2nd day on attack C

Hi, this is the first time I have followed the Dukan diet. I am on day 2 of 6 days of attack. I have about 6/7 stone to lose so I know this is going to take a long time. I previously (about 5 years ago) lost 6 stone with Slimming World, but put it all back on once I stopped.

I am am struggling to eat enough meat as I am not usually a big meat eater, but I have not been hungry so far. I have had the oat-bran galettes for breakfast both days and have yogurt in the slow-cooker as I type. I cooked a whole chicken yesterday which should be a few meals and had some steak today. A little worried about the weekend when my husband and daughter will be around. How does everyone cope with feeding their family whilst doing the attack stage?

I give them the same meat - usually either chicken, turkey or beef and where they have carbs and veg in their plates I'll have a few prawns, an egg or a bit of smoked mackerel, a bit of fat free cottage cheese and a couple of silverskin onions. Best of luck :)

Same here. Roast dinners are easy as I just have the meat and if I'm hungry, some cottage cheese or an omelette. Usually I just have chicken while they have all the trimmings too. You get used to it after a while. My only danger zone is when I cook spaghetti bolognaise as I love spaghetti and its a real struggle to not have any. I make it into a pasta bake now and use penne pasta as I don't like that so I'm not tempted to eat it.

Hi and welcome to Dukan - it really is a fantastic diet - I had a lot to lose too - 7 stone and it took me a year to get to target - I'm on conso now and have been at target over a year and a half. My advice would be to have plenty of snack things in for if you feel hungry - plenty of chicken, steak, ff yoghurt, cottage cheese etc - I eat a lot of turkey mince - and when you get onto cruise you can put pasatta with it and make it into a bolognese or add some chilli powder too to make chilli - I found muffins a must too - I couldn't have survived without the muffins - they taste really naughty but are completely allowed - have you got your oatbran? Good luck I'm sure you'll love this diet and it soon becomes a way of life - any questions just ask - there's loads of experienced dukaneers on here that will be able to help :)

Welcome indeed. Great tips above. I'll just add one. If you find it hard to think of mixing meat and fish on your plate, why not have a starter and main in protein... even a pud too! There are some good recipes, or have some of your yogurt :)

Thank you all for your replies. I don't really eat fish or shellfish very much, but I don't mind fresh salmon, tinned tuna and smoked mackerel so I guess they'll be on my menu at some point. I keep chickens so have a good supply of eggs. I do think it will be easier once I can include some vegetables. I love cooking and making up dishes, so I am confident I will be able to keep things interesting. I've been using my oat bran for the galettes so far which strangely I quite like. My husband is away during the week and my daughter eats her main meal at school so in that respect it's not been too bad so far. It's the weekend I'm worried about. I have decided to make beef burgers using extra lean minced beef tomorrow for everyone. I assume extra lean beef is okay or would I be better using turkey mince?

Hi, I used to make beef burgers out of extra lean beef mince but always found they were a bit dry. Perhaps it may have been the way I cooked them but since switching to turkey mince, I find they are more moist and obviously lower in fat. Worth trying as they are just as tasty if seasoned imaginatively.
