12 stone 1lb to lose...

Hi everyone

Thought I would start a diary to try and follow my weigh loss journey. Sooo... My name is Stokegal, I'm 29 years old, have a 4 year old son and live with my partner of nearly 6 years.

I've been overweight pretty much since I was 19 (I was very slim before then) and my weight has crept on year by year. I did manage to lose 3 and half stone a few years ago on CD but predictably I put it all back on plié a few more stone!

Back to current day... I started this January weighing at 21st - managed to get down to 18 12 then took my eye off the ball and crept back up to 19 7, the lowest point was asking for a seatbelt extension on the airplane on a family holiday. I came back and vowed never again, so 2 weeks ago I weighed in at 19 6 determined and to date I'm now 18 13

I'm not following a regimented diet, I'm try to do clean eating / low carb stealing recipes from SW / plateo / HE and exercising as much as I can.

My first goal is to lose 13lb 1/2lb by 22nd November as this starts the Christmas party season and I would love to be in the 17's by then!

Thanks for reading! Hope I didn't bore you too much and feel free to comment

Welcome Stokegal! I live just next door in Newcastle, so it's nice to see another North Staffs lass on here. All the very best - hopefully you'll get lots of motivation and support in this part of the forum. :) xx

Thanks Tracey x Newcastle - that's posh Stoke lol. I find this forum fab for motivation, just need to ensure that I keep that motivation up in the real world!!

Today I've had a good day and states on diet and managed 2 hours of exercise - 1 hour of Zumba and 1 hour of Boxerercise so I'm feeling fab!

I weighed in this morning at 18 12 and 3/4 - I've lost 1/2lb each day for the past week so I'm hoping this can continue and I get get in those 17's ASAP!!

Lol, I'm Newcastle born and bred but have worked in Stoke a lot. :)

I'm sure you'll get into those 17s before you know it - it's amazing how those numbers start getting smaller once you get into it! I started at 21.5 stone, now just under 12.5 stone, so I'm getting there, slowly. Going into the UHNS on Thursday to have my gallblaffer out, so need to stay focused when I'm at home for a while after that, lol.

Hope you have a good day - at least it hasn't got too cold yet! :) xx

Wow that's amazing!! Can I ask how did you do it? Hope everything goes well on Thursday. I understand what you mean about staying focused at home - I do so well at work but then when I'm home alone on a Friday, all the food calls to me lol

The cold snap hasn't happened just yet but am have put the electric blanket in preparation :)

I weighed in this morning at 18 11 1/4 do I lost a massive 1.5lbs overnight!!! I'm going to HBT tonight but then to the pub after to have a girly catch up - I don't really go out as I'm so conscious about my weight but I'm forcing myself to become a but more social.

Hope you are having a good day x

Thank you! I do calorie counting, and was also prescribed Orlistat by my GP, which I think helped a little. It's taken me a couple of years, but it's reckoned to be best to lose weight gradually - helps cut diwn on the loose skin apart from anything else!

I'll be glad when my op's over on Thursday! I'm off work tomorrow, so I can get myself all sorted out ready for an early start on Thursday.

Hope everything's going well! :) xx

Hope everything goes well tomorrow - ill have my fingers crossed for you x

The diet is going well, after my 3 glasses of wine yesterday I thought I would get on the scales to a gain this morning but a miracle happened and I weighed in at.... Drum roll please... 18 9 3/4 - I lost another 1.5lbs!!! ??. I'm so motivated as I'm seeing the weight coming off quickly I just don't want to lose it when it slows down!

There has been a no exercise today - I need a rest to recover so I'm enjoying a night off by baking bread of all things ?

It was fab to go out last night - there was a fair few selfies taken and I didn't delete one because for the first time in a long time there was barely any double chins in sight!!! A few people have commented on my weight loss so far including my mum, who is normally my biggest critic!! I'm surprised anyone has noticed as I'm only 9lb down.

Tonight I ate my first processed item in over a week. Chicken breasts stuffed with Philly light and spinach coated in flour (naughty I know but yummy) and it was lovely - normally I would look for some carbs as a side dish, potatoes or rice but tonight we just had roasted carrots, roasted parsnips and roast onions - all dry roasted without oil!!

Hope everyone is feeling fab and motivated!!!

Thank you! I'm a bit nervous now, just want it to be over with!!

Well done on the weight loss, it's always great to see it come down, isn't it?! :) xx

Hope you got on ok day x

Today was my first test... I got on the scales and instead if seeing a loss they went back up to 18 10 1/2, a gain of 3/4lbs - this is normally something that would see me crying into the biscuit tin but instead I just thought "never mind - it will be gone again tomorrow" that's huge progress for me ?
I stayed on plan all day as well and made sure that I prepped my tea as I knew I wasn't going to be in until late as I was going to an exercise class and to pick my little boy up from my mums.
I made a Turkey Bolognese(ish) in the slow cooker which we had with brown pasta - it was really nice but I am feeling a but guilty if having carbs in the evening!!

Are you weighing yourself every day, hon? If you are, stop it right now!! Lol. Seriously though, don't weigh more than once a week, same day, same time each week. Weight just fluctuates too much on a daily basis. When I first started I only used to weigh every two months at the doctor's. Now I do it at home weekly but make myself stay off them in the week, lol. They'll drive you mad if you weigh too often, honestly. But well done on not letting it derail you, that really is an important step. :) xx

i agree do not keep weighing yourself everyday i have learnt the hard way and am starting all over again x x

Hi everyone

I haven't posted on here for a while, but I have been carrying and I'm not at a new weight if 17 stone 12 and 1/2 ?

Thanks for all the advice about not weighing yourself everyday but for me I find it really useful and a good reminder of why I am doing this. I might ease up in the weighing when I lose more weight as I won't see the weight coming down as quickly but for now it's something that I'm quite comfortable with.

Sooo... What's happened over the past 4 weeks... Well something strange has happened and I have discovered a love of exercise!!! And I mean a real love - can't wait to go and get sweating - even love the pains the next day love. I'm working out 5/6 times a week doing about 6/7 hours in total and I'm seeing such a huge difference in my fitness in such a short period of time. I've lost 4 inches from my waist, tummy and hips, an inch from each of my thighs and 1/2 inch from my dreaded bingo wings. I can jump now and will happily bounce around a Zumba class for an hour and I one of my greatest achievements is that I can now do full sit up!!! (Whilst holding a 5kg might I add)

I'm hoping that as I lose the weight slowly and as I'm doing it through exercise I won't have as much excess skin but I'll worry about that later, the focus at the moment is to get the weight down, get fit and keep living what I'm doing!!!

You are doing so well! And I am with you about the exercise - I am now excited about waking up early just to be able to work out before heading to work.

And a full sit up with weight! Wonderful - I still cannot do that ... one day...

All the best to you!

hi stokegal
hi sweetheart lovely to hear from you wow good on you with the gym i always say we are all different wot works for one does not for others well done i am glad you have something you love x x x x

Thats fab, I too am loving love zumba, even its wii fit zumba with the living room curtains closed. Just incase anyone see's me from the street and thinks im in distress or thinks im having a fit!

Ah thanks everyone. I am starting to turn into an exercise bore as that's all I want to talk about. I ask everyone what they do, how often and how much they can lift lol

I had a few set backs today which really upset me more than I let on. I'm doing some charity work tomorrow and work have ordered us all tshirts to wear and mine is an xxl and a horrible colour, there is another girl similar dress size to me and she is wearing the same size and colour whereas all of the smaller girls are wearing pretty pink ones and it just upset me to think that people will see me and think that she has to wear the fat coloured one!!! Then I had a slimmer colleague talking about her workouts and say that she did a load but my workouts would put hers to shame as I go pretty much everyday - the colleague who she told this too just said "really??" And looked me up and down... Then finally another male colleague and were talking about some heart rate monitors and he said (and he really don't mean it nastily) does the heart strap fit around you?? I was came away devastated an wanting to cry. Luckily I had a boxing class and focused my energy and frustration in throwing everything I had into it.

Anyway onwards and upwards - tomorrow is a new day and I will be one day closer to my goal x

Good day today people :) I weighed in at 17 11.75 and had a good half hour circuit training class. I have eaten rubbish today so am not expecting to see any kind of loss tomorrow but I'm not worrying about what I have eaten as it was all in moderation

B: 30g Special K & Soya Milk
L: 1/2 cheese and ham toastie + 1/2 portion of chips (we were out at a kids play centre)
Evening: handful of sons homemade deep fat fried chips (made by his aunt - I was starving waiting for my healthier tea!) 2 x BBQ Pringles
T: steak, jacket potato, bit of flora spread, mushrooms and homemade coleslaw
Plus small glass of rose wine

I've started a new thread for a 50lb challenge if anyone is interested in joining.
