Day one - Does this look okay?

When I first started Atkins I really didn't like much salad veg, or strong tasting veg like rocket. I just stuffed it down me anyway, and now I really like it. Atkins has changed my palette so much, it's not a chore to eat the healthy stuff any more. Get or make some low carb salad dressing...

    Potassium Question

Back to lose the last **** stone!

Okay you're on, 1st it is... hope we have a good first week! I never had any probs exercising on Atkins, in fact it gave me a rush of energy after the first week. You might feel tired & headachey in the first week though. I am training at the weekends for a charity bike ride I'm doing in...

LOL I am exactly the same! It's so annoying, undoing all your hard work in just two days! I think Atkins is the way to go, you can have more indulgent things at the weekend but it is still allowed. Good luck with it!

Back to lose the last **** stone!

I hope so Gabrielle! It is 7 weeks away, so a steady 2lbs a week should do it - easier said than done I know! Yeah we should make a challenge out of it, that would be great motivation! Should we start a thread do you think? I don't have any tips really, I am just going to stick to induction...

    Caloriefree's Menu/Weigh-ins

Wow CF, two dress sizes down, you're doing really well! Well done for staying away from the cinema snacks too, I have to have popcorn when I go but I just count it as my lunchtime meal, we tend to go to matinees. Yep you just have to eat what you need to when you're ill, getting better is...

    What have we eaten today

*sigh* Another 0.5lb up on the weekend. Stupid WEEKEND. Plan for today: b - sausage butty & 50g grapes, 285 l - ham, cream cheese & cucumber roll, rocket & red pepper salad, apple, yoghurt, 370 d - baked cod, baked potato with light cheese, steamed veggies, 380 sn - rice cakes or crisp breads...

    full up earlier

I noticed a difference in about the 2nd week of CCing, smaller portions were in fact more satisfying although I wouldn't say I ever feel 'stuffed', but I've sort of learned that I don't NEED to feel stuffed after a meal, that if I wait a little while and drink some water I can feel satisfied and...

Bullying and fat issues.... how did we get here?

A lovely post, serafyn. Very heart rending. I totally identify with the changing room breakdown! I have the same feelings of hate toward my own body but then I realise I had the same feelings before I put on all the weight. I don't think I've addressed it and I do worry that I will get to...

    Jingly Christmas challenge

Well done serafyn. It's a STS for me this week, I've had a really bad weekend, my head's in a really bad place right now. I get stuck in these really black moods from time to time and usually end up eating and drinking loads of really bad stuff trying to fill the hole, of course it never...

    What have we eaten today

That dinner sound yummy, CB. Well lunch wasn't quite so healthy, I went & got a ham salad sandwich (270) which I had with a Shape yoghurt and a bag of Quavers, 430 in all. Hangovers always make me crave bad food. And that 'day off' thread has got me thinking about having a REAL takeaway...

    I lost 2 inches - WAAH!

That's 'vertically challenged', Jim. :) Hiya morena honey, well done on getting to goal AND maintaining, that's just as big an achievement as actually losing. I may switch back to low carb for maint, the closer I get to goal the more nervous I get about putting the weight back on. Maint is...

    new to calorie counting

Good luck chaz. You may find that an online diet service helps you get the hang of CCing, I use Tesco diets and they work out my cal allowance and suggest meal plans for me although it is fully customisable so I can choose my own meals on a daily basis. I am aware that I plug Tesco quite a bit...

LOL you are excused Jot as you are still on the mend. :) I have no excuses though as my 'couple of drinks' last night typically got a little out of hand. Oh well, I will have to be extra good this weekend. b - porridge & toast - 315 l - John West tuna tomato salsa thingy with salad...

does anyone ever have a day off?

I believe that for a diet to work it's got to not feel like a chore or a punishment so if that includes having a day off once in a while then that's all part of the weight loss process. If it helps you stick to your diet the rest of the time, then it's a positive thing. And I agree with Lou...

Hmm it's a dilemma. Without knowing how urgently you need funds or whatever, I'd say try and hold out for a job you know you want, or at least one you don't already know you're going to hate! But at the same time I would still go for the interview at the further away place, because it's all good...

    shocked when I actually counted

Hiya Sweetheart, nice to have more newbies. Yep it's shocking how much calories can add up, and how many are in seemingly innocuous foods like a slice of bread or a corn on the cob! This is a great place to pick up loads of hints & tips. Good luck with your weight loss. x

    What have we eaten today

LOL it is confusing, when I first started CCing I found in order to clarify it in my mind it helped if I put it all down in a spreadsheet. Jingly Christmas challenge

I know what you mean, vickydink - I usually use the Christmas period as an excuse for a 2 week long pig-out with OH, it's not just one day with me but the whole run up, between Christmas & New Year and of course New Year's eve excess. Well this year I hope I can change that and keep it to...

Ooh, good luck with that, Jen - it's always much much harder when you're away from your own kitchen. Waah, Tesco Diets have dropped my daily target from 1300 to 1200 without so much as a by-your-leave - or even notifying me, strangely, I just happened to notice it. I guess it's because my...

    I lost 2 inches - WAAH!

Hullo again Jim. :) Thanks hun! The first week WAS really hard, but I'm used to smaller portions now and have found creative ways of cutting cals and making meals more filling, sort of like when I first started Atkins and had to retrain my palate. It's a lot easier now, I'm not going hungry...

I'm starting from my last WI on Monday, is that right? I hope I haven't set my goal too high, but I kind of wanted a really tough challenge in the hopes that I would rise to it. I know the way my mind works, and if I think "oh I only have to lose 1lb this week" then I will eat accordingly...

Men 'prefer curvy women to those those who are size zero', study claims

OH I get so tired of these 'studies'. No offence Jim, but they always seem to be veiled criticism of some sub-section of women or another. I think women of all shapes and sizes are beautiful. Why do we have to put each other down all the time?

Have been on diet and exercise strike, any advice welcome :)

Hey pumpkin, you work mad hours!!! I really don't know what to suggest. Would it be worth investing in a decent bit of gym equipment at home like an exercise bike so that you save time going to/from the gym AND save on gym fees and classes? Then you can slot in 30-45 mins exercise whenever...

Wow, well done Lady A! That's an amazing result! I only had antibiotics for mine but a few years ago I was on prednisolone for almost a year for a lung inflammation caused by radiotherapy. It gave me acid reflux so if you get that go back & ask for some pills for that too. Also, stay off...

Oh assj, I don't know what to suggest as I don't know your personal circumstances. Do you think there might be any volunteering opportunities near you that you can get involved in? Lots of them offer free childcare to volunteers as well as expenses paid, you would get a huge kick out of...
