All my UPs and DOWN's

Kittywhite

is smiling :D
I'm 50 and granny to 4 boys, the last one was born just 3 hours ago!!! Whoot! I wish I could see him but mommy lives in Canada.
I have 3 children, 2 are married, my son lives close by in Swansea, my eldest daughter in Canada, my baby girl, who will be 20 next week, lives with me.
I have bipolar disorder so take meds which can make it difficult to lose weight, I'm also hypothyroid and have high blood pressure which I also take meds for.
My main goal is to lose weight for my health, I'm at that age where everything starts to fall apart and droop :D I seriously need to get my weight down.
I've been around 16st for over a year, my highest ever weight. I dropped 1/2 stone from a stomach bug and it stayed off so this spurred me on to try once again to lose. I started dieting on the 27th sept.
I lost 3lb last week trying 1400cals & XLS Medical but it made me really constipated and I had to stop using it.

I had no idea what JUDDD was so I had a good nosey around the forum and liked what I read.
I've started today with a DD, right now, at 3:30pm I'm hungry lol. All I've had so far is several cups of tea. I've counted the milk, semi-skimmed as 125cals, for dinner I'm having a WW Beef & veg hotpot at 238cals, thats 363 totalcals and I'll probably have a piece of fruit.
On the JUDDD website the calculator gave me 1973/395 so I'm going to try and stick as close as possible to the DD cals, wont know about the UD till I get there and see how much of a pig out I want to go for :D

This diet has the potential to be good for the long term and as a lifestyle change, guess it all depends on how hard the DD's are. I'm going to be doing alternate days. I dont work right now so I guess that might make it easier for me.

Right I'm done...now to stick to it! :)

alister.jpg Here he is, my brand new Grandson, 5 hours old, Alister Christopher Wall born in Canada 7lbs 15oz. I'm so hyped!!!!! :D I just wanna squish him and kiss him lol
Taken my mind off of starvation, I've been so excited.:bliss:

Kitty, he is beautiful!! Im 52, have high bp and cholesterol and had bone cancer earlier this year although I am fine now...its all gone. I totally know what you mean about things going downhill once you get to your 50's , as much as weight loss Im doing this for my health. I have a beautiful 2 year old grandaughter and want to be fit and healthy for as long as I possibly can. I am having the bp checked next week so am hoping it will have gone down, 3 months ago dr said it was the high side of normal.

Best of luck with the judding, its a fab way of eating and the people on here are lovely! x

welcome to the forum and good luck ,great support on here .Your grandson is adorable welcome to the world little man :)

Thank you :) Pauline, Jacci and Mummy

I managed to get thru my 1st down day, went to bed hungry and I was fantasing about what I'd be eating today, a bowl of cornflakes sounded like bliss. And I did have cornflakes when I got up this morning also had a high calorie lunch, trying not to restrict myself too much on the up days. I am tracking it all in myfitnesspal to see how much I overeat or not.
I did weigh myself this morning, couldnt resist after starving, sorry I mean fasting :D yesterday. I lost 2lbs, it was exciting to see 15st 0lbs on the scale. I know that will go back up after today but still it was good to see. I'll be happy with that as my loss for the week next thursday.

Jacci, congratulations on surviving cancer, that is truly awesome. I cant imagine what that would have been like, very scary I would think.
I too get my BP checked next week! on the 11th lol
Grandchildren are just amazing, the whole "omg my babies are having babies of their own", took me by surprise when my 1st grandson was born, I didnt realise I would feel the way I did. I love them so much.

I need to take a look at the other diaries and say hello :)

Hi Kitty, I was very very lucky in that it was caught early, I tried to open a locked window and work and broke my wrist ( which was a bit strange)and they found it in the xray, surgery is the only cure and they removed it, put in a bone graft and in Aug I had the all clear! Just need to be checked for a bit longer and that should be it!!
Grandchildren are an absolute joy arent they, my little one was a total surprise but she is the light of my life!!
Very well done on your first DD and we can compare Bp's, mine is being checked on 11th as well!!

Take care..x

Congratulations on your Grandson and welcome to JUDDD. I used to dream about food too on my first few down days and everytime any food was mentioned or I saw a picture of some I would crave whatever it was lol. Fortunately that has worn off now. Water helps me on dds, lots of it and the trips to the loo I have to make don;t give me much time to eat haha!

Enjoy your UD x

Hi scarlett, thanks for the welcome and I know what you mean about the trips to the loo, they keep me busy too :)

Jacci, I guess you had a "lucky break" bet you've heard that one before (sorry lol)

I wasnt around much yesterday wasn't feeling 100%, just mooched in front of the TV. Diet is still going strong tho, had my 2nd DD yesterday it was easier than the 1st one.
Because its a new diet and because I like to know "whats going on" :) I've been weighing daily and its very very interesting! Today is day 4

My Dr.J calculation was 1973/395

day 1 15st:2 -DD 354 cals
day 2 15st:0 -UD 1934 cals
day 3 15st:1 -DD 455 cals
day 4 14st:13 -UD

The total calories so far is 2743 that is just a little over 900 cals average per day, no wonder you lose weight on this diet. Being able to eat anything on the up day is amazing, if I had to do 900 cals a day I'd cave before the week was up. This way is so easy. Granted I do struggle with that last couple of hours before bed on a DD but sure that will just get easier as I do more of them.

On my UD's I am logging what I eat but I'm not restricting what I eat in anyway. I log it in MFP so that I can see if I go way above 2000 cals, whether I get a weight gain, and also what foods are causing a problem, like those half a dozen cream cakes or chips & curry from the chippie :D (no I havent had any of those.......yet lol )

Carrying on my daily watch

day 1 15st:2 -DD 354 cals

day 2 15st:0 -UD 1934 cals
day 3 15st:1 -DD 455 cals
day 4 14st:13 -UD 2114 cals
day 5 15st:0 -DD

The total calories so far is 4857 or 1214 daily over 4 days.

I seem to drop 2, gain 1, drop 2, gain 1 if it carries on like this I will lose 5lbs at the end of the week, yay!
I'm a bit nervy this morning I have an interview at 2pm and I'm on a DD, I'm hoping I can handle it ok, that my brain is still gonna function on nil calories. I might have a slimfast shake just before I go, maybe, I'll see how I feel. If my belly starts rumbling I would be so embarrassed.

:thankyou: Jacci (I like playing with the smilies lol)

Excellent result for my interview.:winner:
It wasnt for a paid job but a work placement with a charity. I start 22/10, 10am-2pm every monday.
I havent worked since 2010 when I became really ill, so now I'm being mentored and assisted back into work one step at a time thats why its not a "proper" job .(I'm not really as lame as that sounds honest lol)
I am so chuffed.

My diet went well too, I did have a slimfast shake for lunch, just to make sure my brain would still work and belly wouldnt rumble, but this puts me up to 550cals, a bit steep. I prefer 400 but oh well.
It was 230 for the slimfast and I'm having a WW chicken casserole at 197 cals for dinner. The rest comes from my semi-skim milk allowance. I drink tea by the bucket load.

:bunnydance:I am such a happy bunny today:bunnydance:

Glad to hear it went well, congratulations!! Just to say I always have 500 cals for my DD's and touch wood its all going ok so far.

Make sure you have a nice relaxing evening happy bunny!!x

Well done on your interview. I always have around 500 cals too on DD even tho the website says much less but it's still working :) so don't worry.

Thank you lovely ladies :)

My daily watch

day 1 15st:2 -DD 354 cals
day 2 15st:0 -UD 1934 cals
day 3 15st:1 -DD 455 cals
day 4 14st:13 -UD 2114 cals
day 5 15st:0 -DD 550 cals
day 6 14st:13 -UD

The total calories so far is 5407 or 1081 daily over 5 days.

Only had a 1lb drop today instead of the usual 2. I'm wondering if thats because I ate 2 meals yesterday instead of my usual one or because I had slightly more calories or maybe none of the above LOL...ohhh I can be so anal at times:D

Have college today 1-4pm and have to catch a bus at 11:30am so I dont normally eat till teatime but its an up day. Right now I'm not hungry for breakfast but I might have make to myself eat (didnt think I'd ever say that on a diet!) I might grab a coke and a mars bar for "lunch" I like to eat healthy:8855:
I usually just have a bottle of coke that keeps me going thru the afternoon, sugar and caffeine yum, and I'll add the mars bar to boost my calorie intake.
Tuesday as a DD will be perfect but I have to wait for next week for that.

I have no appetite, where'd it go?
