    DOING SW FROM HOME???

Hi everyone I am sorry for jumping in but I didn't want to start a whole new thread for one silly question. I am starting sw at home from today - attending weekly classes just isn't viable for me, I work shifts, am doing a degree and have three children one of which has autism. I have my hands...

    Operation Graduation Ball Gown

I went to classes before and absolutely hated them, I love ww classes but at the moment I haven't the time or energy to weigh and count everything. Working a long day tomorrow, then back to the dreaded night shift next week. Will have to make a plan, both for food and sleep as I have major...

Deep fried.. I could have cried :(

Ok so maybe it wasn't the best choice....... but you know what? Poo happens!!! When I was losing I found that I did everything I could to avoid eating out as I liked to be in full control of what I eat, this was NOT healthy! At least you are learning to cope with these events from the start...

    Unhealthy choices

Great post above!!! I agree about not eating all of your points, if you genuinely are eating a lot of fruit, as you say you are, then it may not do any harm not to use all of your points. Although, fruit is 0pp, it still should be eaten in moderation - like everything. Don't get me wrong...

    Does ProPoints really work?

Great thread! I haven't managed to get into pp at all, I know the old points inside out so its always easier for me to follow them! Now I am back to tryin to lose, I think I will stick with pp, just need to find time to read up on it!

    Huge gain in first week

You store approx 7lbs of glycogen in your liver. Cambridge diet meant you use this glycogen up, then you are taking in so few cals that the store cannot build up again, plus its made from carbs so no carbs means no glycogen store. When you eat again, this store builds up again, meaning you...

Eat Weeklies and still lose weight??????

Hi hon, if you are sure its meant to be 51 then def eat that. Have you asked on the thread on here about your points allowance? You do need to eat all or most of your dailies. If you don't, then its likely that first of all you will be really hungry and won't stick with the plan longterm, or...

    Stay same or change over??

If you want to return to class, then def go for pp. At the end of the day it will force you to totally go back to basics, with weighing and measuring all food and pointing everything. Sometimes we fall into bad habits when too familiar with the old plan!!! If you don't want to go to class you...
  36. P

    So..current plan..

At the end of the day this has to be sustainable and realistic. If a small bag of lower cal crisps prevents you from eating a plate of chips, then go for it! Small steps are best as its more achievable longterm. A scraping of extra light mayo is fine, if you like it. I find that if I have...

I used to go to a class where the lady would say if you lost half a pound, well done thats fantastic, half a pound is great etc. If you gained that half pound tho, suddenly it became tiny, she would say oh its only a tiny half, sure going to the toilet would shift that lol. She was fab!

    Slimming World Abuse!

I love this, remember it from last year. Its so true how easy it is to slip into bad habits. But I still say very strongly - making cake from anything thats not flour is just wrong lol.

    Family dinner

I agree with a big roast dinner. With my turkey and ham on xmas day, I had homemade stuffing made from very low fat sausages, onion, and a bit of egg, and a roastie done with frylight. As well as mash and loads of veg. Something like that would be nice.

I believe my health has to be much better now than when I was size 24 - I am size 12 now. HOWEVER - I have had health problems from loosing weight also. My periods have stopped now for over a year, and I got gallstones which is apparently common after huge or rapid weight loss - I did ww so...

Jim, in my experience, yes. When I stopped dieting, I gained a stone, so am back on the diet!
  152. P

Sugar is the enemy? Fat our friend?

I actually have these diet books, and have given it a go. The main issue I have with it is she discourages excercise. I strongly believe excercise is vital for good health, so I that put me off her to be honest.

It won't actually affect your weight loss from week to week if you are consistantly eating the same amount each week of salt. However should you cutback you will prob have a great loss as you will lose a lot of the extra fluid that salt causes you to retain. It causes you to hold extra water...

What are your slimming world tips?

For me its all about planning. I meal plan for each week, write my shopping list from this, and only buy what I need. I write down everything I eat, and make sure I am always organised. I bring my own food everywhere, even to training courses where lunch is provided. If I am embarrassed, I...

Sorry, meant to say if you get a bus or a lift, you could get dropped off at a different place.

    walking home from work

You could try parking a few miles from work if you fancy walking. Sometimes I get the bus in and jog home, I am about 5 miles from work. Wouldn't have time in the mornings to jog in tho, by the time I drop the kids off its rush rush rush lol. I only work 3 days tho, so I can fit in the jog...

Can I swap plans half way through the day

Sorry hon, I thought you were changing to extra easy. I wouldn't get too worked up anyway either way, if its just a one off. These things happen anyway hon.

    Suddenly surrounded by experts

Well I think that proves I am naive in assuming people aren't jealous!!!! Thats wild lol, I guess some people are afraid that suddenly the tables will be turned, and they will be the 'fat friend'!!!! Grrrrr, makes me mad!!!

    Butternut Squash

I couldn't survive bns lol, I love it and have it regularly. Shame its so dear though :-(

    Quorn

I know it sounds completely rediculous, especially given I have never once eaten that rotisserie stuff. But it just brought it home to me that there is such 'interference' with meat products. But of course I suppose you could say the same about veggies, they are also 'interfered' with, and I...

    Is my consultant being helpful...?

I agree totally with Sonia. Their role is surely to advise and support, not to treat you like a child!!! At the end of the day, you did a fabulous job by losing anything, I can't believe she had a problem with that - not nice of her at all!!!! I def wouldn't like that. I can see why a C...

Can I swap plans half way through the day

    Eating on the run

Sorry, I meant to add its a good idea that you are giving this thought, and sussing out ways to prevent it happening, good idea!!!

    Eating on the run

I detest being caught out on the run, so I tend to keep a few cereal bars in the car, and I have a drawer full of healthy food in work lol. I tend to get up very early and prepare the days food then, so I don't often get caught out. Except like today, when I was unexpectedly asked to work...

    Homemade burger disasters - help!

A dash of sweet chilli or worcester sauce can liven them up, or grate a little apple in and use lean pork mince? Thats what I do for the kids. Or try turkey mince instead, and add some veg in, like mushrooms or sweetcorn, and maybe a bit of garlic.

Mikados are evil and will be my downfall!!!

Mmmmm they are yum!!! They aren't too bad tho, you can get away with a box - tho maybe not 2 lol.

    Suddenly surrounded by experts

Sorry, meant to add that you need to try and ignore it and be proud of yourself :-) However, a nurse recently said to me that its important to listen to the people that you really trust, and if they tell you they think you have lost enough then to listen to them - because its hard for us to...

    Suddenly surrounded by experts

Perhaps I am naive, but I actually genuinely believe these people care, and are actually concerned rather than jealous! This happened to me a lot, and I also found myself lying about my weightloss and excercise routine, some weeks I lost large amounts eg 4lbs, and when ,y family asked I told...

    Yum!

    Yes, they are lush :-)

    upset :(

Oh I def would push for replacements, thats very unfair. In ww if you lose your card, you get a new one for £2. They replace the 'silver 7' stickers if they are lost. I would have thought sw should be able to do the same, they know how much the awards mean to us. If I were you, I would be...

A couple of questions for target members

In some ways I feel worse! Altho I love that I can buy clothes in any shop. But before I would have just chucked on any clothes in the morning that fit, and not given any thought to how I looked. Now I spend ages picking, and some days I get changed until I feel my tummy looks ok lol. I feel...

    Goal Query

I agree with the above, I think its great sw don't dictate your goal. I had this problem too, my upper limit is 11 stone 12lbs, but my leader told me to set my goal lower. In the end we settled on 11 stone 7lbs, but she wasn't really happy and told me I ?would want to go lower at some stage...

    Quorn

To me, Quorn tastes absolutely nothing like meat!!! Luckily for me lol. I love the taste of quorn, thats why I eat it. I hate the taste of meat, thats why I don't eat it! I am NOY a veggie, I eat fish. I ate chicken until I read a thread on here about rotisserie chicken and how they inject...

    Vanity or Health??

Yep, both for me too. And like most, its mainly for my kids. I would hate for them to be embarrassed by me! Also it feels fantastic being able to run around with them!

    My portion sizes.

Fern, I honestly don't think it matters in the slightest how much you actually eat. Don't compare your portions to others, we are all unique and require different amounts. However, I know that I personally am not happy when I eat to excess. That feeling of being so full I can't move - I aim...
