Hello! Planning to start Exante!

Hi all,

Have ordered the shakes and soups Exante starter pack for 2 weeks as it was on a very good offer, I'm currently away from home visiting family so I'm intending to start on Tuesday, however I'm going away to Madrid next wednesday for 5 days to visit my OHs friends so I won't be able to stay on plan (don't really want them to know and don't want to ruin my OHs holiday by not being able to eat out). So my question is...is it worth it to start the plan for a week, take 5 days off it and then start back on it or is ot better to wait til after the holiday? I really want to start it ASAP as I feel I'm "in the zone" mentally.
Any advice greatly appreciated as I have never done a VLCD before and I will need plenty of support when I actually do start. Think Minimins is going to be very u:)seful, as it already has been!

Welcome folelylf,

I have moved your thread to the Exante forum as it will get more attention here.

If you really want to start and feel you are in the zone then I would go with the flow...if you think you could low carb while on holidays, this means eating mostly non starchy veggies and protein and staying away from cakes, chocolate, chips etc...otherwise you will gain what you have lost in a week if you go back to eating a lot of carbs right away.

What you will lose the first week is mostly glycogen and water and some fat...by introducing high carbs suddenly after a week of doing TFR you will overfill your glycogen stores which is referred to by body builders as carb overloading and it will show on the scales.

Thanks for your reply Mini,
That sounds like a good idea going non-carb while im away, i think spanish food will work well for that!
Fingers crossed my delivery will be at home so I can start tomorrow!
What plan do you follow yourself?

Personally I would save my packs til after your holiday and stick to the low carb diet before hand since your in the zone, or even try the working solution til you get back off holiday?? But if you plan to drink on holidays then make sure you aren't in ketosis!!

Grr I almost wish I wasn't going away now! Think I might try the working solution this week so and stay v low carb. I know I'll end up drinking a bit of red wine when away! Thanks ChellyWellyBoot

I know it's a nightmare isn't? Nothing worse than being all prepared for it! Just enjoy your holiday and try and keep the same mind set =)

Hope you have a great time!!

why dont you use this time to start making small changes in preperation fir exante, so just start cutting down the crap and lowering carbs, that way you will be preparing your body but if you have a drink or something like cake etc it wont make you feel like you have failed

Well i'm doing the working solution, 3 soups or shakes and a small v low carb meal at dinner time between 25-400 kcals, its working well for me, not missing food TOO much cos at least im eating something. But yeh i'm hoping I can control myself when in Madrid! Think Spanish food is not the worst though, fish, meat, veg...just stay away from the paella and patatas bravas!
What plan are you on yourself, and how are you doing?

Oh well done!
ijust started 100% total solution yesterday. Did it last year and lost a couple of stone but let it slip before reaching my target
I'm going to Menorca in June so that will be a 2 week break from exante as it is a family holiday and i just want to focus on having fun with my family

So as I approach day 7 of the exante diet my initial motivation for starting appears to be floundering somewhat....saying tht my goals are clear. Tipping the scales at my heaviest I decided enough is enought it's either this or bariatric surgery which scares the hibeejeebees out of me. It is defo tough going but it is the only way I can gain any control over my eating habits and actual starting to make links about my overeating and hormone imbalance. It is defo a good choice. Enjoy ur holiday and get into it when you get back. Looking forward to hearing ur progress and sharing mine
