Running shoes

Hi can anyone recommend a good pair of trainers for running ? I want to pay about £60 and I run about 12 miles a week mainly on the road ....

I love my Nike Air Pegasus, but all my friends have their own preferences that work the best for them (including a couple who wear no shoes at all!)

Go to a fancy running store and try a few on. See what you like and ask what they recommend, and then hot-foot it out of the expensive store and find the same thing (or last seasons version of the same thing) for less online. I find Sports Direct online has a really good range at good prices. Some of them might be last seasons models, but who cares? They still work! Plus you get a massive mug for your morning coffee out of it...

I'd agree with the previous answer, I asked this question of my personal trainer, she recommended going to a specialist running shop as most record how you run and recommend trainers based on foot fall, gait, etc. she said anyone in the business who recommends a shoe without watching you run or jog won't give you the best advice!!

I echo what everyone else has said. I've bought numerous pairs of cheap running trainers and they've always injured me or not felt comfortable. I had my gait analysed and was told I overpronate and was recommended trainers based on that. I have the Mizuno Wave Inspires - I love them!

Don't be pressured into buying in a shop though - decent running trainers tend to be pricey and are usually that seasons style. You can find cheaper trainers of the same type online which are last seasons. Usually the difference is the style or colour. Go to a proper running shop and not somewhere on the high street like DW Sports - I can't imagine they know their mouth from their elbow.
