Day 5 of Exante 100%TS.

6 stone + to lose in all but ideally would like to lose 4 stone by end November when I'm going on a cruise (hence the title).

Also like the idea of plain sailing, journey, holidays!! so that is what I will be visualising and hopefully that will keep me going. My life, certainly in the last 12 months, has been anything but - losing my mum, separating then reconciling with my husband, best friend dealing with breast cancer, change of job and location at work, selling 2 houses and buying another...Now is the time to start looking after me and my health (pre diabetic), addressing food issues and emotional eating.

As I say its day 5. Enjoying (much more than I thought I would) the shakes and soups. Felt I had reached ketosis last night, metallic taste in mouth, no hunger, feeling quite buzzy, but little sticks didn't show anything this morning.

Will miss first WI as off camping tomorrow for 4 nights but look forward to catching up on Sunday. Will stay 100% throughout.

I find the diary entries on here really inspiring & look forward to meeting some of you on here.

Welcome to the forum Jac. There is lots of support on here & keeping a diary will help you stay accountable to yourself too. Good luck x

I worried that with no formal weekly weigh in and someone keeping a close check on me I could fall off the wagon and never return. But its harder to do that when you are committed to making regular diary entries. And need all the help and support I can get.

Tried the curry pack tonight. Its not bland but certainly not like any curry I've had before! It made me drink loads of water as it tasted very salty. I think I'm a shake girl and maybe bars but I've yet to try them.

Will WI tomorrow before I disappear for 5 days camping at a local festival. Its going to be hot so water will be no problem, shakes will be good...just need to steer clear of burger vans.

Have a great weekend wherever you are

Jac x

Early WI as no access to scales for a few days. Was 18st 10 now 18st 2! Very happy with 2 days to go until first official WI!! 17s in my sight & may even be there by Sunday.

Going camping so will hopefully increase my physical activity.

Feeling good. Not hungry & enjoying the shakes.

See you all Sunday x

Brilliant well done :)

Back home after 5 day camping trip. Will WI tomorrow morning.

Have been sticking to plan 100%, easy to drink lots of water in this heat. Had to cook fellow campers meals but it was easier than I expected to not tuck in. First time today my cropped jeans felt that little bit looser.

Discovered geo-caching today and went for a walk with a friend and her daughter to find some treasure. Time flew by and we walked up some steep hills without realising it. I needed to find some enjoyable regular exercise and this seems to be an excellent family hobby.

At tomorrows WI I'm hoping to have left the 18s...fingers crossed

Wahoo! Weighed In and was under 18st this morning.

Hoping to lose another 3lb this week to lose first stone. Am going on holiday again on 16 August with my family and it would be wonderful to be in the 16s if a tad optimistic.

I've told a small group of people that I'm doing a VLCD/TFR diet and the majority are unfortunately quite negative about it. I've explained that I have to for my health. For others I'm running out of excuses. I didn't want to make a big deal out of it just in case I couldn't do it. I tried Cambridge several years ago but the composition of the shakes made me ill. But I have come to realise that a lot of my overeating was due to peer pressure rather than physical hunger. I need to practice saying No Thank You!

Well done on moving down into the 17s Jac. With more than over 2 weeks till holiday you could get into the 16s or at least into the lower 17s so go for it.

Telling people about this diet is difficult as some can be quite critical even when they don't understand the in's & out's of a VLCD.

I suppose the main thing is to remember why you are doing this in the first place. Mainly for you. As the weight drops off you will find it easier to ignore some of the negatively x

OK, so day 12 in and I have to confess that I had a minor blip last night. I was driving home from work and got caught up in a 2 hour traffic jam. Its the downside of living in a National Park in the summer holidays and having to drive past Day One of the annual county show. I started dreaming about chicken and the upshot was that I bought a hot cooked chicken which I devoured. In the scheme of things it could have been a lot worse. I felt satisfied so didn't then chase it down with wine, or tuck into carbs, but I am a bit disappointed that I caved in as its only week 2 and I'm so near to losing 1st stone. I reckon that must have been about 1000 calories (I only ate a little skin for what its worth).

Anyhoo, back on plan today and still in ketosis. But feel sluggish, tired and uncomfortable. Plan to drink plenty of water, and cut out coffee and cola today. I will also up my walking activity over the next couple of days to burn up some of those calories. I would love to lose 2lb by WI Friday to get my first stone off.

Back on track after the chicken blip. Hope it doesn't affect tomorrows WI too much.

Went to a lovely hotel in Bournemouth for a mini spa day with 3 lovely (if skinny) friends. I'm so fed up with being the biggest one in the group. In fact the only time I've not been the biggest was in 2006 when I slimmed down for my wedding.

That said I am also the fittest - go figure! They figured out quite soon on that I wasn't following a "normal" diet when I refused cake with my coffee but were a bit more open minded when I explained vlcd to them. In fact 1 friend was very interested! Spent the day swimming and lazing looking out over the bay...perfect. In fact so enjoyable that we have booked another day in 4 weeks time. Hopefully my weight loss will start showing by then.

Its got me thinking what regular exercise to take up to start toning up. I have the 30 day shred DVD which I love but haven't done it for ages. Also have Wii fit. Not really a gym bunny but have been known to run a bit. Or maybe Zumba...

Good luck on the exercise, which ever you choose. Fingers crossed for weigh in.

Thanks Susie.

Down by the beach this evening and walked past a Harry Ramsden takeaway. How I didn't walk in I don't know. It was a miracle!!! I found an ounce of willpower. Think it was thought of the WI tomorrow that kept me going. I must sort out these cravings...

Spent the night dreaming of fish n chips lol. BUT so glad I didn't give in as lost total of 14lb at today's WI...A whole stone in 2 weeks!!!

Cravings have been really bad though and I will have to be careful this weekend as I don't think it will take much. Its strange to pinpoint whats causing the cravings though. I felt very relaxed yesterday so not stress, I'm not hungry, not bored, not particularly happy or sad...I just want to eat. Not any old thing. An apple wouldn't do it. Something far less healthy. I think I could probably do with hibernating until it passes.

This diet couldn't have gone any better these last 2 weeks so I just need to trust in it and get on with it.

Keep going Jac, these cravings will come & go so you need to devise some kind of coping strategy. Just think of how well you have done in the last 2 weeks & what it felt like to see the scales gradually moving downwards x

3 hour walk geocaching with my son and his friend yesterday at local country park. They were moaning so much at the end of the day. I could have kept going :)

Decorated the spare room today. All good activity but nothing structured planned just yet.

Out dancing with hubby at a friends 40th tonight. Got to avoid the buffet...and keep dancing.

Hey Jac, just caught up on your diary and boy do I relate to the cravings!!! Mine have settled down now thank goodness, but I am sure they will rear up again at some point least expected. Well done for resisting. Also I don't think chicken was the worst thing to blow out on... At least it has no carbs :)
We can do this!!
Hugs - Phat.

Well done on the walking Jac, are your feet hurting from all that dancing last night ? x

Loved the dancing. I'm going to try Zumba classes I think. Feet ached a bit but not as much as willpower from staying away from the buffet! I did sneak a cocktail sausage but countered it with my coke zero & sparkling mineral water. Had a great time anyway and no hangover to boot.

Off to RNLI funday, maybe some crabbing with ds & definitely some geocaching. I might dust off an old pedometer to see how far I walk.

Happy Sunday

Well done Jac. Successful night. Pedometer sounds good. It does motivate you to gradually walk a little more as the weeks pass x

Sooooo happy. Received first compliment today about my weight loss from a colleague at work. I had made the mistake of jumping on the scales this morning and STS from Friday despite being 99.9% good, so this was a really motivating moment. My jeans do feel a little looser but I wouldn't have thought noticably so. Still I will accept any compliment offered ;).

Tried the rasperry and blueberry pancakes last night. They were quite gloopy and sweet and I'm not sure if I love them or not yet...will try them again tonight. They make a nice change from the shakes. And I love the choc and orange bars.

Fingers crossed that I can shift some lbs by WI on Friday. Good luck this week everyone x
