    Smart Points First week losses...?

Wow 12lb in 3 weeks...that's amazing! Well done!
  2. HellieCopter

    Update

It's pretty flexible. You get a daily points allowance but the list of no-points foods is massive (much more like the Slimming World free foods...but not the same!). You also earn fit points, which you can save or eat.

    Smart Points First week losses...?

Hey Julia! These boards are a lot quieter than they used to be but I'll keep checking in. Good luck with Smart Points. I'm finding it easy and flexible so far. I've been way under points by 5/6 each day so I need to try to eat a bit more! I'm sure you can do it by next July. I'm aiming for...

    Smart Points First week losses...?

Hello! I've just switched to WW as a new challenge. I like getting my head round something new, it really helps me to get in the zone. So...for a bit of motivation...tell me how you did in your first week and how you're getting on with WW so far? I have two stone to lose and would like to...

    Hello! Anyone reading this?

Hello! Nice to see another newbie I did my first fast day today and have been ok, amazingly. There's a lot of brilliant info on the official website and in their forums. Some people go crazy complicated but I'm doing the simple thing at first. - 500 cals (or less) twice a week - 1500-1800...

    Friday Weigh In's

I was delighted with 3 ½ off! Yay! However then I went on holiday to Barcelona so missed WI, then went to a WI today as I was working yesterday. 1 ½ on! Not too bad considering how much I ate and drank. I didn't hold back at all. Back on it today and aiming for 2 off next week :)

Activity Trackers - are they worth it?

Agree with that! My sister has an Aldi tracker, and always takes little steps...that's just her natural stride. We went for a walk together on holiday and she took about 1000 more steps than me! haha...I was quite annoyed! lol But, I do find the challenges fun, and motivating to take more steps...

Activity Trackers - are they worth it?

I have a fitbit Charge HR and I LOVE it. It definitely encourages me, and I do challenges with my colleagues during the working week, and friends at weekend. It's really motivating. Also a bit worrying when I've had a day at the office and I realise I've only done about 3000 steps by the time I...

Syns Managing Syns in a 'healthier' way...

This is a really interesting discussion and something I've thought about a lot too. When I first started back (post baby) I'd been doing clean eating/bodycoach/Harcombe and was virtually sugar free! I was very cautious about re-introducing sugar, especially in things like cereal bars and I...

EE - what do you have on a jacket potato?

What would we do without jacket potatoes?! Amazing. My ultimate comfort food is beans and cheese on a jacket. Chilli (meaty or bean are winners) and tuna sweetcorn may are close second. There are some great ideas here.

Yay, well done on your loss, that's great work! It's easy to get hung up on what the scales say, but our bodies don't know we're weighing them every week. They'll catch up if you're doing everything right. As others have said, it's possible not to eat enough and I'm really pleased you got...

New here & to sw & despondent

Your results aren't crap! You've only been doing it 2 weeks and you've lost 3 1/2 lbs. That's pretty good going in my book. There could be a few things going on here. 1) you could be a slow loser. This happens, I'm one of those. No matter what I do, I lose 1lb a week. But at least I lose! 2) you...

I've still not had any pastry! *success* No pie, no tart, no quiche, no croissants...people I've told mocked me for giving up something like that but when I explained that actually it meant quite a lot of things they realised it was more tricky than they thought! :)

    Pancakes

I had the normal egg-flour-milk (skimmed) ones...any idea what MFP entry to use for them? I'm not sure! I only have thin ones with lemon and sugar, not the thick american style. Haven't worked out the cals yet... I had 4!
  95. HellieCopter

Anyone else giving up something for Lent?

Starts today (Ash Wednesday) and ends at Easter. There are two ways of doing Lent as well - some say you fast for 40 days...which means having Sundays off! And others say you go straight through...which technically makes it 46 days. Depends on what you want to do, and whether you're religious...

Feeling much better thanks. Back on with it, good exercise class last night and so feeling more motivated again. It's a hard slog this weight loss thing isn't it?!

Anyone else giving up something for Lent?

I tried to give up alcohol in January and that lasted 2 weeks, so how I'll manage giving anything up until Easter, I don't know! I thought I might try giving up something that's bad but I don't actually eat a lot of, that way I might actually succeed at giving it up. So, after careful...

    How much liquid a day?

I used to be a demon water drinker but I'm a bit rubbish nowadays. I easily have a couple of large glasses, usually squash, but I'm now trying to increase that. I have herbal teas more often (I'm into peppermint tea and white tea at the moment) and I've just started trying the trick of drinking...

Oh good luck! A little bit of everything is so hard to resist...you just want to try it all! Loads of water and pop. Try to fill your plate with the lighter options - loads of leafy salad and veggies if there are any. Then just have small tasters of the other things that you want to try. Be...

    Exercise calories

Hello :) It's a tricky one. Some people do, some don't. There have been some interesting threads on here about it and useful info...the upshot of which is...try it out and see what works for you! There's no doubt that exercise is brilliant for you and will help you lose weight. Some people...

I didn't go to mine last night. I was exhausted! Feel quite bad for not going so will have to make it up with exercise the rest of the week. Nothing burns cals quite like it though. I'll have to have two or three runs to compensate lol!

Do you eat your exercise cals?

Just wondering! And if you do/don't what's the reason behind it? MFP encourages you to eat them, adding them onto your allowance. I don't really feel like I should but think it does give me a little leeway if I've gone over cals slightly. Also wondering if I'm actually eating too few cals...

Now it's gone more autumnal (proper October weather) it should be perfect. Who'd have thought it was BBQ at the weekend...

Extra Easy Completely new to slimming world help!!

Plenty of water, watch your portion sizes, lots of fruit/superfree foods... As others have said, sometimes it takes the body a bit of time to adjust to the new diet, especially if it's a drastic change in how you've been eating. Don't panic, stick with it and as long as you're following the plan...

Good luck for Saturday dress-trying girlies...don't worry, don't worry...you'll see that dress and get it on and you'll just LOVE it. It'll look amazing. AMAZING! Elle - you aren't huge. Bridal sizes are all skew-wiff compared with high street. And even if you go by the inches you're supposed...

How are you doing, Brides To Be?! Everyone mega-motivated because of their gorgeous frocks? I am going to Suzanne Neville in Wilmslow this week and I'm SO excited. Her gowns are spectacular (if somewhat expensive!!) and I'm quite hoping not to fall in love with any of them...but I bet I do! Lol! x

What shall I do with over-ripe bananas?!

LOL! I love it - thank you. I was amused that an ancient thread had resurfaced. Yes the bananas in question had gone, but I have since had many other over-ripe bananas, which have been made into a variety of things, from muffins to cakes, etc. Also, I now have a little baby and she can have very...

    does anyone shop at aldi?

I like their reduced fat cheese, their virtually fat free natural yoghurt not to mention all the cheap fruit and veg on their offers. Also I like their frozen lamb shanks - one in rosemary sauce and one in mint. I think the minted one is free (or used to be) and the other one isn't...or the...

    FernXx- Starting All Over Again.

Hey Fernie... Just wanted to say well done YOU!!! *hugs* You know - you shouldn't have had to start paying back at class? As a target member you can gain during pregnancy without having to pay, but then SW gives you 12 weeks to get back to within target range to stay a free member. That's what...

Hey DD - that's great going for a few weeks off! When's your date? BiggySmalls - I think inches are good but you're right about the fluctuations. I do think it helps doing your measurements but not as the main measure of weight loss - for the reasons you say! Do lbs as well as inches? As long...

Extra Easy New to this forum :) needing help/advise

It could be that you aren't eating enough. When we exercise a lot but restrict our food, the body sometimes thinks it needs to cling on to every calorie - you should be eating all your syns exercising at that rate. If you drink plenty of water it's unlikely to be water retention. The muscle/fat...

Anyone in the 10 stones trying to get into the 9's??!!

65 syns for the week might not be enough! I know I actually lose better when I eat all 105 rather than cut back. Like this week - pizza, curry, wine...and plenty of exercise too. Don't worry...you're 4 lbs away from the 9s...it won't take long! :D

Anyone in the 10 stones trying to get into the 9's??!!

    Not much to loose........

It took me a year to lose 2 stone. It was frustratingly slow progress! I just had to remember that it took a long time for it to creep on so I had to accept it was slow coming off too. I did a lot of 'challenges' to keep myself interested (speed food, new foods, water, etc.) and just took it a...

    Saving HEa's & b's??

Hmm...it's one of those tweaks of the plan. You could try it and see if you get away with it, but officially if you don't have it on the day, that's it...you lose it. But, if you're willing to experiment occasionally you could try it and see if it affects you!

Thanks Regfield...I do have porridge, just sometimes I hanker for something different/quicker! 9 Syns? Scandalous! 216. HellieCopter

    Saving HEa's & b's??

It's because your HEs are healthy extras, which means you need them daily for your health. So the A choices are for calcium and the B choices are for fibre, and you need these every day in your diet. Having a cheese binge on 4 days worth of A choices in one go isn't a good way to get your...

    Pregnancy and Slimming World

My tips would be not to stress about/focus on getting preggers whenever you get jiggy! Keep the focus on fun and boinking ;) Don't just do it round when you think you're ovulating, do it all month every 2-3 days. You often don't ovulate when you *should* so regular sessions will keep you in...

I think stretch marks are a tough call...if you're destined to get them, you will. Genetics and lots of water and fruit and veg are more responsible I think. Totally agree. Faking it is the fastest way to actually being it. I used to be a petrified, self-conscious wreck most of the time. Lowering target....

That rule's changed now! It used to be the case until quite recently, but now you may change your target to whatever you choose - it doesn't have to be 7lbs lower than your original target any more :) But as Julie says, it's worth discussing with your consultant anyway!

    Anyone like fresh pineapple?

You stick it in the top, adjusting the diameter of the ring size, then twizzle it round. Then you slice the slice! LOL...sorry that's not brilliantly explained but it's very neat and minimal waste :)

    Anyone like fresh pineapple?

I've got one too! Controversially, I don't love it...lol. I like it, but I find that there's a lot of waste with it. As it's not adjustable to the size of pineapple, if you get one of the extra large ones (as are on offer in the supermarkets at the moment!) then there's loads of juicy, tasty...
