    Porridge question!

I love the sweet porridge. I make it with double the amount of water then thicken it up with a spoonful of psyllium husks. That makes a good sized portion, very filling and also provides fibre!! I sprinkle cinnamon on top and have it withor without milk. Great way to start the day and I am not...

Well things going slower than planned. I have had an event every week which involved eating and drinking! Decided that I do not want my life to go on hold so just having a day off as required. In 7 weeks I have lost 17lbs which is not great for a vlcd but fine considering the distractions...

    days off/special occasions

    I need an intervention!

You can do this. Stop being so hard on yourself, you have had a lot to deal with. Stop and think - what works for you? Are you more likely to be hungry if you have 'breakfast' or if you fast? Everyone is different so you need to think what works for you!!! Most important - you need to look...

    Toilet problem,HELP!!!!!!!

Hi - most of us who have done SS have had to deal with this!! You need to deal with the constipation first - movicol is excellent so I would try that asap. Next you need to ensure that you add fibre to your diet so you don't get this problem. Try the fibre supplement you can buy fron CDC or...

How do you tell people your on a vlcd

I always find that it's better to tell people cos you run out of excuses not to eat. If friends suggest meeting for lunch I say great but can we make it coffeee because I'm on a diet. I tell people that I am on a strict diet which is all meal replacements - a bit like slimfast (most people have...

How would you work round this??

    so constipated!!

I had this problem when fist on CD. Someone recommended Movicol - buy from chemist. It was great - sends fluid to 'blockage' to soften it so it's easier to pass. After you get things moving you really need to introduce fibre to your diet to avoid this happening - fibre sure or fibre 89 or...

    VLCD online vs consultants

Just put it out of your head - if giving up the bar will make you feel better then do that - otherwise I'd just carry on as before! I always found that i could pop out of diet for an event then back in next day. Takes willpower but I always had it clear in my head that the next day was straight back on diet. Oh poor you - been there !!! First you really need to deal with the current problem - passing a brick is hell. There's stuff on sale at chemists etc to 'soften' stools - better than a laxative that just spasms your bowel into action BUT doesn't really help with the task of getting it out...

    i want to die...

I find that half teaspoon flavouring in 1 pint of water is fine for jelly. Use colouring if you want to. The jelly is just something to eat and counts as water !!! I also make trifle with mousse and jelly and that is only one sachet but easily two meals !
  93. A

    i want to die...

Mix a mousse is expensive - buy supercook gelatine (costs 50p for 6 sachets!). The water flavouring lasts for ages and if you are making jelly food colouring is good to have.

    New Dieter!

Hi, You will be amazed at how fast you lose weight. I'd think you would lose at least half a stone in two weeks. Stick with it - the headache will go and in 2 - 3 days you will feel FANTASTIC!
  122. A

    CD whilst on holiday

Personally - I'd have the holiday with food but be sensible (lots of fruit, veg, white meat, fish etc). My CDC gave me great down to earth advice when I started. Mix a mousse - What did I do wrong?

Yep - 500mls water and 2 scoops of mix a mousse with 1 teaspoon of flavouring works for me. When you blend it some of the mix a mousse might stick to sides so scrape it off and whizz again. I put water in freezer for 30 mins if I want to make mousse but didn't need to for the jelly!
  146. A

    Not eating all my sachets

I found that my tastes keep changing too - or maybe we just get sick of samethings! Try to vary it a bit and go with what your body is asking for. I'd be wary about not having all the CD requirements. There's no point in getting slim AND being ill !!!!!!

  154. A

    Weight Watchers Advert

Yes - isn't it just awful. I hate the one where a female says "She has her meat and potatoes and vegetables just like the rest of us"..... How patronising is that - you'd think 'she' had become BRAIN DEAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Babs, We are about the same then - I'm 14st9lbs just now and want to get to between 10 and 11 stone.
  157. A

i should be happy but am not

Hi Stacey, I think that's the problem with CD - we expect mega losses every week ! 3 lbs is great -and 7 ins WOW. Be patient and you'll see a pattern emerging. My CDC says that often people lose in 2 week cycles and I've found that happens to me. I might lose 1 -2 lbs one week then 6 lbs the next!
  158. A

should you SS when you have a tummy bug ?

Drinking lots of water will help. I tend to stop solids if I have a tummy bug and just drink loads for a day or two. Really depends how bad it is and how it usually affects you!

    I'm new....

Hi Mia, Welcome. It gets easier after the first couple of days. I'd advise to keep really busy first couple of days - not difficult with a baby. Long walks with the buggy???

Definitely take Movicol to 'get things moving'! BUT You need to address the underlying problem which is lack of fibre in your diet. If you don't then you'll keep on taking laxatives and your bowels will get even more lazy. You'll get piles, pain etc I'd recommend psyllium husks - taken every...
