Any Slimming World Vegans Out There?

I really like Chocolate Oatly. I'm not sure what the plain milk is like but I would give it a go. Always needs a good shake before because it separates easily!

Any Slimming World Vegans Out There?

I second the roasted chickpeas! Also - the falafel recipe in the Green SW book is easy to veganise with egg replacer. These make great snacks, especially with a syn free dip, like hummus. I do struggle with snack ideas myself sometimes. At the moment I am eating lots of fresh peas straight...

any tips for an (almost) vegan?? :))

I'm a vegan and I find the green plan pretty easy. One thing I find the most useful is where you would normally use fromage frais yoghurt or quark to make something creamy, you can use bended silken tofu instead. It does the job really well!

    The Sinful Vegan

Hello, another vegan here! :) I have the Ms Cupcake Book. It's awesome, but definitely not much use for following SW! I love tofu scramble. Vegan Brunch by Isa Chandra Moskowitz has a really good basic recipe I use, just without the oil. It uses thyme, cumin, tumeric and nutritional yeast...

Any Slimming World Vegans Out There?

Hi Claire, I'm vegan too and think it works very well with SW! I tend to do green days though as it makes my life much easier, and means you can have things like nuts and seeds for your healthy extras which I find just help to make things more interesting. A good book if you haven't got it is...

    Banana query, again.

It's a bit of a fuzzy distinction isn't it! The bananas aren't mashed or pureed or cooked so that they lose their form, so I would say free too. I always apply the same for grilled pineapple :)

Free food - do you have to limit yours?

how can anyone ever eat out if we cant save syns?

Flexible syns are for when you know you wont be able to or will struggle to stay within your 5-15 syns for a day. You basically think about what you're going to be eating/drinking and how many syns you might need. You allow yourself those extra syns, but most importantly you must keep...

how can anyone ever eat out if we cant save syns?

No worries! I think the idea behind it is that it encourages sensible and sustainable eating, and discourages treat-binge type behaviour. I think it works pretty well. I was successful with SW a number of years ago and while saving syns was helpful in some ways, in others it wasn't. I used...
  20. A

how can anyone ever eat out if we cant save syns?

Slimming World no longer advise you that you can save your syns. Instead they tell you to have 5-15 each day and for times when you will struggle with this to use flexible syns. I don't think that any consultant telling you otherwise is giving you the official information.

    sw without sweetener/frylight

Anna is right - there is nothing 'bad' in FryLight. Green Days People who only do green..

Interesting, my consultant was saying in group this week that SW were now saying the 1/3 super free rule was actually strong guidance, and that if you find yourself in a situation where sticking to it would be very hard or impossible then it's not the end of the world.

Green Days People who only do green..

You can have one OR two A choices on the green plan. Also the guidance about 1/3 super free doesn't apply, though it's always a good idea. Years back before EE I would always do green days. I lost weight very well and always felt more full than I ever did on an original day, and I really ate...

    Soup 8 syns - Coke 7 syns -????

It's to do with how filling the food is for the calories. Free foods are within a certain limit for energy density - that is they will fill you up for less calories. So for 200 kcal of ministrone soup, you wont feel as full as eating 200kcal of any free food. It's not purely about number of...

    The science?

Basically, it's down to how much satiety and satiation you get for the energy content of the food. So for example 200 kcal of pasta will fill you up a whole lot more than 200kcal of bread. Essentially, by making these foods free, and restricting more energy-dense, less filling foods you...

It's essentially Baked Potatoes but I like to cut them in half, scoop out the filling and mash with quark until creamy and add, cooked, onions, sweetcorn, quorn sausage, bacon, or whatever I fancy (or have to hand) in it and I'll use any Cheese Healthy Extras I have, mixing some in and...

Does Asda do extra lean lamb mince?

I used to brown off my mince seperately and drain off the huge amounts of fat that would appear. Slightly naughtly but it never seemed to cause me any problems.

    Actifry?

I noticed that Amazon sell it for £130, and some of the Market Palce sellers even less too, I think it will go on my wish list, but I can't afford to splash out on one just yet!

    newbie

Hello! If you look online for Body Optimise, it's basically the online version of Slimming World, I think they have international food information too. The plan's probably changed an awful lot in 5 years, so you probably need fresh info!!

My Mum- I need your help, guys

I'm not surprised you feel upset, how awful! I guess it's true at the end of the day you can't make her do something she doesn't want to do, but have tried telling her what you have just written there? Does she realise how much she is hurting you as well as herself. Does she realise just how...

    Whats the average weight loss

I've seen people lost between a pound or two and right up to a stone and a half in their first week! But the high end is usually for people who have a lot of weight to lose. With Slimming World there are techniques you can use to boost your weight loss, it's pretty flexible, you need to...

Need to chuck out my scales!!

To cut a long story short, this year so far has beenkind of stressful. I seemed to have used that as an excuse when it comes to SW, which has left me feeling awful about myself, and culminated in my weighing in on Weds 1lb heavier than Jan when I joined. I had a fab day yesterday, stuck to the...

Does anyone else cheat after WI

I have done, using the fact it's late after group as an excuse! I have decided instead to treat myself to a nice steak if I need to make something quick from now on. Figured I'd probably spend similar money but wont be messing up the plan.

    Morrisons pasta in a mug

Slimming World don't take fibre into account with Syns. That is odd though, maybe worth running them all through the syn calculator with pasta for the free food allowance.

  132. A

What have you got for dinner tonight??

I had a luvverly Steak I deceided to treat myself with, and had with it a Baled Potato, Mushrooms, fried in Fry Light and a Big Mixed Salad with Salad Light Caesar dressing. Ooh, also some Jack Daniels BBQ Sauce, it was scrummy!

    Actifry?

I've seen people talk abou them a lot here, was wondering how you use them for Slimming World cooking? Do you add fry light or count syns in oil/use a healthy extra? I'm afraid this going to end up on my list of things I want but shouldn't be buying!! :sigh:

    Been thinking,thinkig,thinking.

If you are eating more with SW as compared to WW, which is likely, that might be why you aren't losing weight. I know this can happen when someone moves from a more restrictive eating plan to SW. You have to decided how you feel about losing more weight or not, but I would say stick with SW...

    SW when you are pregnant?

For the record, Slimming World is the only weight loss plan approved by the Royal College of Midwives. SW Chips - how do you get yours to go brown ?

I usually have mine in the oven for about 40 mins, maybe even a bit more, also make sure you are quite generous with the fry light, that seems to make a difference for me!
  142. A

    Healthy Extras - splitting them?

Yeah, it's fine to split Healthy Extras, but you need to make sure you have the right amount - your example would be two thirds over - a teaspoon is 5ml and a tablespoon is 15ml so you'd have to have 1.5 teaspoons of each :)

Struggling! Anyone want a diet buddy?

I have really struggled the past couple of weeks - work and loads of other stuff has been really stressful, haven't had time to get to group and I've lost the plot with SW and have probably undone all the good work I put in in the first couple of weeks. Anyone found they don't bother with bread anymore?

I don't eat much bread on SW, there's usually something I would much rather do with my Healthy Extras or Syns! I do keep a small loaf of wholemeal in the freezer though, when I get it I separate in to Healthy Extra portions, i.e. 2 slices and wrap them up individually so I can just grab the...

    extra easy plan?? menu help.

I think if a plan does or doesn't work for you it's a case of what you find easier to follow not how your body behaves with certain foods - all SW plans work through basic calorie control. Extra Easy in my opinion so far is excellent, works well for me, as I feel I am eating more normally than...

    Slimming World when pregnant?

  156. A

    Polenta dumplings

You aren't being a pain! :) You made me wonder after that, but the Merchant Gourmet one is definitely free. I think the ground refers to things like Rice - since you can get ground rice and rice flour. The dry polenta isn't ground as such. It's all a bit confusing really!
  157. A

    Polenta dumplings

I've just checked my book and it's definitely free! What you saw must be should count when you use it as a flour substitute. I didn't realise you could get a free ready made one they always used to be synned. I might have to get some, thanks!

    Polenta dumplings

The raw polenta/cornmeal is syn free unless it is used as a flour substitute, the ready made or 'block' polenta is not free, as I believe it contains oil and possibly other non free ingredients. You should be able to get the ground stuff in most supermarkets - either with the rice and pasta...

Hi and well done on getting through your first day :o) Your food looks good, but I would say that you are relying too much on your Healthy Extras and Syns, SW works best when you fill up with your free foods as your primary source of food, or even better, superfree foods! If you felt...

    Hello :o)

I just started Slimming World last week. I used to be a consultant myself so am not new to it, I've been under a lot of stress recently and have unfortunately put some weight back on so decided to go back to a group. My first weigh was good, I lost 3lbs :D Look forward to getting to know everyone.
