Hello fasting!!

Hey everyone,

I'm Sarah, 33 years old, wife to Tom and Mummy to Cole (who was 1 on NYE). Having struggled with SW, WW, RC, VLCD's I've found myself still stuck at a weight I don't want to be and I'm not happy with. As soon as I tell myself I'm on a 'diet' I want ALL the food!! So I've been looking for a new way of life where I can still eat realistically without counting and came across fasting. Having stalked a few of your diaries I've decided to give it a go.

I do have another diary in Silvers but it was originally a ttc diary, then a pregnancy one and now it's just day to day rubbish more than food related. So I though I'd start afresh with a food diary here in case people don't want to be bored with hearing about my day at soft play or how many hours Cole slept the previous day ;) Luckily I dropped my baby weight within a month of having him so it's just a lot of pre baby weight that I need to sort out.

I did my first fast day on Saturday (which will be WI day from now on) and was 102kg. My goal weight is somewhere between 66 and 72kg but I'm not concentrating on that yet, I just want to change the way I see food and find something that works for me. I've decided to weigh in kg as I don't really understand them and when I weigh in pounds or stones I get hung up on each stone bracket and give up! Plus my scales don't do .something of a pound whereas it does in kg and a loss is a loss, right? The plan is to work out how many calories I need in a week, minus off my fast days then divide the rest over the week. I'm aiming to do 2-3 fasts per week.

Anyway, I managed to fast both Saturday and Sunday to give me a kick start and yesterday morning had so far lost 1.9kg. I'm an obsessive daily weigher, which is something else I need to change, but everything slowly slowly. Yesterday was an UD and because I'd not been thinking about food the previous two days I only ended up eating 1068 calories so need to plan better.

Well it was going to be a fast day until I realised I've done two and I want to fast the day before WI every week so need to fast Fridays. Need to do an online shop tonight so tea is just jacket potato with cheese, salad and beetroot. And I can't wait!!xx

I never microwave food as a rule but with jacket potatoes I microwave them first then crisp them up in the oven. As long as you catch them in the microwave before they go wrinkly they're fluffy inside and crispy outside. Yum!x

How long would u say that is in the microwave and then in the oven? I still need to try them in my slow cooker x

I've never tried that!! That's an idea.
Usually ten minutes ish, depending on size. Once I can get a sharp knife in easily but the skin isn't horrible and wrinkly. And then 10 mins uncovered in the oven x

Today's food.

Planned on today being a DD but then realised that I did two at the weekend and an doing one Friday with WI being Saturday so ended up doing an UD. Didn't realise this until I'd fasted half the morning so didn't have breakfast.

Dinner/lunch

Eggy bread (dry fried) with Greek yoghurt, cinammon and banana.

Tea/dinner

Jacket potato with cheese and loads of salad

Snack/drinks

3 cups of tea
2 glasses of water
1 diet coke
Satsuma

According to mfp I've under eaten again but I'm full. Definitely need to plan my days better so I don't make the same mistake again. I could have had a lovely breakfast for all the calories I've missed. Going out for a meal tomorrow which will consist of creamy pasta and a pudding so that'll bump my weeks calories up ;)

Thanks Serena, I'm ridiculously excited about tonight. Can't believe it's the first time we've done anything alone together in over a year, apart from a couple of trips to Morrisons. Need to make it a more regular thing x

He'll be in bed so my sister is coming round. My Mum is coming too but more to keep my sister company. And because she keeps offering to watch Cole but I know as soon as she gets the chance she'll get him out of bed (when he was newborn he was asleep and she was taking photos of him with the flash on, even though I asked her not to, just to wake him up). Lindsay will stick to what I ask her to do so if my Mum is there she will see that and won't be able to use the excuse she didn't know what to do ;) x
