the calories out from that --
Just had a look on Asda website and saw that some of the frozen chips have lots more calories than other - I would suggest you have a look at the cals per 100gms and try and pick the ones which are the lowest.

Thank you :)

Your welcome - if there is anything else you want to know just ask - go to my diary and post it on there.
