Nearly completed Phase 1 - wondering how people are finding Phase 2?

Pinkie1973

Starting over again......
Hey girls how are you all getting on? I'm on day 4 phase 1 at the moment, I feel better for it, though I daren't check my weight loss - I'll save it for Saturday am.

My history is that I did Slimming World successfully last year, losing just 3lbs shy of 4 stone. I started running and was feeling pretty good. However, come December it all started going wrong: running injury, too much frivolity throughout December, and ended the year on the verge of a breakdown. So start this year with over a stone and a half on, 3 months off work (depression and anxiety. I'm back now and things are much better.) and just really struggling to get back into SW. So I thought I'd try this 'diet' if only to shake things up a bit, with a slightly different approach (though not a million miles away from the SW philosophy. I wondered how people were getting on with Phase 2? My intention is to start it on Saturday, but as I'd really like to make some inroads into my recent gain, I thought about repeating Phase 1 next week?

So far its been fine, the only craving has been for fruit. Any other hankerings have just been fleeting. But I am getting a little bored now.

Whether I revert back to P1 on Monday depends on a) how my weight loss has gone this week, and b) how P2 goes over the weekend.

My start weight Jan 2011 was 17 stone exactly. At the start of Phase 1 this Monday just gone, I was 15st 4lbs (annoying hey!).

So my plan is, try this for a bit (I'm gonna give it an honest month) and then see where I am then. Wish me luck!

I am on day 4 of phase 1 too....
I am thinking I will do the ten days, then maybe do phase 1 again as think I could have done better!

I did slimming world too 2 years ago and need a kick up the bum to get back down the scales!

Well done!!

Are you doing 10 days of phase 2 then back to Phase 1? Do you have a lot of weight to lose like me?

I don't think I could have stuck to the plan any better than I have. Though yesterday and today I did permit myself some seeds on the NLY. I believe that is allowed though.

So today's food (so far....)

Breakfast:
NLY (0% fat) with some seeds.
4 pieces of back bacon grilled, and 2 scrambled eggs cooked with butter.

Lunch:
50g brown rice, pan fried salmon, medley of vegetables (peppers, celery, shallots, tomatoes). See pic.

I am still really craving fruit, but have been drinking lots of water instead (I say this, as I wonder if actually I'm just very thirsty!). Also been drinking plenty of herbal teas. Liquorice tea does me instead of coffee, and I like peppermint tea in the day. Not sure about tea yet. Are we allowed beef mince? I could do bolognaise sauce with salad. Or maybe convert that veggie medley into something. Maintaining my interest is key here I think. If I can concoct more recipe ideas, I reckon I could hang out phase 1 a bit longer, which would be great.

Update...

I was feeling (very) lazy, so we had a chicken shish kebab with salad. I chucked out the pitta bread. Feel stuffed now, was gorgeous though, the chicken was beautifully cooked. Nom.

0%NLY with some seeds on top later.

Ok, so I lost 8lbs - I'm now 14st 10lbs. I also think I'm gonna try and keep phase 1 up over the weekend, I just need to increase the variety in my meals. I would really like to start phase 2 at 14st 7lbs (or less of course lol). Interesting to note too, that for once I didn't wake up craving fruit! I am really trying to drink a lot more fluids though (outside of my meals) in the form of water and herbal teas. I've obviously been very lucky as I've not suffered any symptoms at all. Possibly because although I eat a lot of rubbish, I eat a lot of healthy food too. Oh well, whatever, I'm certainly not complaining.

Food today (I'll update this throughout the day)....

Breakfast:
4 slices grilled back bacon, 2 scrambled eggs cooked in butter, 2 halved grilled tomatoes.

Lunch:
3 slices peppered ham (snack while lunch cooking).
2 low fat, gluten free sausages, rest of yesterday's veggie medley. Hopefully the sausages will be ok, she did say gluten free ones from the butcher can be fine (which is where I got them from).

Tea:
Another chicken shish kebab with lots of salad (and no pitta bread). I really hope they're ok. I know they're free on SW, so hopefully not too much damage if not.

I'll have a bowl of yoghurt later, and probably sprinkle some seeds on it. That should be me done for the day then. Haven't missed fruit at all today - but had to get away from my sister's quick as they were cracking open the cider. And I'm a sucker for alcofrolic apples!

Continuing (quite happily I might add) with phase 1.....

Breakfast:
Large portion of low fat NLY yoghurt with seeds sprinkled on top.

Snack:
Piece of lean ham.

Lunch:
2 salmon steaks pan fried with tomatoes and herbs with salad leaves.

ForumRunner_20120624_131738.jpg

Tea:
BBQ, so 3 low fat gluten free sausages, 1 pork rib, 2 chicken wings. 2 mini corn on the cobs and 2 tomatoes. No alcofrol!

Snuck a couple of yoghurt coated cranberries and a small handful of nuts and raisins/cranberries during the football - I'd run out of nails....

Quick update - have lost a further 2lbs (10lbs in total after one week), taking me to 14st 8lbs. Feel good still, so am gonna continue with phase 1 today. I know at any point I've had enough I can slip into phase 2. Probably Friday as I'll be meeting a mate - red wine in order.

Lunch prepared for work, and stir fry veg and chicken ready for tea. Bring it on!

Dinner:

Chicken and vegetable stir fry, cooked with olive oil.

Sneaky bowl of low fat NLY with seeds. They are only a sprinkle each time, but I hope I'm not overdoing the seeds.

I've also realised I've stopped having the rice, last time was last Thursday I think. Again I hope this isn't a problem. I'm eating plenty of veg, so lots of roughage anyway. I'm sure my body will start screaming if it is an issue. But actually I still feel absolutely fine on phase 1 (day 8!). If anything, a bit more energetic. And I've also noticed I'm not picking in between meals as much, the meals themselves are keeping me fuller for longer!

Breakfast:
Nothing just herbal tea

Lunch:
Yoghurt with seeds

Tea:
2 pieces of ham.
2 chicken breasts chopped and stir fried with green beans and herbs/spices in butter and olive oil. Served on a large bed of salad leaves.

I'm worrying about my yoghurt now as it may be too high in carbs! Eek! Anyway, today I've been really fancying some wine, but I'm going to be good and hold off till the weekend.

I have to say though, its so nice not counting anything!

Breakfast:
Yoghurt with seeds

Lunch:
4 sausages and about one chicken breast.

Tea:
More yoghurt and seeds.

Was at an 'away day' with work today - hence the lunch, there was no salad on offer. But I don't feel hungry now I'm in, so just a quick snack of olives. I am sure those sausages were not necessarily great for this plan, but they were bloody gorgeous! :)

So far then I've lost 13lbs, taking me down to 14st 5lbs.

I've been reading the Harcombe Diet Club forum (won't let me post for some reason, and I'm blown if I'm paying for the privilege). It seems there can be loads of carbs in low fat yoghurt! Honestly, you can't do right for doing wrong hey? I've still got a load of low fat NLY to use up, but found done Onken NLY which seemed much lower in carbs.

I have also noticed a marked reduction in my sinusy type symptoms. Ears and nose are much less bunged up this week, despite continued hayfever. So I wonder if I was a bit more sensitive to certain foods than I realised.

So tonight will be the first night I truly break phase 1. It will only be some red wine (probably a couple of bottles to be precise, whoops!). Other than that it'll be phase 1 for the rest of the day. Same story tomorrow too, wine in the evening but back on plan for the rest of it.

I am feeling so determined now to get back to my pre-Christmas weight of 13st 3lbs. As I feel so happy on phase 1 I'm seriously considering sticking with it till I get to that goal and then moving to phase 2 afterwards. I'll take that idea one day at a time though, see how I feel, see how the weight loss goes.

Anyhoo, today's food.....

Breakfast:
Low fat NLY with some seeds sprinkled on.

Snack:
Olives.
Carrot.

Tea:
Roast chicken, roast carrots, roast celeriac with brocolli and greens. Gravy made from oxo cube and chicken juices, no thickener. (At least its cooking at the time of posting, hope its good, it smells delicious and my mouth is watering!

Well, I drank about 2 bottles of red wine Friday night, and can safely say I won't be doing that again in a hurry. I was terribly, terribly ill. No one to blame but myself of course.

Yesterday's food was completely shonky as a result. Half phase 2, half very bad.

So one bad day, I'm not going to beat myself up, but just carry on. I'm going to carry on with Phase 1 for a bit longer, so, today's food....

Breakfast:
4 pieces of back bacon.

Lunch:
Onken NLY with some seeds.

Snack:
Olives.

Don't think I'll be eating much else today, I still feel really sick and certainly can't face cooking. I'll weigh in tomorrow am and hopefully will have some good news after the first fortnight of Harcombeing. I'm on a roll!

Woo hoo! Now down to 14st 3lbs, so that's 15lbs gone! Yippeedee! :)

Call me obsessive, but let's see if I can't Harcombe off another 4lbs this week to get into the 13's. Ok maybe I'm asking too much, but I'll just carry on eating as I was (no alcohol!), unless of course I truly feel phase 2 beckoning.

Happy bunny so far. :)

Breakfast:
2 x Yeo Valley NLY (I'm travelling on business today so had to make do) with mixed seeds.

Lunch:
2 x pan fried salmon fillets with lots of salad leaves.

Snack:
Medium decaf latte. Was gagging whilst waiting for a train. If this were a phase 2 day though, I believe that would be allowed, so I'm not gonna beat myself up too much about it.

Tea:
Chicken with stir fried veg (cooked with olive oil)

I think on reflection, I shouldn't strictly speaking have the seeds everyday. However, all the time i am losing weight i will still have a few stirred in with my morning yoghurt. Hell, they are pretty nutritious and healthy after all. So aside from my latte blip a good day.

I'm out to lunch tomorrow, so that could be a challenge. Whatever I get, I will no doubt get some sort of potato served with it - so may just have to leave it on my plate. No other concerns for a while after that though, so shouldn't have any distractions from my phase one-athon! :)

Ooops a few bad days there - and I can feel the blubber too. Worth noting that the carb cravings started a week before I'm due on, so that might be something to watch out for next month. Maybe get in some decent complex carbs that week/few days to try and head it off.

Anyhoo, back on phase 1 - detox again plus my goal of getting to 13st 7lbs before my holiday in 4 weeks time.

Yesterday's food....

Breakfast:
5 rashers grilled back bacon, 3 scrambled eggs.

Lunch:
2 chicken breasts chopped and marinated in seasoned/spiced yoghurt then grilled. 50g brown rice, stir fry vegetables.

Tea:
Yoghurt with a few seeds.

Loads of herbal tea and a 30 min run in the morning. Was really craving wine all afternoon/evening, but I resisted.

Today's food....

Breakfast:
Greek yoghurt with seeds.

Lunch:
2 pan fried salmon steaks with salad leaves.

Tea:

Right - well that all went a bit wrong.
But! I have given up smoking, a week now. I've paid the price in weight, but I had to focus on stopping the dirty weed.

So I'm back up to 15 stone. Not great, but at least o didn't put absolutely everything back on.

I have also now got the recipe book which has some great ideas in. So, today's food....

Breakfast:
NLY yoghurt with seeds.

Snack:
Some more seeds.

Lunch:
2 pan fried salmon, with 50g dried weight brown rice, 2 chopped tomatoes and salad leaves.

Tea:
Chicken stir fry (cooked in olive oil).
4 rashers of back bacon.

Yoghurt with seeds sprinkled in.

I've drunk about 4 pints of herbal tea today too.

I shouldn't have had those extra seeds. But I was so hungry. I think in these early days my breakfast needs to be a bit more substantial, so I'll have scrambled egg and bacon tomorrow.
