Flying soon - too fat - re-assuarance needed

I've no experience of flying, so can't add anything there...but I just wanted to ask you NOT to hang your head in shame. You have LOST an enormous amount of weight, and have everything to be proud of! I bet you wouldn't have booked this holiday if you were still 3.5 stone heavier, would you...

Extra Easy Putting on weight occasionally

Yup, my thoughts exactly. And I didn't say I was counting calories - I was looking for answers. When you are on plan for three years, and 'only' lose three and a half stone, regardless of following all the hints and tips you can; and then increase your activity three fold, and spend six...

Green Days Can veggies really lose weight on SW?

Are you doing green or EE? Are you keeping food diaries? Are you double checking the syns of things - they get updated all the time? Are you eating enough, or are you feeling like you're on a diet? Tell us a little more, and I'm sure we can help :)

charged for missed week due to hospital oppointment

Could it be possible that the consultant doesn't know what happened at the pay? By rights, as you'd informed her, it would have been easier all round if she'd added a note to the pay system, to flash up for the member of the social team, OKing them to use the 'hospitalisation/sickness' over...

Exercise - chore or enjoyable activity?

I do quite alot of exercise. I walk heaps (5 or more miles most days, but also very long distance stints - 24 miles is the furthest I've done in a oner), but I also go to the gym, use the wii, zumba classes, cycling, aerobics classes, swim, water aerobics and have finally started step classes...

My C finally gave me FF after over a year of minimal losses (Sometimes not even half a pound in a month) - one look had me researching Success Express (which I'd never been told about), and following that for a couple of weeks. Original What do you do ? ?

That's what I would do, too, although I've read on here about someone who pulls a chunk out of the middle of the roll to get it to the right weight and save syns. Actually quite a good idea, as it's not like we'd miss it :)

15 1/2 pound lost in 1 week by 1 person alone.

Diet Geezer is doing SW-ish, but last time I looked he was still having tons of syns, and loads of extra HEs (so even MORE syns). He seemed to be loosley following the SW model, but I'd hardly highlight him as a role model. Bloody good on him - he said himself when his losses slowed he would...

Fish & chips- which plan? Help!

For one day, one meal, I'd stay on EE so the syns are as small as possible, and make up the SF over the course of the day by having plenty fruit and veg. You don't HAVE to have 1/3 SF at each meal, although that will boost losses more x

    Success Express

That's right :) They USED to be called 'superfree', as did anything else that was free on red and green, but since the introduction of extra easy, ONLY the fruit & veg that's free on both plans is now classed as 'super free'.

  44. mojomcl

    Success Express

@ x Alex x That was correct pre-EE days, but the only things that are superfree now (on any plan), are fruit and most veg. I do wish SW wouldn't recycle terminology, and that they'd make bigger differences between the different terms (SF/SS for example).

Yup, you're spot on :) Have you played around with making your own using pasatta as a base yet? Mucho yummy, free, superfree, and speed!

Extra Easy Going Back for More ??

ah, good point Coljack. I was just assuming the cottage pie was SW friendly and free in the fist place. Good thinking - just shows how easy it is to set someone off on the wrong track, with only good intentions :-S

Extra Easy Going Back for More ??

Yup, free is free, it's there to be eaten :)

Syn free condiments - if there is such a thing

I've seen a few recipes, but not tried any as they look very faffy. Personally I use pasatta, and add balsamic, sweetner, a teensy bit garlic powder, soy and woucestershire sauce, tweaking the amounts until it tastes right. Give it a good shake and keep in the fridge. I used this for a couple...

Lets give this whole diary thing a bash then

awwww Theresa, I feel a bit odd about reading something called a 'diary', but I am, so there. What a journey, huh? And just yesterday and today's entries show what a life changing one it has been (is being). Anyhoo. YOU'RE IN THE 12ssssss!! YOU ARE IN THE TWELVE STONE BRACKET. 12, 12...

Help! Anyone else gained while sticking to plan but doing mainly Extra easy days?

Uh huh. I think this has happened to most of us at some point or another. VERY frustrating when you KNOW you're on plan. I gained at every WI throughout November, despite having a really good food month, and walking around 25 miles a week extra (on top of my usual 30ish). Sometimes these...

Something to worry about or fairly normal

lol I used to try and hide the cover/spin of my 'Free Branded Foods' and 'Low Syn snacks' books - now I just whip 'em out for all to see! lol Those books have helped me lose a ton of weight, wtf would I want to hide them?! lol

Frequently asked syn values! Pasta 'n' Sauce? - find it here!

We touched on this recently at class, as we were discussing the Marshall's Cheesy Pasta. Pasta 'n' Sauces are still free/low syn at the moment, but should they resubmit them for re-synning (if there's a pack size/ingredients change) then they are going to be synned, as they will now HAVE to be...

    Don't you just hate it..........

I can't say I'm anywhere near someone saying that, but I do hear it said. The two things I keep in mind are that a) the person may have already lost 10 stone, and that's WHY they look great, and b) the struggle that one of our slimmest, most beautiful members has, trying to shed a few pounds...

Aww, poor you. There can be loads of things that can have this effect :( As we don't know what you've eaten, your best bet is to discuss this with your consultant (they do ask that you keep a paper diary for the first four weeks, so that they can help with this exact thing :)) Hopefully you...

'It's not going to work unless you're hungry' - anyone else heard similar?!

Interesting point of view, huh? I just grit my teeth at the usual 'you'll never lose weight eating all that pasta/rice/potato' etc; the baker's thinking I'm greedy cos I always have 2 eggs on my brown roll - but they puzzle over my slow but steady weight loss lol Oh, and of course, the 'I never...

    corn on the cob????

ho hum. Each to their own. Personally I like to address the OP's query when I'm using forums, rather than apprise others on similar points. But I too am always eager to learn. Which is why I'll stick to answering questions, where I feel fit to :)

    corn on the cob????

Funny, I was thinking the same ; )
  138. mojomcl

    corn on the cob????

OK, fair enough, I was only supposing! lol The question wasn't whether it was superfree, but whether it was free on red (which I know boils down to the same thing). No need to get excited. I'll try to stick to single word answers next time.
  139. mojomcl

    corn on the cob????

I would think it's more to do with the fact that you eat it in it's entirety? So much more fibre?

Christ knows what normal is, but you sounds much the same as me - and I'm three years in! lol As far as I know I'm mentally sound, and free from any recognised eating disorder, but for many, many years I had no interest in food, and used it purely as a fuel. SW has totally changed that for me...
  144. mojomcl

    corn on the cob????

Baby corn on the cob is, but I don't think normal sized is? Doubt it, baby corn probably is cos you eat the whole thing, corn on the cob is just the same as eating sweetcorn.

    Taster evenings!

Coljack, we often have slow cookers at ours :0) I work full time too, often getting home from 20 miles away at 7, with class at 7.30 but always chuck something together the night before, sometimes warming it up in the on site oven :) I love our taster nights :) I'm also veggie, and feel bad...

Extra Easy Would you consider this off plan?

I don't think it's off plan hun. it's just not an optimim way of food optimising ;) I reckon if you're over your 1/3 over the day, you ARE following the 1/3 rule, just perhaps not as stringently as you'd like. Days I fancy stodge, I'm all about tatties and pasta n sauces. I still regard...

    Veggie- green or extra easy?

There doesn't have to be a huge difference, to be honest. For EE you only get 1HEa and 1HEb, but, then, alot of what you might use as a HE are free on EE anyway (fish, meat). On EE you're strongly advised to have 1/3 superfree (so that's not potato, parsnip, sweetcorn, peas, beans....). I...

"I was told that if you don't have the full amount it doesn't count as a HEx." Well, that's not what my books OR my C says. Of course, our efforts to eat a full, balanced diet, SW would PREFER that we use our full allocation of HEs, but there is NO requirement to syn the 'leftovers' of you...

I think it's detrimental to think of yourself as being 'on plan' and 'off plan'. I've been 100% 'on plan' for three years. Luckily this plan allows me to choose my style of eating each day (green, EE, original) and let's me flexi syn in a controlled manner for special occasions. I honestly...

As above, I'd be very suspicious of anything that limited your fluid intake. And 7 times a day? mmm. Deffo not what SW promotes. COuld work though, I guess.
  203. mojomcl

    Non fruit and veg lovers

You can always get in loads of veg in stews and casseroles, as well as soups (seach for 12 speed foods soup) and sauces. If you're doing EE it's important to incoorporate 1/3 super free fruit/veg into your day.

BUt TVP & tofu etc are also free on green, so what's the difference/advantage for a vegan to do red? Only asking as I don't eat meat (I do eat fish once in a blue moon) and I've always assumed there'd be no point or way for me to do red?

The only low fat greek yogurt in the UK is Total 0%, all the others are greek 'style' yogurt, and imho not as nice, texture wise. I had to chuckle at you 'feeling special' btw! lol

    MullerLight Yoghurts are not...

1010, I didn't mean to offend, either. I genuinely assumed that folk who need to avoid certain things, for whatever reason, would be aware of the common 'hidden' areas. I stopped eating meat when I was 11, so it's always been a way of life for me - I was wrong to assume that it would be the...

    MullerLight Yoghurts are not...

Mullers have ALWAYS contained gelatine, that's what gives them that decadent texture. I would think the majority of vegetarians would know that there's gelatine in tons of yogurts, as would practising Muslims? It seems to shock meat eaters more than it does non meat eaters, for some reason!? lol

    Measuring spoons

I'm EXACTLY the same as you, OP! After a looonnggg run of STS I religously measured everything. Sauces, milk, the lot...and I found that I use WAY less when I'm guesstimating than I actually allow for. So where I'd be counting 1 syns for a wee dollop of sauce, it's only more like half a syn...

    Difference between book

How odd? My class only went electronic 2/3 weeks ago, but I'm unaware of any link between the E system and our 'your journey'. I mean, if I'm totally honest, I had a 'your journey' long before I joined a class, so there can't be a link, or they'd have known I shouldn't be ther ;)

    Abusing free foods

I am, of course, aware of this. However, in the realms of SW 'food abuse' is generally used to describe using foods in a way they aren't really intended to be eaten. Like chickpea / cous cous cake, lasagne crisps, etc. But opting for free / superfree foods to fill you up - even if you are...

    A few luch lifesavers

The syn value was the very first thing on the OP!? lol And red/green must work out the same because of the prawns (not free on green) and noodles (not free on red) xx

    Abusing free foods

Personally I eat pasta and or potatoes every single day, without fail. Free means free...using free foods to fill you isn't food abuse, it's SW! lol As above, make sure you get your 1/3 SF and you'll be grand x

Has anyone ever done Body Pump and still lost weight?

Oh yeah, good point! lol I forgot how sore it was after the first couple of sessions :) But even though you'll struggle to squat for a pee, and stairs will almost kill you - you'll still feel quite proud of WHY you're aching like that! lol

oooo a change on the user cp....fab!!

Has anyone ever done Body Pump and still lost weight?

Most of it's standing, other than benchwork, but you get to shake it out and stand up leisurely. And towards the end there's a bit on the floor, but, again, you can do it at your own pace, and there's no hurry to get back up, there's a pause before the next set(s) x

Green Days to cook or not to cook

lesserme-I did answer you on another thread, the one where you've C&P'd my words "A tin of Asda's chickpea dahl, a pack of mild curry rice, mix it all together and bind with a couple of eggs. Whack in a loaf tin and bake until golden. Serve hot or cold for a scrummy treat". If cooking it for...

Has anyone ever done Body Pump and still lost weight?

Body Pump is AMAZING. I haven't been for a couple of weeks, but when I started I noticed my legs went from chubby to AMAZINGLY toned withing about 8-10 sessions - to the point that I didn't recognice them when I caught the reflection on windows! lol THAT extreme. I'm wearing skirts and shorts...

    Asda chick pea dahl anyone?

    flexi syns, or weekly syns?

What you're doing is clearly working for you - congrats on your fab loss :) If it aint broke, don't fix it. But if your losses slow right down (which they will do after a while), then try it the 'daily' way.
