Vanessa Dukan Diary 2 Jan 2012

Zebs07

Dance the positive spin..
Hey there folks
Im a Dukan newbie and looking to lose a stone (tho dreaming of a stone and a half to get to my ever elusive ideal)
Ive never done any type of high protein regime before so its all a bit out of mt comfort zone and feeling alien to me at the moment!

Also as am sure is normal for a newbie, i am panicking about portions etc despite rationally knowing what Dukan says about categories not calories.

Anyway im rambling - i shsll post my menu below and would be more than grateful for any feedback - be it good for reassurance or bad for help all appreciated...

Thankee most muchly...

Day 1 attack

B: 2 boiled eggs
L: Galette with smoked salmon and chicken; jelly (Hartleys no added sugar jelly pot - is that ok)
S: yogurt (onken vanilla fat free - is that ok)
D: 3 slice roast beef, few bits chicken, bit smoked salmon, jelly
Tin diet coke

I admit to confuddled'ness about yogurt etc - i bought muller light toffee after seeing countless postssaying it was ok (and fab frozen). Then saw a post saying it is permitted so not ok for attack! Help!!! This paranoia has now bled across to jelly - us the above ok - it says less than 10cals per pot and nil fat but there sre 1.8g sugar...????

Hi Vanessa, & welcome! I'm on my phone too (so apologies for any spelling mistakes!) but unfortunately that means I can't see your stats... You can lose a stone very quickly on this diet though, so anything can be achievable! Have you plugged your stats in to the Dukan site to work out your true weight, etc? Also, the fact that you've not tried any high protein/low carb diets before will probably help you in terms of weight loss - restarting can make "low carbing" less effective...

In terms of your questions, most people on here use Total 0% fat free yoghurt (which is lovely with a little bit of sweetener). Jelly-wise, it's better to make your own using the powder - the ones in the pots do contain more carbs than the Hartley's sachets, for some reason.

Good luck! :)

Hi lorlypop

Thank u so much for replying! Im having a total panic (lol you may have seen my other post on main Dukan forum!!) here with all the conflicting stuff im reading lol - re the Onken fat free vanilla yogurt; ive prqcticallky had 450g over yesterday/today and now i found ur reply and other post about baaaad fructose on yogurts - and guess what, fructose syrup is the second listed ingredient after water; which affects ketosis etc etc! Bah .... Lol. Its a minefield eh! Shall def send hubby out to try get Total tomorrow ... and jelly sachets lol. Dont get me started on this thread abour my chicken paranoia... :( lol

I know im being really really cheeky but If you wouldnt mind, cud u please check out my other post on main forum and chk my other stuff so i can restock whatever else ive got wrong at the same time lol.

Re my stats - i havent updated them yet anyway lol. I started on 12.5 stone and aiming to get back to 11.5 (or ideally 11 - which is my dream and coincidentally Dukans advised true weight). Im 41, female and 5ft 8. I have very limited mobility and weight crept up accordingly! I lost nearly 5 stone on Lipotrim a couple year ago and have mostly maintained within half a stone window simce! However i had hysterectomy in Sept and that with christmas, birthdays etc in Dec have upped to a stone heavier than my low-end normal! Phew .... that was a bit of a novel there eh! Lol. Will stop blathering the now while u stop ur eyes bleeding lol

Thanks kn advance...

All looking good Vanessa.

If I can reassure you somewhat - there is a lot of conflicting advice out there, much even contradicts his book (which he himself contradicts at each interview/chat session on his official site). We try to keep abreast of "new" things here, and will soon help if we notice something in your menus.

Meanwhile, if you're losing well having certain things no longer recommended, I'd not worry unduly but switch to the total 0% once you've used up the other yoghurts.

Good luck!

(go on - tell us about your chicken paranoia - we eat a LOT of chicken around here, and some even have their own chickens given the number of eggs we consume!)

Thank u so much - i admit ive kinda relaxed a bit now (6lb loss after 3 days so stuff cant be that bad lol) but i was definitely suffering from newbie-got-to-get-it-100%-right-or-ill-feck-it-up-and-have-to-struggle-much-longer paranoia pmsl ;-).

Ive got the Total 0% now and stocked up on jelly sachets instead of pots (id forgot how much i ADORE jelly - and yeah, i still suck it thru my teeth!!).

Re the chicken paranoia - nothing exciting (or morbid or phobic im afraid!).It was simply realising what was in the pre-cooked stuff - i do usually buy fresh skinless and steam it but im not been veey well over last few months and still not overly strong so hubby bought me in pre-cooked instead (to save hassle/cooking/cleaning up time) but even with it being non-coated, i had a Dukan and ketosis panic when i read the box (after id munched it all) lol ...

There was rice flour, stabilisers, tapioca starch, potato starch, salt, cornflour, sugar and vegetable oil in the ingredient list - so much for just being chicken!!! Altho it did say 95% chicken!

Anyway its all good now - no point panicking and i stocked up on a fresh whole chicken today lol. To save effort, i shall slow-cook it tomorrow then portion up n freeze rather than having to cook a fillet a day lol.

Goodness, i cant half ramble on eh! Ok - 1,2,3 going going gone...

Wow - small world eh! Whereabouts originally? I'm from Just in Fife - literally right between the Forth Bridges - although I'm now a few miles further along the coast.

For your chicken freezing plans, I'd be surprised if a chicken lasts you more than two (or three) days... so you mightn't need to freeze, but I do freeze portions of things I'm making particularly at weekends, which helps out during the week when at work.

Keep it up! (I too started out way back with chickens from the rotisseries without realising!)

Was brought up on the outskirts of kelty then lived in Cowdenbeath for a while and then moved to freuchie when I met my current partner.

Oooosha beastie - Today is Friday and i started Dukan on Monday so am on Day 5 of attack phase and going onto cruise tomorrow BUT BUT BUT I've lost 8lb already!!!! I know it'll slow right down but still, all the same!

Hunger - what's that? I feel like I'm constantly eating!

Anyway. I know realistically what I've lost was what i'd gained from piggi'ness behaviour from Xmas eve onwards and therefore still in the quick on/quick off zone and water etc BUT im still so chuffed. Most importantly it's broken the binge habits and given me a bit of a detox - and and and - its got me into the right 'stone' (just lol) and we know our addiction to them damn magic numbers lol. Half a stone to go till I'm back at the low-end of my normal maintenance window and hey, you never know, maybe ill manage that other half stone to my dream and 'true' weight too (don't wanna tempt fate there lol).

Excited'Ness is now offski for a bowl of jelly to celebrate...
