Starting in 2014!

Hello *waves*

I did LL in 2010/11 and lost almost six stone (go me!) then kept most of it off for the best part of a year and a half with low carbing. It started to creep back on again last Christmas and I'm now really big again. Well, not quite as big as at the beginning, but bigger than I want to be :(. I've tried doing slim and save off and on all year but my heart hasn't been in it. So, I thought I'd have a change and a refocus after Christmas and try Cambridge. I know vlcds work well for me (when I stick to them!) so I'm hoping having the weekly weigh in will keep me on track better than going it alone on sns.

So this will be a week or so of relaxation and (gasp) carbs (!) and then I'm on it 100%. Got my first consultation booked, on January 6th, so I'm all set. Any tips from experienced people?! What can I expect? How is CWP different from other vlcds?

Hope to get to know some more lovely minimin-ers in the new year!

Hi Spanglymum! Well done for deciding to do it whole-heartedly now! I've been doing Cambridge for just over 7 weeks now and I've dropped 2.4 and hoping to drop 2.13 more

My start weight was 15.10 and I'm now 13.6. I've always had trouble keeping the weight off not dropping it!

Main tips!
2-3 days before you start the weight plan start reducing your carb intake. I found that I didn't get any headaches or any side effects.

Drinks LOADS of water! I drink 4 litres a day and do not compromise on this! It takes away headaches, hunger and aids ketosis.

Take a fibre supplement- I only use psyllium husk from Holland and Barrett.

REMEMBER THAT ITS NOT FOREVER AND THAT YOU CAN DO IT!

GOOD LUCK! Xx

You've done brilliantly, scouzer! Is that really almost two stone in four weeks??!! I hope I can do as well in 2014. Would be fab to get to Easter almost back to my normal size! How are you tackling Christmas and New Year?

Hiya Spanglymum, I also did LL a few years ago, the differences aren't pronounced the only thing that I noticed straight away is that as I'm only 5"4 I only get three shakes a day, this took a couple of days to get my head around lol.
Also I like the fact that I get one to one time with my cdc rather than the groups that you have to attend with LL.
However I'm sure you will do amazingly, good luck and make sure to keep us all updated.

Hi All my fiancé and I are starting on 2nd jan after loosing the "will" with slimming world! Am feeling rather nervous but am sure we will be fine! from what I hear the first 2 days are the worse! Good luck all :)

Hi,

I'm starting 2nd Jan too! I did Cambridge last year and lost 2.5 stones. Put a bit back on since. I want to get to 10 stone before April. I'm currently just over 13 stones. Not sure what damage I've done over Christmas. Not weighing myself until 2nd. Good luck all and keep posting as it's really inspiring.

Hurray! Lots of replies! So nice to see!

I'll be a bit behind you all as I'm not starting til after my first day back at work, on the 6th. You'll all be in ketosis by then probably! Quite excited to start and find myself again underneath my Monica fat suit. I'm sure I'm still in there somewhere. If only the carbs weren't so damned alluring!! Good luck, everyone!

This festive season has been really tough but I'm hanging in there and just imagining slipping into my size 12s sometime soon in the new year! Good luck to everyone over New Year! I'm taking it one day at a time!

Good luck on your weight loss journey...I am so glad there are several people starting around the same time. I have restarted today and just building up my water intake....I am looking at photos of celebs in their bikinis in Barbados and that is so what i want to be in this summer!! Cant remember when i last wore a bikini but am so determined this time....

Actually, I'm now starting on Thursday. I'm not procrastinating, honest! I just forgot I have a dept Christmas lunch on Wednesday and as we have very few social occasions and I am head of dept I think it would be nicer to share in the meal with everyone and start Cambridge on Thursday. I'm still seeing my consultant for the first time this evening though. Wish me luck!

Just been looking at our office Christmas party pics. I couldn't go this year and have to say I'm glad I didn't as the photos are terrible - of everyone, even the mega-pretty people - so I think I had a lucky escape given how huge I am at the moment. Been thinking it will be good to go to the party at the end of this year feeling confident about my appearance again.

How's everyone getting on?

I think that's sensible, good luck for Thursday and enjoy your meal Wednesday :)

Thanks, joh!

I faced the music and met my consultant for the first time last night. She's lovely :) My weight, on the other hand, is most definitely NOT. Ugh!!! Oh well, that's the worst bit, isn't it? Facing up to reality? Onward and downward once I start on Thurs. I will be weighing on Wednesdays from next week onwards. Must sort out a ticker for this latest journey...

Woken up veeeeeery early (4am) so this (Day 1) is going to be a long day!!

The meal yesterday was lovely, and I even told a couple of colleagues about starting the plan today and they were very supportive.

I'm feeling a mixture of emotions: excited, apprehensive, but also a bit relieved. I can step off the carb roller coaster and give myself a breather and time to take stock again. Phew. The past year has been a maelstrom of yoyo dieting for me, never really sticking to a plan and gradually regaining weight. Enough!!

Also some mild anxieties: what will the packs be like? How will they compare to LL or slim and save? How will I manage, having three packs rather than the four I had on those plans?

Well... Time will tell. And one thing I have learned through all of this past few years is that time passes at the same rate whether you are gaining, maintaining or losing. I can only influence today, or in fact this moment right now.

I can do this, for this moment at least!

Had my first shake for breakfast and it was fine (banana). Taking a chicken and mushroom soup to work for lunch. I can totally do this.

Ooh, the chicken and mushroom soup was actually quite nice! Hurray! This is working out better than I'd hoped so far (early days, I know).

I feel very positive. It's good to be taking control again. My body feels alien to me at the moment and it's good to know I will feel more like me again in a couple of months' time. Phew.

Stressing slightly that between seeing my consultant on Monday and starting today I may have actually GAINED some more weight (yup, carb-central), which means my first week's loss might not be great - but we'll see. It will all even out in the end.

Day two dawns. Deliberately started so that days three and four would be at the weekend and then I might be in ketosis by Monday, or at least v close...

I hope I find today's packs as pleasant as yesterday's. I got a big variety so I can try all the flavours. Really really want to do this. Amazing to think that if I stick to it I will have lost around three stone by Easter, maybe more?

I really hope I can do it (and you, too!). Second day done for me. Yay!!
