To all men on CD/completed CD

I have to admit that I am a bit taken aback by some of the responses here. I could have sworn he asked about losing weight, not building muscle or losing inches. Unless I have it all wrong, in order to burn fat and lose weight you need to increase calorie expenditure above and beyond that...

To all men on CD/completed CD

Definitely within reach, in fact it may even be easy. Just drink the water as planned and add cardiovascular exercise, even if its just a long brisk walk. If you have access to a Gym or have the use of a stairmaster or rowing machine or cross trainer you can make a serious impact on the excess...

    Pysllium Husk

I buy it from Healthspan for £7. The 300g tub does last a long time as you really can't use too much of it at once...well you can use too much, but you wouldn't enjoy it and would quickly learn to use less. I use it in my shakes, blended in a proper blender with ice. I use about 1 heaped...

Anyone else not looking forward to food?.

I still haven't given any thought to setting my goal, so I don't know how far away from it I am. I know the CD plan is to increase calories on the various steps, but I am really not looking forward to that aspect of it, just seems like too much hassle. I may decide to switch to another plan...

Anyone else not looking forward to food?.

I mean when the dieting is over and you are back on regular food. I find the shakes so easy, nothing to measure, nothing to plan, nothing to think about, no worries about inappropriate portions or foods, just mix, drink and get on with life.

    CAN WE USE FLAVOURING ?

I regularly use imitation Almond and imitation Vanilla flavourings in my shakes. The imitation rum flavour is a bit naff so I binned the rest of the bottle. The imitation stuff is nothing more than Isopropryl alcohol and chemicals formulated to taste so can't really see much in that to bump...

"not sure which one you're using, mine's LL" I was also on LL until about 2 weeks ago when I switched to Cambridge.

    Canderel tablet sweetners

I have been using them for the past 2 months, probably a lot more of them than I should, but it hasn't affected weight loss at all.

If I may pat myself on the back.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I never thought of my losses inspiring anyone else, but if that does happen I would be quite pleased. I have no rewards planned for now or when this is all over. The weight loss itself and the resultant increase in energy and self confidence is reward enough for...

If I may pat myself on the back.

I don't usually announce my weight losses, but thought I would share a recent journal entry as it has been a bit of a milestone achievement for me. Started dieting March 18. After 61 days dieting: 34 kilos lost or 75 pounds lost or 5 Stone 5lbs lost or 1.2lbs lost each day I...

    American Portion Control

Ahhh ok, that info came from the server who wasn't the one who actually made it. When you consider that egg beaters cost quite a bit more than eggs I can't see the manager letting the cooks get away with doubling up on the quantities used. Hey at least you got the option of lower cholesterol...

    American Portion Control

" I went to Perkins for breakfast and ordered a jalapeno omellete (sp!) as I love them and it arrived, it is made with 8 eggs" Which Perkins was this?. Never known them, or Dennys or Ihop or Waffle house to make omelettes with more than 3 eggs. This was copied from the menu on the Perkins...

    American Portion Control

Some US portions are larger, but the choice will always be yours if you eat it all or not. Eating establishments won't be offended if you leave some behind or ask for a container to take the remainder with you to have at a later time. As for portion size being the reason why so many Americans...

IS the Cambridge Diet better than Lighter Life???

I am switching from LL to CD today. I lost alot of weight on LL and did find the counselling helpful initially, but after a while there seemed to be less counselling and more time spent doing weigh-ins and food orders as our group has grown a fair bit. When we do get actual counselling time...

week 12 of LL, low blood pressure, feeling ill

I occasionally add a little salt (maybe 1/5 of a teaspoon?) to my shakes and it does make them taste better as salt is a universal flavour enhancer. With the warmer weather upon us we will be losing more sodium due to perspiration.

Why don't LLCs come on here ?

Maybe they do, but just don't advertise that they are LL counsellors. I mean how is head office going to know?.

    LighterLife Men

I am still on LL, with no plans to switch to CD as I quite enjoy the counselling sessions ad do find them helpful. Our group is down to about 8 now as some have moved on to Management.

" I suspect it will a recommendation, rather something that they can enforce, much as the rest of the plan is!" I believe it is just that too, an "official" recommendation to keep the NICE regulators off their back.

You don't need to have chicken or fish if you are concerned about keeping to the food abstinence plan. Health food shops and good old Ebay sell Whey protein powder (Isolate is the best) that you can mix as a shake and add calories (approx 125-150 per serving), but very little carbohydrates and...

    milk

"Does anybody know the reasoning behind it?" Possibly to kick start the metabolism again, not sure though. I doubt I will be following that advice if I ever get it. There are other ways to increase calorie intake to 1000 while still maintaining ketosis and I am pretty sure that drinking that...

Moving to Weight Watchers after LL.... (?)

I think the issue with the WW slogan is the unwritten small print along the lines of "Eat all you want within our prescribed guidelines...". As someone who has also done WW and lost 4 stones (before I regained it all and then some), I would be lying if I said I wasn't hungry every single day...

Diet Clears Pilot, arrested for failing breathaliser...

Not that funny if you get stopped by the cops while driving and fail their breathalyzer too. I wonder how much grief you would be put through until they realized. I know they give you another test back at the station, but thats just another breathalyzer too so I guess you could request...

    Favourite Flavours

I don't like the soups...any of them and I find the bars too sweet. Favorite shake is Vanilla, used to like Chocolate, but find that lately my tastes have changed and now find the Chocolate to have a sour aftertaste. Haven't tried the water flavours I am quite used to the water now, actual...

    Calculating calories burned

Has anyone come across a calorie calculator that seems realistic?. I found one on Fitday and if I input all my days activities it says I have burned 6900 calories...in one day. If I am only taking in 500 that means that I have burned 6400 calories in stored fat for energy. If this is the...

    MOrrisons Appleade & Flavoured Water

Tescos (same stuff, made by the same company) Appleade has about 20 calories in a 2 litre bottle, so even if you drank 2 litres a day (after you got your water in) it isn't going to damage the weight loss process. I am sure it doesn't help abstinence and the discipline learning process though...

BP checks at LL counselling sessions

I agree with you, I would never charge group members (or anyone else really), but I don't have a Nurse's number so I wouldn't be of any use. We do have two surgeons in our group, but I wouldn't ask...not even sure they would be allowed to do it outside of their offices etc. I think we will...

BP checks at LL counselling sessions

There is no training really needed to use those machines, just basically put the cuff on your arm and press a button. Manual sphygmomanometers that are used with a stethoscope does require proper training though. I would imagine the stamp is necessary to prove that you haven't just made up a...

Hi all, started LL on March 17 so have already been through the rough bits. Just find myself getting impatient and dreading the inevitable slow down in weight loss as I continue.

BP checks at LL counselling sessions

I was thinking of suggesting to my group that if we all chipped in between £5-£7 we could just buy one of those portable Omron desktop BP machines that my GP uses. We could check BP on a weekly basis by just passing it around during weigh in etc. The counsellor would be there to verify BP so...
