Fasting with Faith

Hello,

My name's Faith. I'm 34 years old, work in HR, I'm 5ft 3inches and weigh in at 11st 11lbs today. I think I'm a dress size 16 but as I live in elasticated and loose clothes I'm not quite sure what my exact size would be. I have taken my measurements along with my weight as I'm keen to see inches drop.

A few weeks back I got a health scare and although all is well now it shook me up enough to make proper changes in my life and part of my lifestyle overhaul is losing weight healthily and effectively. I've seen friends and family members lose weight and feel better with fasting so I decided to give it a go too.

The health benefits associated with fasting really appeal to me along with my ability to do it. I read some books and other info on fasting such as The 5:2 diet, ADF, JUDDD, Fast-5, Fast and Feast and just Intermittent Fasting in general to gain a better understanding and I chose to do 24 hour fasts twice a week where all I consumed was lots of water, a few mugs of herbal tea, one coffee and one fizzy diet drink. During the non-fasting times, I eat as normal ensuring I eat nutrient rich foods with the occasional splurge too but I am tracking my calories and staying at between 1700 - 2000 cals. I began my 24hr fasting at 7pm after my dinner so the fasts didn't feel too harsh for me although I did get the belly rumbles a lot. I will be keeping Saturday as my weigh in day and I will also measure myself on a monthly basis and post that up on here.

So far I have lost 4lbs in just under a week. I know that was probably just a one-off and I'm happy to lose just a pound a week and get healthier and fitter along the way. I also do strength training about 3 times a week (non-fast days) and go on daily walks. I hope that by keeping a diary here on MMs, I'll be able to track my progress and be inspired by others too.

X

Hi Faith,

Subscribing to your diary as I am going back to alternate day fasting to get to a healthy BMI. I have recently tried the Lipotrim diet again and only managed to successfully complete four days. Lipotrim has worked for me in the past but I don't seem to have the willpower at the moment to sick to it 24/7. From today I am going to do 3 or 4 days a week on meal replacement packs & eat as healthily as I can the other days with the odd treat thrown in. I'm 5ft 2" (just about!) 48 & weigh 12st. The health benefits of fasting really appeal to me too, especially as I seem to have become so much more conscious of my health recently.

Wishing you well with your regime. You've done really well to get started.

Thank you! Sorry for the late reply. I do check this site but I've been more active on other social media.

Hope things are going great for you WB x

It's been 2 weeks and so far I've lost 2lbs thus taking me to 11.9. I'm enjoying the aspect of fasting so far as I'm losing weight yet still eating all the yummy foods I like. It is slower weight loss than other diets but it's the most sustainable for me. I do sometimes get it in my head that I could do it faster with other diets but I've been there, done that, bought the blouse and not interested anymore. This is what I'm going to do and carry on doing until September. If, by September, I don't see much in terms of physical body changes, then I will review it then.
