Day 10 of Cambridge and looking for buddies!

Afternoon all!

I've never posted on any forum before but I have been reading some of the forums on this site and was encouraged to sign up and start my own thread.

I started the Cambridge Diet Monday 13th October 2014 on sole source so I am on day 10 today.

I've been fine and not cheated once but feeling really light headed today.

I weighed in at 12st 5lbs and got weighed Sunday morning and was 11st 9lbs so 10lb off in my first week! My target is 9st 7lbs, ideally by Christmas but we'll see! Bad time of year to start really with all the Christmas dos coming up but I was just so fed up of being fat that I just had to start.

I've got 2 children. I lost loads of weight after my 1st, got down to 9st 10lbs and a size 10 - doing Slimming World. I then binned all my 'fat' clothes and spent a fortune on new clothes and underwear. I'm now 1 year on from my 2nd child and size 14 (possibly 16 but if a 14 doesn't fit I don't buy it). I have a wardrobe full of gorgeous size 10 clothes and I wont buy clothes in my size now except a basic basic wardrobe and have to wash my clothes daily so I always have something to wear! Tried Slimming World again but it just doesn't seem to be working this time round so I thought an initial boost followed by a low calorie healthy diet would be a better option for me.

First time I've ever talked about this! No-one except my husband and immediate family know about this as I don't want to be judged.

Anyway, I just thought if anyone was in a similar position to me we could support each other on the way!

Hope to hear from someone soon!

Hi, I'm the same weight as you 11.8.6 and 5ft 1in as of last Sunday, this is my second week. I get weighed again on Sunday, don't feel like I have lost anything! I'm reading this on my phone, what height are you? I'm doing ss+ so having milk, I just couldn't give up milk and the occasional latte from costa.

Hi guys thanks for replying and for welcome! I'm 5ft3 so just gone from obese (only just) to overweight shouldn't really be celebrating but yay!!! Red6 - I don't feel like I've lost weight this week either, in fact my scales say so. :( I'm doing ss, changed my tea addiction to black coffee with sweetener and I'm growing rather fond of it! I'm finding 2nd week much more difficult than the 1st, not so much hunger but socially I'm missing out on stuff. How are you finding it?
Xx

Hi, I'm not feeling hungry at all but really struggling today. Think it's because people are going for drinks after work and the thought of sitting there again with my water is a bit depressing. To be honest I'd rather just not go. Sorry for sounding so miserable, I've been on such a high all week then today I feel different cause I don't feel like I've lost weight. I think I'll weigh myself tomorrow, I normally weigh on Sunday. If I've lost something it might give me a boost to keep strong.

How long are you planning on doing ss for?

That's me exactly! Feeling like I should be healthy eating instead...though the lack of calories may well be having an effect on my mood - the husband is too polite (or scared!!) To tell me. I was defo on a high the first week and I can't quite understand why I'm like this this week.

I'm thinking of doing ss until Christmas, how about you? Not sure if it's recommended I'll speak to my consultant. That being said there's no way I'm not having Christmas lunch with all the trimmings!!!

Hope you get over the low quickly...I reckon for me I'll be on a high again the first time someone asks me if I've lost weight! Having a Halloween party next week so there will be loads of people I haven't seen for a little while there so I hope so!

I don't feel like I've lost any inches yet despite my big 1st week loss do you?

I thought I would crack and eat something but I'm still going and I didn't give in and weigh myself so weighing in tomorrow, so fingers crossed. Just from reading the form people seem to have one small lose then a big one so I suppose if it is a small lose tomorrow then it's dealing with it and moving on.

I do feel so much healthier at the mo but I miss running, but my running will improve so much when I'm carting around less weight!

I do agree with you, if someone commented on my weight loss that would be such a high.

I've spoken to my consultant, who is excellent and I'm planning on sticking to it till the beginning of December then I want to maintain my weight over December then in January lose the last stone and a half. I just have so much planned so if I just focus on not putting weight on ,so I will do ss+ In the week and have the weekend off but not go mad. It sounds good in theory and I'm sure it can be done.

When is your next way in?

Another shorty here! I'm 5foot2.
I hve done Cambridge before but this time am doing exante, still a VLCD.

Like red I really miss running (I can't due to an accident). But a lower weight helps massively with it.

I started at 12 stone. Heaviest I have ever been. It was only in April this year that I ran the London marathon! The weight piled on so quickly.

My goal weight is 9 stone.

I am going to VLCD until about 9stone9/ 9stone7. Then hopefully can exercise and keep the cals low enough to lose the last half a stone. I am currently 10stone6, still feel so so fat. I've nearly completed my 5th week, so probably another 5 to go!

Anyway will be watching your journey. Nice to see similar goals/ start weights x

That's almost exactly my story. I was training for a triathlon then had a car crash which wiped me out for months. The tri was meant to be 4 days after the crash. Then I put on weight really quickly. I was 5'2" and a touch over 12 stone. I did Cambridge at the beginning of this year but come back on here regularly to help me maintain and when I've been on holiday or whatever the encouragement here helps me knock the gained lbs. I'm now at goal (9st) and maintaining. Xxx

Oh wow it really is similar- my accident was being hit by a car. Good you stick around and rather than just congratulate your amazing loss, MASSIVE congrats for maintaining. Are you back to exercising now? How long did it take to get the weight off? That was very inspiring to read so thanks for sharing :) xx

Yes I'm back to exercising. I've my first race lined up in December. I'm really excited. It took me 4 months on step 2 with a couple of weddings and holidays in there. So not as quickly as some lose but quickly enough that I now feel amazing and still enjoyed those few social events I had. It's when people haven't seen you in a while and just don't recognise you. There are some that only met me after the accident so only knew me at my biggest. They're amazed. It's not easy maintaining. There are the odd fluctuations but that's all they are. I'm trying to knock an extra couple of lbs before going on holiday in a couple of weeks time so that I can look fab and feel confident on the beach and without my clothes getting tight whilst I'm out there. So I'm pre-emptively losing some of the holiday gain! I've been maintaining since June/July. So I'm getting into the swing of it!

Stick with it and you'll be fab in time for xmas!

Xxx

It's so great to hear people maintaining, it can be done especially with exercise. I'm hoping when I start running again I'll be able to improve my time as I'm a bit slow at the moment!

I lost 1 pound this morning. Normally that would make me wanna binge but I really feel determined this time. I've done Cambridge a few times before but never felt this determined. So I'm hoping for a good lose next week.

I'm not saying I'm fast but I'm faster now I'm lighter. Sometimes it feels so easy now when before it was sooo hard! I love exercise. It makes me feel good, I don't feel hungry and makes maintenance so much easier.

It can definitely be done. You sound determined Red, you can do it!

Thanks for your words. I also have social events so will be doing something similar! Sounds smart re. Preemptive losing of the holiday gain. :) x

I think I will have a STS this week so totally know how you feel. But it is certain we will get there. We can't be certain of when though!

I read that for every ten pounds you lose, you could shave 20 seconds per mile off your rubbings times, obviously depending on bodily composition factors as well. But it's encouraging!

Thanks for that, that makes sense that you'd would be faster without the weight.

Good luck for weigh in, let us know how you get on. I text my councillor about my rubbish weight loss and she said it could be cause I'm due on.

Yeah if due on that could easily be the cause. I'm not so can't use that excuse!! But official weigh in is Tuesday morning. This is end of week 5 weigh in so I suppose a plateau is possible.

Hello can I join? I am 5'10 and started CD on Thursday so today is my 4th day. Hopefully I'm now over the worst! Thursday and Friday I did SS but yesterday and today I just needed something to chew so had chicken and broccoli so stepped up to the SS+. I weighed 16st 1lb on Wednesdsy night and now weigh 15'10 so it's working already. I just got the shakes to start with which are lovely when blended with ice. Starting to feel like I needed something savoury so tempted to try the soups next week, how do others find the soups? It's great to hear about people maintaining as that is my biggest fear - that it will all just go back on.

Good luck with your first week. I had a soup this week and I put some curry spice in it, it was nice but to be honest I'm not a soup fan anyway. I always have a chocolate tetra for breakfast and lunch then a bar for dinner. I get two bars and cut them in half and have half of each, try it, it's nice.

I'm doing ss+ but I have milk instead of food but today I had chicken for dinner, it's nice to have some real food but I think I'll go back to the bars tomorrow.

I quite like the oriental soup. But it's all personal taste so give them a try and see how you go!

Good luck for weigh ins ladies!
