I'm currently 24 and 24st 10lb!
I struggle with my weight every day and have for about 14 yrs! I started my first diet aged 10. It is scary to think but not as scared as I feel right now, I can tell the weight is affecting every area of my life, my love life, social life, work life and health!

I do feel determined but know I will struggle :( and advice would be greatly recived!

Thanks

Hello Kelly :) xx

Choose a diet-plan that feels right for you, throw in some exercise (start with short walks or swimming if you're very unfit) and post on here everyday. Especially when you're having moments when you feel like giving up. Posting on here can keep you focused and give you support. Losing weight is rarely a quick journey, so relax and take it one day at a time until you get to goal. Small consistent changes will take you to where you want to be.

Being overweight does affect all aspects of your life, whether it be health, self-confidence, socially, financially, work.... the full lot. I know, it does me too. But I am determined not to give in to the unhappiness of living in the Kingdom of Fatdom. I will keep at it... as long as it takes... to get where I want to be.

Good luck to you. xx

Firstly.. Well done! The first step in changing the way you are is the hardest.

Secondly, the thing I can advise which works for me is set some mini goals. Once you meet those goals...you can reward yourself. Only, don't celebrate in the way of oooh, I lost a stone, I will treat myself to a Chinese. It's just not worth it.

If you're happy when you see a loss - great, keep going! If you're sad when you see a gain - remember, KEEP going! The weight isn't going to come off by going back to your bad habits.

I have tried and failed at so many different 'diets' and ended up basically 17st. In all my efforts to lose weight I probably ended up heavier than what I would have done if I didn't bother all those years. lol.

Anyway, I'm here now and am doing it! So are you hun...you have already started your journey. Just keep reminding yourself why you started in the first place. You can do this. :) I'm always here so if u ever need a kick up the bum, just shout :) xx

Thank you for the replies, just knowing your not alone helps.

So day one and lunch time I'm going ok. I do not feel hungry but it's more of a habit of eating at my desk.

Thanks

Ok, so that's my first week out the way! Even though my doctor advised me not to weigh myself until I go for my check up in a months time I couldn't help it just to check I was on the right lines! I've lost at least 10lb this week! I know the first week is always a high loss and it is not stainable for every but I'm really pleased it is a step on the right direction.

I've been taking orlistat and using my fitness pal app, I think what has made it easier is because I know how many calories to eat for my size and activity level. I do not feel like I have deprived myself of good as I've been having 3 good meals plus a snack or two all within my fat and calorie allowances.

I'm really feeling motivated about this now.

I am 23 and can understand how you're feeling. MyFitnessPal is a great tool to track your progress, too. Good luck! :D

Wow wee! Good for you girl! You are definitely on the right track. Keep going, youre doing great!! X

Thank you, I feel great too which is surprising for a diet, as normally all I can think about is food! X

A little bit of a downer today, my eating is still going great.

Here's the but I am in between sizes and brought a top in the smaller of the two sizes a couple of weeks ago knowing it would be a little tight but thought that's ok because I'm going to lose weight. Tried it on this morning and it's just as tight, I am unsure what I expected because I know it's not a miracle just expected it to be looser that's all. Oh well just hoping It fits better next week as I brought it for my best friends hen party which is a week on Friday.

I'm also looking for dresses for the wedding I hate being so restricted with clothes shopping, not only that but they are so much more expensive for larger sizes!

I will keep thinking .. I don't want to be 25 and 25 stone!

X

Thanks for sharing the journey k333oly. At times difficulties will be experienced where we don't see results, we feel that what we have started is not working or that we don't feel enthusiastic today. These times happen and that where we focus on the positive self image as the reason for the effort we are putting in.

As a constant motivation keep focusing on the new you, the person you will become and hold this positive self image all day everyday. It will take a lot of effort but by focusing on what you want, and not what you don't want, you will be able to quickly flick on the positive switch and get back on track.

Enjoy the journey

Hi k3,

Good luck!

Make sure to keep a food diary on here even when you've had a bad day (I record my binges because it keeps me from bingeing even more!). I find weighing myself daily also helps because I can't ignore what I weigh and I can quickly remedy any gains.

Just try to be positive. I am 23 and was 19st in summer last year. Although I'm only 2st lighter now, it has changed my life. I've met the love of my life, have found my dream job and becoming financially stable. Work hard for your goals and you'll achieve them. That's a fact x
