Sorry you're poorly bubble. Get well soon. 4.5miles in a morning? I must have mine set up wrong, it says 9260 steps (have been on my feet for about 12 hrs!), but 3.92 miles. Is it wrong or do you run all morning in your job? :) x

    Bloating while following SW !

Oh hun, I have IBS too so I sympathise! Changing diet can really mess things up, can't it? Wish there was a cure. My OH can eat anything he likes and be fine. So jealous! Glad you're feeling better :-) x

    Bloating while following SW !

Come to think of it, and forgive me if this is nothing new :-) but.. ... if you've switched from calorie counting to SW you've no doubt identified foods that are relatively high calorie and were restricted but now are "free" and it's easy to up the portion sizes if they are allowed freely...
  11. mumpsimus

    Bloating while following SW !

Yes, I did at first, too. I think it's very common. It took about a week to settle down and SO much better when I cut out the pasta and bread. Broccolli, too, though I do love it so still cook it :) How are you feeling now? x

    Vodka

Seriously though. Personally, I don't syn it but also limit my daily syns to about 3 or 4 (sugar in coffee). I also make sure I don't eat anything while drinking but drink lots of water. Whatever works for you. I do see bigger losses on low alcohol weeks but I suspect it's due to hangover food.
  38. mumpsimus

    Vodka

Alcohol is not in my vodkabulary. However, I looked it up on whiskeypedia and learned if you drink too much of it, it's likely tequilya. :)

Are you starting SW today? I was a sugarholic, big time! I cut it mostly out and it's fine. I won't have sweetener, so not getting the fake sugar hit. I do still have a spoonful in my coffees though. When I get that blood sugar low (usually at work because I can't snack!), I reach for some...

    Segregated groups

100% agree! In answer to the OP, I can't imagine why men would want to be segregated but if it floats their boat, why not? Personally it wouldn't matter if my group were men, women or somewhere in the middle as long as they were nice. Welcome and respect all, I say.

Extra Easy The undesirable consequences of weightloss!

I have plenty of loose skin too, have done for about 10 years. Yes, it gets me down but I've just learned to live with it (and the stares). My friend had a tummy tuck in Prague last year and it was much cheaper than the UK. She is very happy and has a flat tum.

Extra Easy Week one and 1lb gain :(

When you say a week of not dieting - was it normal eating or eating a lot? If you over ate the week before your first week it could be those calories showing now. I binged on curry and beer the night before starting and only had a small loss in week 1. I have to echo the don't weight thing...

  102. mumpsimus

How much weight did people lose before they starting going down in dress sizes?

N That's very interesting! Never thought of that before. In answer to OP's question, I think it depends on what size you are to begin with too. I'm about 1.5 st between size 20-22 but 0.5st between size 10-12.

They look pretty industrial and they must be calibrated often. My scales at home have matched the ones at group EXACTLY every week so far. Down to the nearest half pound. I weigh myself at home 15 minutes before I weigh at group. Digital scales, hard floor, plenty of life in the batteries...

I totally get where you're coming from. Diets in the past have yielded a 2lb loss per week on average yet SW is not getting anywhere near the same results. 125. mumpsimus

It's making me feel ill :(

Are you me? lol. I totally identify with the ocd counting on WW and the IBS flare-ups on SW. I'm finding simethicone quite useful atm, and making sure there is ALWAYS a snack to hand because an empty stomach is fatal. Not raw veg though, that makes it worse. Hope you find some relief.
  126. mumpsimus

    How many syns to have

My consultant says have all 15 and don't worry about it. Given that each syn is worth 20 calories, there's only 200 calories difference between having 5 or 15 syns per day. Over a week - 1400. Given that to lose a pound of fat in a week they say you need to cut calories by 3500, it doesn't make...
