Hi ..doing slimming world.. Am Vegetarian.. 42... Feel 142...weight issues all my life.. Self hatred an loathing ...Started last week at 20 st 1.5 lb lost 2.5 lb in first week.. Wanna lose half my body weight.. Compulsive rejoiner but this biggest I've ever been ....:-(

Hi, I've always been overweight and I want to lose about (or just over) half of my body weight too, so in a similar boat and I'm around the same age, I can also identify with the self loathing.

I rejoined this week, I usually join, leave, gain weight, re-join, and so on, but this time I'm hoping that buying the 6 week countdown might keep me there a bit longer than the usual 2-3 weeks, if so, I'll buy another 6 weeks and keep on going. :)

How's this week going for you? I always find the second week the hardest. x

Hi yes really everyday is struggle when the heads not right...second week a struggle...but always a little better than how I would be if I wasn't doing it at all...I'm just sick of wasting my whole life... I should've been slim a long time ago.. Then I wouldn't have ****ed up my immune system and have bad skin..so even if I ever miraculously lost the weight is have loose spotty pigmented skin.. Apologies if your having tea ;-(

Hi, hon, glad you found the right place to post. :) You can definitely do this! Your story sounds very similar to mine, I've struggled with my weight all my life, with 21.5 stone being my heaviest. This site has been instrumental in losing the excess 10 stone that I needed to, so keep coming on here for support and believing you can do it. :) xx

You found us :)

Keep posting, even if you get to a point where it's not going so well - these wonderful people are a great source of advice and support.

Thank you Theria for pointing the way here and Tracy I would love to know more about your journey x

Hiya! Well, I started in 2011 at the age of 49 - one of my knees had gone on me the year before due to osteoarthritis and it was just getting worse and worse. So I went to my GP as the practice nurse had previously suggested Orlistat. They gave me that, which isn't miraculous but may have helped a bit, and I just started calorie counting using MFP. Basically plodded along doing CC ever since! I don't exercise due to my shopping list of health issues, I just count the old calories and hope the scales are kind, lol. Not very exciting, I'm afraid, just a tale of a middle aged woman finally deciding enough was enough. I've found this site so incredibly helpful during the process, I've "met" some great people along the way and we've cheered one another on through the ups and downs - it's really great. :)

This is me:

I really hope you can get the same inspiration and support from the lovely people on here that I always have. :) xx

Hi Linda, I rejoined SW this week at 22st 9.5lb (I started WW at 24st last year and switched to SW this week) I'm feeling the same, it is a struggle, but it will get easier. x

I'm going to use my 10% as my first mini goal (20st 5lb) and getting under 20st as my first big target, I really want to be in the 'teens' again, but I've got lots of little mini-mini goals along the way, like BMI drops and I desperately want to get into the 21's asap.

What about you? x

Oh, and I've just joined the 50lb Summer Challenge (just below this thread), although as I'm a late starter mine's the 42lb challenge, lol, why not join in and see if it helps to keep you motivated. :) x

Wow Tracy you look great well done with that strength and determination.. Look years younger and I can relate with illnesses and injuries.. My past posts explain if you're bored one day n wanna read lol ... :) and hip I know what you mean I've always been a maximum 19 something stone so when joined last week n saw was 20 st 1.5 pound was shocked.. But thankfully lost 2.5 pound and am in my safe teens.. My first goal is my club 10 too 18 st 1.5 meaning gotta lose 2 stone in total or 1 stone 11.5 now... I'm talking like in control n confident but believe me I'm far from that.. Will try find other thread you mentioned. x

Oh thank you, that's very kind. :) Well done on getting back into the teens - those small milestones are so important, aren't they? Like moving from one BMI band to another, going down the stone brackets etc. It's always best to have mini goals as well as your main target, it stops it feeling so daunting. You'll get that 2 stone off in no time - I found it surprising how quickly the time passes. :) xx

You're already in the 'teens', I'm very jealous! :D

That 2st (or 1st 11.5 as it is already!) will be off before you know it, and you'll be onto the next two, but I read a quote yesterday, "Don't let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in your way of your doing it, the time will pass anyway, we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use", I get so despondent sometimes thinking about how far I have to go and how long it'll take, so I'm keeping this in mind now. :)

You are sounding in control, and even if you don't feel it, fake it until it happens!

I've just read that it's your birthday on the 50lb summer challenge thread- so Happy Birthday to you! :candle1:

Hi Linda. I found WEMITT by reading your original post and how brilliant to find lots of other people in it for the long haul. I've got about 7.5 stone to lose. Not quite half my body weight but given I'm only 5' tall, every pound really shows up on me. I am finding it a struggle, no question and I do wonder sometimes if I'll ever be able to get used to not eating and drinking what I really enjoy. I'm a very keen home cook and as any chef will tell you - the two things you can't do without for good food is butter & cream and there lies my downfall. Along with cheese, chocolate and dry white wine I could easily live on just those things! I had not such a good week last week but I still managed to shift half a pound - I was convinced I'd gained but that kind of spurred me on - if I can still lose a bit by being a bit naughty - just think how much I could lose if I wasn't QUITE so naughty! I've given myself a good talking to and I realise I'm not going to change a lifetime's habits in just a few weeks - but I have made some positive changes and week by week I expect to be able to make some more. Being addicted to the Food & Drink channel and watching every cookery programme on TV doesn't help! I also find NOT having a target actually works better for me - I don't think time + weight loss is the right equation for me due to having around zero willpower. If I set myself a goal and then don't reach it, I just get miserable and then the comfort eating kicks in and it all goes downhill. I accept that there will be times when I will give in to temptation but that doesn't have to be 7 days a week. OK, have a couple of bad days and then just get back to your sensible eating plan, it's not going to happen overnight, we all know that. I have spinal stenosis and also a non-malignant tumour in the sole of my foot and I know my weight is contributing to the pain I suffer with, so less pain has got to be good. I've got less life in front of me than behind me and I'm damned if I going to spend it locked up like a hermit because my weight is beginning to give me mobility issues - plus I'm beginning to feel embarassed about going out anywhere. I now go and do my big shop in the middle of the night so there's less likelihood of bumping into anyone I know. How sad is that?

Hi ladybird pleasure to meet you and than you very much for sharing your story. I appreciate those struggles , my downfall is crisps and bread wether toasted or otherwise. Slimming world is the most natural of all eating plans And allows me as a vegetarian unlimited amounts if free foods which are pasta rice fruit veg including potatoes tofu quorn etc.. It just involves cooking and having been someone always living on convenience foods as student that's difficult. But I grew up in with Italian parents who were farmers so fresh produce and Italian home cooking using Above ingredients is innate .. I just became lazy and my mum bless her at over 70 and who still cooks and works albeit with Zimmerframe n stick n ill health ..puts me to shame cooking .. I very proud if her esp since my dad died so cruelly .. But I am ashamed of myself and ruining the precious life she gave me... Have to take this day to day.. Was my birthday weekend at mums so just let it be and today will be day one if this week for weigh in as week 2 thurs ... Good luck with you too hon and that great mindset you are in and thanks again x
