    It kind of relies on "most" your excess calorie intake being from fat. In reality most of us are fat because we are carbo loading, not because we live of burgers and chips. If you eat loads of carbs I imagine it wouldn't work at all.

    I would say, don't be discouraged by slip ups in the first couple of weeks, it can be really hard to go from eating way over the recommended amount to being on a very calorie controlled diet. It definitely gets easier the more you do it, you just need to be prepared to give it time.

    I allow myself any food providing i don't eat over 1200 calories. i like sugar in my tea/coffee so i allow myself two drinks of that a day but take the calories in the sugar into account. so often people don't think to look at what they are drinking.
