10+Stone to lose

Hey guys, - I just posted this in strugglers/restarters but then came across this little section which I think will be right down my track!

I finally decided to bite the bullet and get back on track and start with Slimming world once again.
I have been through a lot the past 6 months, I had a little boy in november, had mild postnatal depression and then moved to The Netherlands from London at the end of February. You could say my life has completely changed.

The first few months of being here I missed my family terribly, I had no friends and I would just lock myself in all day whilst even being too scared to answer the doorbell.

I decided to get on the scales to see if there had been any damage and I had put on nearly 3 stone since moving here in February.
I was horrified. I had never ever weighed that much and I felt myself die a little inside. But that was it, enough was enough, I really had to do something - my son is nearly 7 months old now and he will be moving soon - how am I supposed to keep up with him if i'm so overweight?
We live on the 3rd floor in an apartment block with no lift, those stairs are my enemy at the moment!

Since starting Slimming world, now at home, I have found it quite hard, I think it's because I lack the motivation of going to group each week to weigh in and I have to self-discipline myself.

Anyway, i'm finding it really hard, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance.

Hi hon,

I am fairly new to this section myself :) some real lovelies here, so just jump right in.

Its so hard moving to a different country, I moved here from South Africa. It gets easier, but you shouldn't hide yourself away no matter how hard it is, it will only get harder if you stay locked away. Holland is a lovely place, so try to enjoy it :)

Those stairs... keep it up and you'll soon be racing your little one to the top! Going it alone without a group can be tough - I find minimins helps a lot with that.

Well done and good luck to you x

Hi lovelies,

I can't imagine moving to another country and trying to settle in - well done for coming so far!

We're glad to have you posting here too :D We're all in the same boat, we're all in it together so please get stuck in! :)

Hello Jeszee :wavey:

Dropping in to subscribe! Thanks for reading my thread, too.

I think those stairs might be useful, you know. I live on the second floor and I've noticed how much easier it's become to get up them as I've lost a bit of weight. I also walk to and from bus stops to get to work (to the bus stop, then from the end stop to the office and back again at the end of the day) and it's about 2 miles a day. I used to sweat doing it even in the colder weather but I don't anymore. Little thing like that spur me on.

popping by to subscribe.

I left the uk in 2002 and moved to ireland so i know how hard it is to be away from all your friends and family. I also suffered from postnatal depression which turned into full blown depression and panic attacks and thats when my weight went out of control. Its nice to find a group of people the same as me :D Good luck with your weight loss journey. x

hi jesze
how are you hun x

It's definitely the hardest step to admit you want to change and seriously looking at ways to do it. You can do it :)

Hope you're doing well today love x

Hey guys :)
I had a pretty crap weekend - but to be honest I don't think I was headstrong enough and mentally let myself down.

However, I am back on track this morning and rearing to go! Must drink more water....

Ah, today is a new day. Don't worry about the blips - new week new start :)

thats it new week love new start:)

i agree rach on that

Completely! I used to be a dweller and that got me nowhere, in fact it made me put on more weight!
I am proud of myself for putting my foot down and actually getting on with things for once!

That's the way to do it :)

My mum would worry if she had nothing to worry about - all it's done is added to her stress and made her poorlier. (and in your case, added to your weight) and it increases the need for comfort food which is an awful habit to break.

You can do it, love! And we're here to help :)

here here girls xx x
