Hello from North East - looking for support

Hi everyone, I'm Jan in my mid 50s and have been struggling with my weight for a long time (seems like I'm not alone)

Last year I was referred to a diet and fitness group funded by the NHS by my GP and I managed to go from 13 stone 4lbs to 11 stones. I was absolutely thrilled and felt fantastic, although I really would like to be around 9 stone 7lbs I felt so much better with over 2 stones off.

However in December we moved house to another town and there isn't a similar slimming club. I'm not working and funds are desperately tight. I went along to weightwatchers as it was first meeting free but I couldn't afford to go back and didn't really understand their points system which seemed very complicated!

I've battled to keep off the weight I lost and been managing so far but not managed to lose any more - but this week I discovered its beginning to creep on again and I'm up to 11 stone 3. feeling every depressed about it and when I'm depressed - I overeat.

I am going to a pilates class but need some more support and encouragement to help me stick to a healthy eating plan. I found going once a week to the diet group and getting weighed, sharing tips and ups and downs with other slimmers really made the difference but I just can't afford to join a paid for slimming club. Hoping to find the same level of help and support here.

I can't cope if my weight goes up and up yet again.

Try not to be so hard on yourself Hun, 3lbs isn't that much. Take advantage of the free things. Walk more drink lots of water. Try your local council and see off they run any classes for anything for free. Anything from aerobics to pottery would keep your brain occupied x

Hi

I'm new to this site aswell and you sound very much like myself. Our ages may be different but I lose 6 stone 7 pounds in total which feels amazing but then I put 1 stone 4 pounds back on. The most I seem to be able to get off now is 7 pounds and it soon goes back on again! It very dis heartening. Especially when I've seen the weight I want to be but just can't get back to it.

Let's just say you def not on your own :) x

Does your surgery not do a referral system where you can attend a slimming club free for 12 weeks.

Worth asking.
