Motivation Techniques?

Hi all!

I'm not sure which forum I saw it in, but when I was looking around the forums I saw someone was putting buttons (and another marbles) in a jar to demonstrate their weight loss. What an awesome idea!

You count out as many as you need to lose and put them in one jar, then transfer it across one at a time for how many pounds you've lost. Great for if you're a visual person as you get a huge idea how much you're losing.

I'm 'giving' myself a pound in money for every pound of weight I lose and saving it in a money tin. I figure as I've got almost 210lb to lose - why not save myself up that sort of money so when I get to where I'm happy then I've got at least £210 to buy new clothes with rather than it being a huge hit all at once. I'm also considering giving myself an extra treat like putting an extra fiver in for each stone if I can to add an extra £75 (or more if I can do it!) to the pot.

Does anyone else have any other little treats or techniques they're using to oil their way? :)

I have seen stuff like that on ********* :) I think it is a great idea. I think what has put me off is the idea of counting out 200+ things and only seeing a few in the other jar for ages. But I may think if a variation of doing it a stone at a time as I think my brain will cope with that better! Maybe I should get 3 jars and have 14 marbles in the first which I transfer into the second as each one goes. Then in the third for every stone I could put in something bigger? Hmm going to think about it...

I've hung up a huge wall calendar and I put crosses in every day I go to the gym and eat healthy. It's a "feel good" motivation technique and basically I challenge myself not to break the chain of X's!

I buy myself non food treats every stone, particularly handbags and I can't have it until I achieve my mini goal. I think ill want a unicorn if I ever get to target, lol

i love the dried food donation very good idea x

The food idea is great, but I want a record at home I can see, and give to the food bank anyway so I'm going to go with a pound coin in a jar for every pound I lose - great ideas here, thanks.
