29 Stone Start Weight Diary by Lou

ive been overweight ever since i had my son 10 years ago. depression and family problems have all contributed and ive finally decided i need to do something about.

i am now in a great realtionship after getting the courage to leave my abusive husband last year, and my partner loves big women so hes made me feel good enough about myself, to do something about my weight!

i started last monday and have lost 5 lb. at least i think i have, my scales are temperamental. its very annoying! also this week its been Time Of Month (TOM) so i think my weight isnt accurate and im hoping that when i weigh on friday after TOM has gone, i will notice more of a loss. im desperate to see a loss result to make me feel better about the diet. ive been hungry and irritable and emotional, and i dont wanna have gone through all that for nothing!!

i know myself that 29 stone is horrifying!! its an acheivement for me to even tell anyone that!! i told my doctor over the phone, and he said "hmmm, your weight is critical, you need to come and see me" so i am going next tues and hes going to put me on Orlistat, but i know stocks of it are limited so i may not get my prescrition right away so im glad im over a week into the slimfast diet.
the dr will weigh me on tuesday so as thats a week away, im actually looking forward to weighing then and seeing more of a loss. also, to see if his scales say the same as mine!

i think hes going to weigh me once a month, and even if i cant get my orlistat, im going to weigh in with him regularly to keep a track of it!

im aiming for 12 stone but i realise this is a LOOOOOOONG way off, and am just going from day to day, week to week. i hope i can lose 6 stone by christmas, then i will at least be fitter and able to do some exercise without nearly passing out!

is anyone else looking to lose such a significant amount? or has anyone started at a similar weight and have a success story and before and after pics they could share to inspire me?

thanks for reading!! xx

Well done on taking that first step, remember though how long it has taken you to gain the weight it's not going to disappear over night and let's face it we all do that!
Take your weight from one set of scales don't get disheartened for example if the doctors scales say one thing and your scales at home weigh more or less!
Keep in mind how much you have lost not how much you have to loose, and make small atchieveable goals ie. a stone at a time or weekly targets.
Take one day at a time, concentrate on being 100% for that day and if you do fall off the wagon draw a line underneath immediately, don't think oh I will start again Monday!
I don't have as much weight to loose so I am unable to give u pics etc. but I can say that we all here know the trails and tribulations of loosing weight and it is a great place to get support. Good luck in your weight loss journey xx

I started at 21 stone, not slim fast another diet but the outcomes r the same. Just wanted to encourage you! So, I started at 21 stone and I am now 13.12. A little lighter than you but start weight doesn't matter, you have started. Stay strong and stay focused. You can do it x

Thanks :) I've amazed myself how good im
Doing. Just wanna see some results now! Am having about 1400 calories a day, but just signed up to my fitness pal which tells me to have 2300 a day!!!! I won't be doing that!!!

Well done you. You should be really pleased with yourself and proud. I have started this week. I was 21.10 and slim fast back then got me down to 19.10 and went on ww and have lost another couple of pound. I don't find it strict enough. So I'm back on it. I know it's only day 2 but don't feel so bloated! How can someone so large feel like that! But I do. Lol. I want to lose 2-3 stone by October the 1st. I'm going to Florida and want to fit on the rides!

Hiya. I started at 28 st. Not done slim fast as I want to eat lol but im doing slimming world and you never have to be hungry and eat lots of yummy things with great losses. It can be done just think positive and never give in! This is for your health remember and you are worth it. X

Well done for starting back. I don't feel so bloated either and although it's my TOM and my weight is showing up and down on the scales, I feel thinner, like the seatbelt in the car doesn't feel as tight etc but then that could just be me imagining things!! X

My avg is 2lb a week when on track but often lose 3 or more. I have tried dieting on and off for years but never got off mote than half a stone then in 2010 lost 6 stone on sw but then halted and started losing again this year after regaining some weight. It is not easy but my head is back in the game ready for another 6 stone and more. In the last 8 weeks I've lost 16lbs.

Who cares whether its real or not. I think it makes you feel better!! :) and when your minds in the right place there is no stopping you! X

For those of you who feel less bloated, as I do to I would be interested to know if you have stopped eating bread ? As I am positive bread bloats me something terrible.
Well done ladies on all your losses x

Well I don't have much bread, sometimes have brown toast no butter and beans for lunch. But I find when I eat pasta or pastry I get a really bad tummy! Prob got wheat intolerance but haven't looked into it!

I am so proud of myself!! I haven't even wanted any bad stuff!! Was at my friends cafe the other day and could have had a full English on the house but opted for beans on brown toast with no butter!! Woo go me!!!
Actually looking forward to being weighed at the drs on Tuesday!!! I usually panic!

I'm hungry alot but it no longer bothers me Like it used to! That is a huge thing for me! I hated being hungry, I very rarely was! I make so much
More of an effort with tea now as it's my only meal of the day and I thoroughly enjoy it :)

I've found this too. Having my evening meal as my only "food" of the day has made me really enjoy it. I'm a lot more appreciative of it now! Well done on turning down something you would of wanted too, I'm still learning to do this :p

Good for you :) It is all about making good food choice (get as much "bang for your calorie buck" as you can!) and you have done it very well!

And I am sure you will be pleased with the results too.

There is nothing wrong with feeling a little hungry from time to time, as long as you are not famished and feeling faint. Let's face it - we all got fat from never feeling hungry because we ate too much

I make so much more of an effort with tea now as it's my only meal of the day and I thoroughly enjoy it :)

Oh yes, I can relate to that. And I like to see how much I can get on my plate and stay under 600 calories too - a bit of a challenge ;)

I do that too, see what I can get for 600 calories. Do you count the calories in veg and salad ? I made chilli con carne last night and logged it on myfitnesspal and 1 tsp of chilli powder is 23 calories!!!

I count the calories in EVERYTHING. One of the reasons I failed so miserably on Slimming World because I over-ate "super free" foods like fruit and veg and some is surprisingly high in calories.

I find Slim Fast/calorie counting much more effective for me as I need to be told when to stop eating otherwise I will just graze for Britian if the diet says eat all you want of x, y and z

It is surprising how many cals are in certain foods, which all add up so I too add everything, one of the reasons I like slim fast is because I only have to think about one meal, I also like if you keep snax and meal healthy that it's nutritionally balanced
