    Deflating the Bouncy Castle

Hi Spangles, Have just read your entire diary, whilst using CD as an excuse to be on the sofa under a blanket for most of the day. I hope you don't mind me posting this, but it may help you, and if not, someone else who reads it. I did CD 5 years ago. I didn't find it horrific at the time as...

    Cambridge or Atkins?!!

Bubbles, I could cry reading your post, it might as well be my story almost word-for-word. Cambridge made me soooo much worse. It made my binge eating insane. For me, exercise negates some of the stress that would normally make me overeat and Atkins stops the cravings caused when I eat carbs.

    Nelly's on a mission

Hi, No problem, I see how much better my boyfriend is and it is all due to our own research and hard work. I'm not discounting his consultant, but medication is just not an option, due to the high cancer risk. I must admit I hate normal saunas as they make me really uncomfortable, but I love...

    Nelly's on a mission

Just wanted to say that there are a fair few things that help arthritis - low carb definitely being one. My bf has ankylosing spondylitis (non-curable arthritis which makes your bones fuse together) which is pretty horrific and, on diagnosis, felt like a bit of a life-sentence! However, after...

    Jim - prawn curry

Thanks Jim, will have a go. Just one more question (promise!) when you have steamed kale, cabbage and leeks etc do you ever have sauce or butter with them? If not how do you get enough fat?

    Jim - prawn curry

Hi Jim, Saw in another thread that you are eating prawn curry. Do you make it the same as your other curry (details in the recipe thread) or is it different? Don't eat meat, just started eating fish so would be good to make. Thanks in advance! Maxie

Just Feel Like A Minor Grumble!

As someone who is currently on only 4 chocolate tetras a day (and I don't have a very sweet tooth) I can't believe anyone loves them ;) I totally agree about tofu - it's awful. Although I will attempt the silken tofu in a shake in the future. Another idea is avocado in shakes to increase...

Just Feel Like A Minor Grumble!

Hi Girly, Am just finishing on Cambridge before converting to Atkins. The tetras are 7carbs per shake but the bars (don't have any to hand) are about 15! linda's weight loss journey im bac

    Setting a goal

The problem with calculating your BMI is that it takes no account of either your body shape or muscle mass. URGENT help on net carbs plse

100g Quorn mince is 4.5g carb, so not too bad as it does swell considerably so you don't need loads. Sadly more than meat. I guess the thing with Quorn is that there are about 100 products so not just purely mushroom protein, all sorts of other stuff added in which then increases the carbs. :(

Hi, Does anyone have any tried and tested Atkins friendly cookbooks they use a lot? I'm pretty uncreative so recommendations would be a big help. Maxie

So You're Thinking Of Starting Atkins

Thank you both, much appreciated. My boyfriend is on a starch-free diet, due to a medical condition, which is not a million miles from Atkins, so it should be ok if I can sort the meat thing :o)

So You're Thinking Of Starting Atkins

Hi, Thinking about starting Atkins, but am veggie - would it be very difficult? Am at a loss as what to do. Am a chronic over-eater and former bullimic (albeit with exercise and not vomiting). Have lost desired amount on Lighter Life but have put it all back on. I know carbs (bread etc) are...

Feeling guilty about losing weight like this

This may sound very odd and I am not in any way meaning to belittle anyone else. I have lost 6 stone on a combination of LL and CD. I have a bit of an addictive personality I guess and am very 'all or nothing'. Although at times the diet was hard, for a few reasons (i don't have a family to...

    Maintenance Book

Hi all, Thanks for links and offer to post more info. Cambridge maintenance is really concerned with calories and is actually having quite a negative effect emotionally so I much prefer the LL option. Also, as a veggie with some food intolerances, I'm finding it very restrictive, to the point...

    Maintenance Book

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help. I started LL in January but my cllr quit at short notice and I've had to change to CD as there were no other LL cllrs in my area. However, I'm not too keen on the CD maintenance system (I'm now almost at goal!) as it uses calories and I would prefer to...

Question for my friend who is 5'10"

Hi, I'm just under 5'10" and I have four packs a day. I was never given a choice. However, on the occasions where I've had 3 (stayed away from home and forgotten packs) I've felt rubbish the next day, really headachey and lethargic. I've lost over 4 stone in 3 1/2 months and am now on...

No more husband and so tired of the diet now help please!!!

Hi Naomi, Am in a very similar situation to you. For me, the stablity of SSing has actually helped. I guess short term stress makes me really not want to eat so it's not a problem. I have started adding food this week (for the first time since January) and think it's quite a good time for me...

    Add a meal

I'm on AAM after being on SS since Jan (changed from LL so this is the first I've eaten) and am using it as the stabilisation plan. Can you eat chilli? All I thought you could eat add was herbs or a little stock and black pepper? I love chilli so would be very pleased if I could add it!!

Hi, You probably don't remember replying to my thread on the LL board back in January, but I posted asking how many people are successful on VLCDs and whether it was worth a go. Since then, I have lost over 4 stone, initially through LL and then on CD. I have approx half a stone left to lose...
