100lbs in 6 months!

Hey guys!

My name is Ashton, and I'm new to the forum, but old to weight loss.

I'm a 21 year old kid and I've been trying to lose weight for a long time now but haven't had any long term success.

Just a couple of months ago I weighed myself and I was the heaviest I've been in a long time, which was really sad, but also the motivation I needed to get right back into the gym and start losing weight - this time FOR GOOD!

I actually started a weight loss blog and challenged myself openly online to lose 100lbs in 6 months, and started off really well, but unfortunately in the last few weeks have lost some momentum and motivation to even get my sneakers on...

That's when I started having a read on this forum and lots of others, and seeing so many people out there doing it just like I am, which was what I needed to get me going again!

Right now I'm 21 pounds down, 79 to go!

So I just wanted to say hi and hope to see everyone around :)

Hi Ashton, welcome and well done on getting re-motivated!

You might want to say hi to the peeps on the Atkins forum too, they are also lovely and there's lots of links to recipes, etc.

welcome ashton
to the forum x x x

Welcome and good luck! That's a hell of a big target, fingers crossed for you! You can do it! xx

Not trying to be negative, but ...
100lbs in six months sounds like too much, too quick. I'm sure it's achievable, but is it a good idea?
100lbs in 9-12 months sounds more sensible and sustainable.

Yes, it is too much really - losing it so quickly isn't medically recommended, plus it's more likely to result in large amounts of excess skin which no amount of exercise will shift, one of the big drawbacks of rapid weight loss. A figure of 50lbs would be far more sensible to go for. Good luck!

Welcome Ashton, good luck on your journey :) I would break up the 100lbs you want to lose into chunks and give yourself a longer time. It's taken me a year to lose 100lb, im sure you will do brilliantly.
